Error F23 in a Bosch washing machine
Most modern washing machines display an error code when the cycle stops. For example, error code F23 in a Bosch washing machine can appear at any stage of the cycle. It's most often caused by serious problems related to water leaks, which can lead to flooding. Let's take a closer look at the F23 code and what to do in this case.
Decoding the code
Error code F23 in a washing machine informs the user that the Aquastop leak protection system has been activated. This means water has entered the machine's tray. The following are possible causes:
- there was a rupture in the drain or inlet hose;
- the powder receptacle is not installed correctly;
- The Aquastop sensor is faulty, but it does not necessarily mean that there is water in the pan.
On a Bosch washing machine without a display, this error code is displayed in the form of flashing lights, namely spin speeds of 1000, 800 and 600, plus a rinse indicator.
Fixing a water leak
If this error occurs, the first thing you need to do is disconnect the washing machine from the power supply and turn off the water supply tap. If the electrical system in your washing machine is faulty and electricity is leaking into the body, you could get an electric shock. After this, begin to check for possible water leaks one by one.
Check to see if the detergent drawer is installed correctly. Water may be leaking through it. Try removing it and reinserting it. Next, check the connection between the drain hose and the pump, as well as the drain pipe. Here's what to do:
- disconnect the machine from the water supply and sewerage system;

- drain the water from the washing machine tray;
- turn the washing machine on its side;
- carefully move the tray aside;
- look through the bottom of the machine into the body, find the pump and check the connections with the drain hose and pipes;
- If necessary, correct the malfunction by replacing worn parts.
Please note! Water can also leak through the inlet hose connection to the machine, but in this case, it will immediately run onto the floor. This can happen even if the Bosch washing machine is turned off.
Another place where water can leak into the machine is the hose running from the inlet valve to the detergent drawer. You can check its tightness by removing the top cover of the washing machine.

Replacing the Aquastop sensor
If, when disassembling the machine, you notice there's no water in the tray and the display shows error code F23, the cause should be sought in the Aquastop sensor or the machine's internal circuitry. Perhaps you tilted the machine the day before, causing the float to stick, and the error triggered after you turned the machine on.
But if there's no sticking, the sensor needs to be replaced. This is easy; the main thing is to buy a new part. The sensor is disconnected from the wires and removed from the latches, and a working sensor is attached in its place.
Therefore, the F23 error only occurs in Bosch washing machines equipped with the Aquastop protection system. If this protection is triggered, this code appears on the display. You can fix this error yourself, but if disassemble the washing machine If you don't have the desire, the specialist will do it for you at home.
