Miele dishwasher error code F70

If your Miele dishwasher displays error code F70, it means a leak has been detected. Sometimes the Aquastop sensor may trigger falsely, or the control module may be faulty. We'll explain how to check the dishwasher and what to do to reset the error code.

Is there water in the tray?

Miele dishwashers display the F70 error code for various reasons. The float sensor, located in the tray, can shift position not only due to water accumulation but also if the dishwasher is not level. Sometimes, the problem is caused by deformation of the dishwasher base or its position (for example, if something was placed underneath the dishwasher).

Therefore, inspect the dishwasher tray. If it shows no signs of deformation and the machine is level, make sure there is no water in it. If it is dry, the Aquastop float is likely faulty or its contacts are stuck.

There is a leak

Usually, the F70 error displayed by a Miele dishwasher actually indicates a leak. Most often, leaks occur at the connection points of the dishwasher's inlet and drain hoses. It could also be due to damage:

• washing chamber;
• circulation pump;
• drain pump;
• internal pipes;
• sealing rubber bands.

The inlet hose of modern Miele dishwashers has a special indicator. Due to its special design, if a leak occurs, water does not escape beyond the corrugated tube but remains inside. The Aquastop sensor on the inlet changes color. If this happens, the inlet hose will need to be replaced; it cannot be repaired.

If the dishwasher's internal components are damaged, water drains into the tray. The float rises, the intelligent system detects the leak, and notifies the user with error code F70. In this case, the following steps are taken:

• Unplug the Miele dishwasher;
• turn off the valve that supplies water to the machine;
• disconnect the dishwasher from communications;
• remove the tray and drain the water from it;
• Run a dishwasher diagnostic to locate the leak.

To reset the F70 code, you'll need to eliminate the cause of the leak. For example, install a new inlet hose, replace the sealing rubber, damaged hoses, tighten the clamps at the connections, etc.

Why did the protection activate without water?

If there's definitely no leak, and you've verified this, then the machine is displaying an error code. This is also possible. The Aquastop sensor is connected to the dishwasher's control module. When moisture gets into the connection, the contacts oxidize, causing them to stick.

As a result of contacts sticking, the electronic unit incorrectly interprets information about the state of the Aquastop float sensor.

In this case, to reset the F70 error, you'll need to check the entire circuit from the float to the control module for problems. If the problem is sticking, you'll need to clean the oxidized contacts. In some cases, the sensor will need to be replaced.

Electronic board failure

It's extremely rare for a Miele dishwasher to display the F70 error code because of a faulty control module. However, if all other faults have been ruled out, it's worth checking the control module. It coordinates the operation of all the dishwasher's components and sensors, receives information about malfunctions, and displays it on the display.

When the control module malfunctions, it displays inaccurate data on the dishwasher's display. This prevents the dishwasher from functioning properly. The system registers a non-existent fault.

Most often, control unit failure is caused by sudden power surges in the electrical network. To minimize the risk of malfunction, it is recommended to install a voltage stabilizer on the dishwasher's power line. Another possible cause is moisture getting on the circuit board. To diagnose and repair the dishwasher module, you will need to call a service center specialist.
