Waterproof error on a Miele washing machine
If the "Waterproof" error message appears on your Miele washing machine's display, the first thing you should do is unplug the machine and turn off the water supply. In this case, you need to act quickly and observe safety precautions. Only after completing these steps can you begin to determine the cause of the problem.
What shall we do first?
As soon as the power is turned off, you should inspect the machine. If you detect a leak and the area around the washing machine is flooded with water, the Waterproof protection system has activated, designed to protect the machine from leaks. If the area around the machine is dry, you should remove the front panel and inspect the tray. However, this is not a necessary step. First, tilt the washing machine forward and then back.
This step can help correct the error and ensure there's water in the tray. When tilted, water will spill out of the tray onto the floor. This step can also reset a stuck float.
When your washing machine displays a "Waterproof" error, you should also inspect the detergent drawer. If you recently removed it, this could be the root of the problem. If the powder drawer is not installed correctly, water may leak into the washing machine tray. The tray needs to be checked and installed in the correct position.
Inspecting the pallet
To inspect the drip tray, disconnect the washing machine from the water supply and drain. Then, move it to the center of the room and lay some rags on the floor. Tilt the machine sideways and empty the drip tray. Then, lay it on its right side and unscrew the drip tray.
When removing the pan, be careful not to tear off the wire that powers the protection sensor.
If there's no water in the pan, lower the float and replace the pan. In this case, no repairs are required, as the cause is likely a stuck sensor. If there is a large amount of water in the pan, inspect the hose from the tank to the spool, the drain filter, the pump, and the tank itself for any defects. Typically, a leak can be identified immediately, as drops of water or a wet spot will be visible. The broken part should be replaced entirely, but a sealant can also be used to temporarily fix the problem yourself.
Checking and replacing the sensor
The leak sensor can be triggered regardless of the float's position. In this situation, it must be completely replaced. What should you do in this case to repair the washing machine, and how can you tell if this is the cause? To do this, inspect the float and test the sensor with a multimeter. If it's in the lower position and hasn't moved, but still trips, it needs to be replaced. To do this, follow these steps:
- remove the power wire from the sensor;
- unscrew the fasteners;
- remove the sensor and buy a similar one in a specialized spare parts store;
- replace the spare part.
After this, reassemble the Miele washing machine in reverse order and continue using it. Safety systems can prevent major problems. For this purpose, washing machines are equipped with a "Waterproof" error code. It alerts you to water problems, although the problem may lie with the sensor. This system can help prevent serious damage to the appliance.

Could you please tell me if the washing machine is built into a cabinet and the front is covered with MDF, the door is locked. Is there any way to dry the water out of the tray? Maybe with a hairdryer? After cleaning the filter, some water got into the tray, and the Waterproof error message appears. I can't remove or tilt the washing machine.
No. It is not possible.
Thank you so much, kind person, you fixed it.
Good night? The green start button isn't lit.
Is it possible to do something on your own?
