Bosch SMV40D00RU Dishwasher Reviews
A full-size dishwasher can wash a huge amount of dishes in one go, and it does so very well. Can the same be said about the Bosch SMV40D00RU built-in dishwasher? We wanted to hear from our users. Here's what they have to say.

This dishwasher is incredibly easy to operate, even my fourth-grader daughter could handle it. It's quiet and fast. It's a modern marvel!

After careful consideration and deliberation, I settled on a fully integrated dishwasher with a wide range of features and easy operation. I really liked the design of the appliance, which also influenced my choice. And the price is excellent—worth the buy!

This dishwasher is a wonderful purchase, and I'm so happy to have it in my home. I was able to get it on sale. I'll share my impressions so I can compare it to other models. A big plus of this model is the height adjustment of the baskets. I like the variety of programs, especially the availability half loadIt's visually obvious that high-quality materials were used in its manufacture. And most importantly, I give the dishwashing experience a 5-star rating.
There is, of course, one drawback. For some reason, the plastic containers tip over during washing, which affects the cleaning quality. But this isn't just a problem with this machine. As for capacity, I can fit four medium pots, two frying pans, and six large flat plates. I can also fit about five tea sets and a lot of cutlery. Don't forget to add salt and rinse aid to ensure results. Conclusion: I highly recommend it!

For a long time, I kept finding excuses to avoid buying a dishwasher. But finally, I decided to go for it. First, I decided on the dimensions: a 60 cm wide machine was suitable for my kitchen, and it would also fit large pots, which is important. After researching numerous models online and reading recommendations, I settled on Bosch, hoping for quality.
The instructions for the appliance are easy to understand, and a wiring diagram is included. Two spacious baskets for dishes are height-adjustable. I'd like to point out that you need to arrange the dishes correctly, otherwise there won't be any results. As for the product, I haven't decided on it yet; I'm looking for the best and most eco-friendly one. Regarding the operation of the device, the following can be noted:
- The wash quality is good, and there are no streaks on the glass. But if you don't dry dirty dishes, they'll be much more difficult to clean later.
- It spends on average 1.5-2 hours on washing, finishing the work with a sound signal.
- One load per day is enough to wash dishes for 4 people.
- It's quite noisy, so if this bothers you, you might want to look for a different model. Personally, it doesn't bother me.
After some time, I realized I needed to have more dishes in the house than before. And these dishes needed to be dishwasher-safe. With the advent of technology, I noticed how much better the skin on my hands has become, for which I'm grateful. Now, I've begun to devote more time to cooking, something I really enjoy doing.

I'm generally happy with this built-in dishwasher. Maybe I haven't learned how to use it yet, or maybe it's defective. Why is that? I'll explain everything in order.
- Firstly, the washing machine doesn't allow for a lower kitchen plinth. Our custom-made furniture was made of expensive solid wood, and the plinth needed to be 8 cm instead of 10 cm, which didn't fit the washing machine. However, the washing machine was securely attached to the side walls.
- Secondly, I don't particularly like the duration of the modes: either 30 minutes or about 3 hours. I'd prefer something more optimal, about an hour and a half. Of course, if you wash for a long time, everything will come out, but that's too much. And with a short program you have to turn on pre-rinse, which is inconvenient
- Thirdly, after I got the washing machine, I had to replace most of my dishes because they didn't fit. Even though the manufacturer of the Luminara plates allows them to be washed in the washing machine. Maybe I did something wrong, or the dishes are counterfeit—it's unclear whose fault it is—but the dishes started to deteriorate. So now I use ceramic dishes.
I use only Finish products, which have proven themselves to be the best.
In short, there's nothing magical about this machine; it just washes dishes. Be prepared to spend extra.

I hadn't used a dishwasher before, but after the renovation, we decided to install one too. It's definitely a beauty—it saves time and water while keeping the dishes incredibly clean. We were hesitant about the need for a large machine, but we don't regret getting this one. The baskets are completely full of dishes every day. But it takes a very long time to clean, about two hours. So, we wanted something faster.
As for the half-load setting, it doesn't speed up the process; it just saves water. The noise level is normal and doesn't disturb my sleep, so we use it at night. The same program can produce completely different results: sometimes we take out dry dishes in the morning, and sometimes they're completely wet. We haven't figured out why yet.

I also looked at Indesit dishwashers. After weighing the pros and cons, I settled on the Bosch, even though I had to pay $50 more. The leak protection was a plus. In short, the machine cleans well. The pots come out clean after a meal, and the plastic also cleans beautifully. The dishes are completely dry. The key is to wait until the cycle is complete and not remove the dishes immediately afterward. One minor drawback is the noise level on all cycles, which prevents me from turning it on at night.

I've been using this dishwasher for two years now without a hitch. It doesn't have many settings, but they're enough for me. There's no floor beam, but that's not a big deal since I just turn it on at night so everything is clean in the morning. Burnt-on or very dried-on food doesn't always come out. I follow the instructions and use all the cleaning products. Overall, I'm happy with it and give it a 5.

I recently installed a dishwasher in my kitchen. Since then, I've noticed a water savings of 3 cubic meters, and the time savings are incredible! No need to hoard dishes; you just put them in the dishwasher's racks, and wash them all at once each evening. I love the express program. As for the special salt, I think it's a waste of money; just replace it with regular table salt and that's it.

I have no complaints about the dishwasher's cleaning performance. But as for Bosch's vaunted reliability, I was very surprised by this dishwasher. After just one year and three months, the heating element failed. It can only be replaced as a complete unit with the circulation pump, so repairs will likely be quite expensive.

This machine only cleans spoons and forks and some plates properly. Pots, pans, and most other dirty dishes aren't washed properly. Is it worth installing it if you still have to wash them by hand?

For some reason, store salespeople have been discouraging people from buying Bosch appliances lately, citing breakdowns and poor Polish assembly. I found this odd. I haven't heard anything like this from the service center specialists I spoke with. It turns out it's simple: the salesperson gets bonuses for selling an unknown brand. It's no wonder there are so many negative reviews.
Personally, I liked everything about this machine except the excessively high price. That's why I only give it 3 out of 5 stars.

I was disappointed with my Bosch dishwasher because it broke after a year and two months. The plastic started to creak when I opened it, and the door started falling down. Since the warranty had expired, I decided to figure out the cause myself. It turned out that the metal cover fastening had broken. The spring is attached to the door with plastic, which is what broke. The mechanism costs $20.

I had to return the dishwasher to the store. I didn't like the fact that the door wouldn't stay in place. This forced me to hold the door with one hand and put dishes in with the other. Also, the drying system was terrible. It cleaned pans and pots terribly. And on top of that, it was very noisy. I decided to spend more money just to have a good appliance.
Kachanov Evgeny
Overall, this appliance's quality matches its price. It has plenty of features, but over time, a display that would show information before the wash cycle is complete became a bit lacking. There are no complaints about the cleaning quality, but the plastic smell during the wash cycle is incredibly annoying. This is disappointing, as it is a Bosch brand after all.
