Error F34 in a Bosch washing machine

Error F34 in a Bosch washing machineIf your Bosch washing machine displays error code F34, the wash cycle won't start. The program won't run because the door will remain open, preventing a watertight seal. Let's figure out what to do in this case and whether you can fix the problem yourself.

Let's try to reset the error

Having seen a fault code on the display, you need to figure out what the designation indicates. Error F34 on a typewriter Bosch is signaling a problem with the sunroof locking device. The lock does not work, the door does not close.

In 20% of cases, this code occurs due to a short-term glitch in the program.

So, in one out of five cases, repairs won't be necessary. A system reboot will help. To reset F34, you need to:

  • turn off the washing machine;
  • set the programmer knob to the “Spin” mode;
  • Wait a couple of seconds. You will hear a distinctive signal and an error code will appear on the screen;
  • hold down the button with the arrow (it is located near the display), count to four;
  • sharply turn the program selector to the “Drain” mode (while still holding the button);
  • Release the “Arrow” key and return the programmer to its original position (“Off”).Let's try to reset the error

If after these steps you still can't clear the error and the wash cycle doesn't start, the cause is a malfunction. You'll need to check the locking device and replace it if necessary. Let's figure out how to do this.

Testing UBL

If the display shows error code F34, you'll need to check the door lock. You'll need to access the lock to diagnose it. On Bosch machines, it's recommended to access the mechanism from above. However, you'll have to do this by feel. Another approach is to remove the outer clamp of the door seal, tuck the end of the rubber band into the drum, and remove the locking mechanism.

The disadvantage of the second method is the risk of damaging the door seal. The rubber seal is responsible for the system's airtightness, and its displacement can cause a leak. Care must be taken to minimize the risk of damaging the seal.

Checking the blocker is quite simple:

  • Please read the electrical diagram of the UBL, it is provided in the instructions;
  • turn on the multimeter, set it to resistance measurement mode;
  • apply the tester probes to the contacts of the locking mechanism;
  • Check the display on the device. If it's a three-digit number, the device is working properly.
  • Test the door lock for common contact. A one or zero on the multimeter screen will confirm the lock is working properly.Let's check the UBL of Bosch machines

If you've identified a problem, don't even try to repair the door locking device. It's much easier and cheaper to purchase a new one and install it on your Bosch washing machine.

When selecting an UBL analogue, you need to focus on the model and serial number of the machine.

Replacing the locking device

To resolve error code F34, you'll need to install a working immobilizer. You'll need a negative-head screwdriver and an Allen key. Before starting work, you need to de-energize the machine, disconnect the equipment from the sewer, and turn off the water supply tap. The procedure for dismantling the old device and installing a new one is as follows:

  • remove the cover of the washing machine by unscrewing the two bolts that secure it;
  • tilt the washing machine body back so that the drum “moves away” from the front panel of the body;
  • holding the blocker from below, insert your other hand into the hole between the drum and the wall;
  • disconnect the UBL contacts;
  • Using a hex key, unscrew the bolts holding the locking mechanism;
  • remove the element;
  • reconnect the working locking device.

You can repair a washing machine displaying the F34 error code yourself. The key is to select the appropriate door locking system and perform the work carefully. It's also important to follow safety precautions.
