Gorenje washing machine error code F6
When the F6 error code appears on the display, a Gorenje washing machine doesn't always stop the program it's started. Often, the cycle continues, but the user isn't satisfied with the results—the laundry isn't cleaned as well as before. To restore the previous washing results, it's necessary to understand the cause of the error and fix it. We offer instructions on how to do this.
What is this code?
First, you need to decipher the "message" from the self-diagnostic system. According to the manual, error F6 indicates a heating problem. Simply put, the Gorenje can't reach the set temperature and displays a warning code. The water remains cold, the wash cycle continues, but stubborn stains aren't removed. Error F6 appears on Gorenje washing machines for the following reasons:
- the heating element broke;
- the thermistor (temperature sensor) is out of order;
- the safety pressure switch is faulty;
- There was a failure on the control board (the heating relay refuses to work).
My Gorenje washing machine is not heating, and the wiring in the relevant section is broken due to a faulty connection between the heating element and the electronic unit. As a result, the control module's commands don't reach the heater, and the water remains cold.
Error F6 indicates problems with water heating.
To reset the error, you need to check the Gorenje heating system in sequence. It's better not to try anything yourself, but to immediately invite a specialist from a service center for diagnostics. This is especially true if you've never repaired washing machines before. Remember that the slightest mistake can worsen the situation, even leading to permanent damage. When checking the heating system on a Gorenje washing machine, perform the following:
- inspection of contacts, ringing of terminals;
- eliminating defects in the wiring, tightening the clamps;
- testing the heating element, thermistor, protective pressure switch and electronic unit for serviceability;
- dismantling a non-working part;
- installation of a new device.
Most often, the F6 error code indicates problems with the heating element. Typically, the heater fails due to excessive loads or a thick layer of scale. To prevent the latter, it is recommended to use special cleaners and softeners for hard water.
Is it difficult to replace a heating element?
While diagnostics of the control board or safety pressure switch should only be performed by specialists, even the average Gorenje user can check and replace the heating element. Troubleshooting is simple: simply test the part and replace it with a new one. All you need is a multimeter and remember safety precautions. To test the heating element, ensure it is easily accessible. Here are the instructions:
- disconnect Gorenje from communications;
- Using a flat-head screwdriver, pry up the lower front false panel and, pressing the latches, disconnect it from the body;
- unscrew the screws hidden behind the false panel;
- loosen the outer clamp on the hatch cuff;

- insert the seal into the drum;
- remove the hatch door;
- dismantle the UBL;

- remove the front panel by pressing several latches;

- find the heating element connector under the tank;

- inspect the heating element contacts;

- take a photo of the location of the wires;
- unhook the wiring;
- loosen the central nut;
- rock and remove the heating element.
The next step is to diagnose the heating element. Connect a multimeter to the heater and measure its resistance. If the indicators do not correspond to the norm, then the situation can only be corrected by replacing the part. Before installing the new heating element, we recommend cleaning the "nest" of dirt and scale. Then, secure the heating element with the bolt, reconnect the wiring, and reassemble the Gorenje. Next, run a test wash and check the display. If the F6 error doesn't reoccur, you've done everything correctly. If not, contact a service center.
