Error F01 in an Indesit washing machine

F01 on Indesit washing machinesError F01 is uncommon among Indesit washing machine errors. It's typical for machines that have been in use for many years. Therefore, this error most often occurs not on machines with a display, but on those without one. In this case, the user sees a lit extra rinse light or a combination of flashing "Spin" and "Lock" lights. Let's find out what all this means.

Decoding the code

If you're experiencing error code F01 on your Indesit washing machine for the first time, take immediate action to resolve it. Don't let the problem continue. This code indicates a short circuit in the motor circuit. In other words, there's a fault with the washing machine's motor.

The motor is the one part of an Indesit washing machine that rarely fails. And if it does, it's due to wear and tear. That's why users of older washing machines encounter this problem.

Possible causes and symptoms

The occurrence of error F01 in an Indesit washing machine may be caused by the following reasons:

  • the socket and power cord of the machine are faulty;
  • the equipment's brains froze;
  • the carbon brushes of the commutator motor are worn out;
  • the motor winding burned out;
  • corrosion of the contacts on the motor block appeared;
  • the triac on the control module is faulty cars Indesit.

An experienced technician can more accurately determine the problem based on additional symptoms when turning on the washing machine. For example, if the drum stopped spinning and a motor noise was heard before the F01 error occurred, the motor brushes are most likely the culprit. Pay attention and you'll save yourself some work.

Do-it-yourself repairs

When repairing a washing machine yourself, start by resetting it. After the machine stops, turn it off, then unplug it for about 20 minutes and wait. If the machine displays an error message after turning it back on, you need to troubleshoot the problem. Check the integrity of the power cord and outlet. Use a multimeter for this. It won't be difficult to detect the fault, although the likelihood of it happening is extremely low.

After inspecting the washing machine externally, begin inspecting its internal components. Specifically, you need to access the motor. To do this:

  • open the service hatch made by Indesit manufacturers for these purposes;
  • holding the drive belt with one hand and turning the pulley with the other, remove the belt from the large and small pulleys;
  • Unscrew the electric motor from the holders using an 8 mm wrench;

  • Disconnect all wires from the motor and then remove it from the machine;
  • On the motor, find two plates, these are the brushes that need to be unscrewed and removed;
  • inspect the plates, most likely they will be very worn out, which means they need to be replaced with new ones;
    motor brushes
  • Assemble the washing machine and run it for testing.

    Don't worry if you hear a slight cracking sound after this repair. This is just the new cheeks breaking in, and the noise will disappear after a few washes.

If the brushes aren't the issue, check all the wires from the motor to the control module, or more specifically, the contacts. They often corrode in damp conditions, so the contacts need to be replaced or cleaned. The motor can fail if the winding burns out. In this case, the motor is replaced entirely, as repairs are uneconomical, or the old machine is abandoned altogether in favor of a new one. However, we emphasize that motors in Indesit washing machines rarely fail.

It's best to entrust a problem with a washing machine's electronic board to a technician experienced in this type of repair. In this case, you'll need not only soldering skills to resolder the triacs and traces on the module, but also, if necessary, the ability to program new boards. If you're repairing a washing machine to learn, then by all means, give it a try, but remember that the module is one of the most expensive components.

So, if your Indesit washing machine displays error code F01, try to troubleshoot the problem yourself. Just don't put it off or run the faulty machine if the error occurs intermittently. Solve the problem immediately. Good luck!

    You explain well, thank you.

    Another incident occurred when dust from the brushes got between the armature and the winding. This also indicated a short circuit. I removed the motor, blew out the soot with a compressor, and reinstalled it. It's been working for two years now.
