Bosch SPV40X80RU Dishwasher Reviews

Bosch SPV40X80RU reviewsThe German brand is undoubtedly a top choice among consumers when choosing a dishwasher. The brand has a proven track record of reliability, and the quality of its appliances is appreciated worldwide. However, the brand name listed on the packaging and the country of manufacture don't always match, which can affect the appliance's performance. Let's see what people think of the Bosch SPV40X80RU dishwasher, how good it is, and whether it meets its stated requirements.

Dishwasher specifications

The manufacturer of this dishwasher describes all technical specifications, installation instructions, and operating instructions in the product manual. Let's look at the key points that buyers pay attention to first.

First of all, it's worth mentioning that this is a fully integrated dishwasher, assembled in Germany. Its slim dimensions allow it to fit even in a small kitchen, as the required niche (HxWxD) is only 85 x 45 x 55 cm.

Please note! The warranty for this dishwasher model is only 1 year.

The machine has a minimum set of programs – 4. Of the additional functions, you will probably find the following useful:

  • half load;
  • child lock;
  • complete leak protection;
  • indicators of products (salt and rinse aid);
  • sound at the end;
  • Electronic adjustment of the hardness of the water supplied to the machine.

This small dishwasher can hold 9 place settings, and the machine will use about 9 liters of water to wash them on a standard cycle. Power consumption will be 0.78 kW/h.

Surprisingly, it was my husband who insisted on buying a dishwasher, having made room for it during the renovation. We immediately settled on the brand—the tried-and-true Bosch. And now we know we made the right choice. The dishwasher has obvious advantages:

  • it works almost silently, and therefore it is often turned on at night, thanks to the presence of a delayed start of up to 9 hours;
  • inexpensive and at the same time reliable;Bosch SPV40X80RU
  • washes perfectly and dries well too;
  • optimal programs, available for both plates and glasses;
  • consumes little electricity;
  • leak-proof;
  • holds a lot of dishes.

I especially like the Eco mode, which is where I mostly wash dishes. It's rare for pans to get left unwashed, but if anything remains, it's easily wiped away with a cloth. A longer cycle cleans everything perfectly. Just check the instructions and the dishes themselves; if it says dishwasher-safe, don't experiment—wash by hand. For example, wooden and cast-iron utensils are definitely not dishwasher-safe.

And finally, I'll share a dream. My husband now wants a full-size washing machine, 60 cm wide.

The only thing I liked about this dishwasher, which I only realized after purchasing it, was the price. Everything else leaves much to be desired, and other buyers' reviews are overly glowing. The machine is basic, with a limited feature set. It's very noisy. If you have the money, it's worth getting a more expensive model.

This is my first dishwasher, and I've been using it for two months now. I'm so happy with it because now I don't have to wash dishes by hand. There are three of us, and the dishwasher only runs once every two days; before that, the dishes just pile up until they're full. So far, there haven't been any incidents with dirty dishes, and even baking sheets with burnt-on grease are now clean.

The machine handled my Soviet-era pallets from 1972 quite well. I only use tablets and salt for washing. There are only two programs, but they're generally sufficient. However, the lack of a floor beam is inconvenient. It's not always clear whether the washing machine has stopped or not; you can't hear the noise, so you have to open the door slightly.

And one more thing – it doesn’t fit large dishes. A full-size machine would be suitable, but there’s not enough space in the kitchen.

We bought the machine and were very happy with it, but after three days of use, something happened. The machine started stopping mid-cycle, sometimes during the drying process, and sometimes displaying a water supply error. The service technician, without thinking, immediately checked the outlet. He found that the voltage fluctuated between 190 and 230 V. This is critical for a Bosch dishwasher, meaning the machine stops working if the mains voltage drops below 210 V. Only a specialist can help voltage stabilizer.

Of course, the manual doesn't mention this. And it's true, sales would drop. Otherwise, the machine would be fine, the build quality is decent, and it uses little water.

This Bosch dishwasher has served me well for eight years, washing two or three times a day. For a large family, that's fantastic. It's been breaking down lately, first with clogged drains, and then with a burnt-out pump. We also had to replace the detergent drawer. After that, we decided to buy a new one, also a Bosch, but the SPV 40x80 model. It's not much different from our old machine, with the same features.

We noticed a quieter operation and a quieter signal when finished, and there's no beam on the floor, but we didn't find anything special about it. Most importantly, it does a good job of washing and drying. I've taught everyone to soak the dishes in the sink before putting them in the baskets, as the machine isn't a magician and can easily get rid of dried-on food. Overall, it's a great machine, and I recommend buying it.

Three months after this purchase, I bought another one, exactly the same, for my dacha. No complaints, it works perfectly. The only thing I was worried about was the voltage surges. I measured the voltage for a month, but it never dropped below 210, so I think everything will continue to be fine.

I bought this machine based on the unanimous reviews. I don't regret the purchase, but I'd only give it a 4. The only downside is the poor drying performance. Everything else is fine. It's easy to use, cleans well, but sometimes there are burnt-on food residues. Repeated washing fixes the problem. Overall, it's a decent machine and highly recommended.

We'd like to stop there; the majority of reviews we found were positive. Buyers are happy with their purchases, and whether you believe them or not is up to you. We wish you a successful purchase!
