Error E91 in Electrolux washing machine
Many experts note that Electrolux appliances have one of the best troubleshooting systems. You'll understand this if you encounter the E91 error in your Electrolux washing machine one day. This error alerts the user to a loss of communication between the main control board and the display board. With other brands of appliances, however, homeowners receive only vague information about the problem, rather than a precise indication of the faulty component. Therefore, Electrolux users don't need to spend time troubleshooting the problem, only troubleshooting it, which is what we'll cover now.
Is diagnostics necessary?
If you have detected the E91 error code, the first thing you need to do is determine what exactly caused the error. It may appear due to damage to the cable or one of the conductors, or it may occur after a complete failure of the control module or display board.
It's difficult to pinpoint the problem yourself without a multimeter, so it's much easier to call a service center technician. In this situation, you don't have to pay for repairs, because if the board is beyond repair, you can replace it yourself and only pay the technician for diagnostics.
This will significantly save your family budget, because while repairing a control module without extensive experience and knowledge is nearly impossible, replacing it is easy with detailed instructions. Therefore, if an expert has indicated the need for replacement, or you are confident you can determine the extent of the damage to the board yourself, proceed to the next section.
We remove the old board and install a new one
Electrolux "Home Helpers" are distinguished by the control board located directly behind the front panel. The exact location depends on the load type, but you won't miss the module given its large size. How do you remove it yourself?
- Disconnect household appliances from all communications.
- Remove the top cover of the CM by unscrewing the fixing bolts, then sliding the panel back and pulling it up.

- Remove the powder receptacle.

- Unscrew the screws holding the dispenser.

- Remove the bolts securing the control panel.

- Carefully disconnect the wires from the panel and then remove it.
It's best to document each stage of the work with a camera or smartphone so that you have an example of how to properly connect the wiring and other components when reassembling.
- Unscrew the screws that secure the control module to the machine body and remove it.
Now you need to carefully inspect the control board for any problems. Pay particular attention to any signs of carbon deposits, rust, or mechanical damage. In rare cases, you can restore the control module's functionality at home by replacing a capacitor or soldering the tracks, but most often, repairing the board will require a professional. In any case, do not attempt to repair the module yourself if the manufacturer's warranty has not yet expired, otherwise it will be voided.
Once you have a new or refurbished control module, you need to install it in its socket according to the instructions in reverse order. First, secure the board in the case, connect the wiring, and then install all the other components.
Be sure to run a test cycle to verify the repair. Stay close to the appliance while it's running to ensure you can respond promptly to any problems. If the wash cycle completes without incident, the replacement has been successful.
