Electrolux EWT 1066 EDW Washing Machine Reviews
Today, a number of online stores offer a significant discount on the Electrolux EWT 1066 EDW washing machine. This decent top-loading model from a reputable manufacturer immediately attracted the interest of potential buyers, and it's no wonder, as some sellers are offering discounts of almost one-third the original price. Is this washing machine worth buying? Let's take a look at owner reviews.
Positive opinions
Ekaterina, Moscow
My husband and I bought this washing machine two months ago. It washes well, the control panel is shabby, but it displays everything I need, which is fine. The spin cycle is good, and you can delay the start of the wash for several hours—20 hours, I think, at most. It has a cool soft-opening door mechanism and a bunch of wash programs, although I only use a few. I recommend it.

After two weeks of use, I haven't found any drawbacks. Loading laundry is easy: firstly, because the door opens wide and doesn't interfere with loading, and secondly, because the door itself is located above, there's no need to squat or bend over.
I read that if the load is from the top, the machine should be less noisy.
The machine's registration document says it's made in France. I don't know whether to believe that, but if it really is French, that's doubly cool. The waste filter is located at a sufficient height from the floor, so that when you unscrew it, you can place any container underneath it without spilling a drop of water on the floor. I rate the machine five stars on a five-point scale.
Valentina, Murmansk
Our washing machine is almost three years old, maybe more. I don't really think about its age; it works perfectly, and if you hadn't asked, I wouldn't have thought to tell you about it. This washing machine has two clear advantages: excellent cleaning results and gentle care for laundry. My old machine left lint on my clothes after three washes, and I've hardly washed anything in it lately. The Electrolux doesn't allow itself such a mess; my laundry is still perfectly intact even after 15 washes—I've tested it!
Negative opinions
Alena, Saratov
The machine worked fine for the first week, but then the software started glitching. At first, they were sporadic, so I didn't pay much attention, but now the warranty period has expired, and it's impossible to wash clothes. The "Jeans," "Sports," "Blankets/Rugs," and "Night" modes simply won't turn on. More accurately, they turn on, but after 3-5 minutes of washing, the machine stops, and you can only restart it after a reboot. It looks like I'll have to call a technician.

This washing machine makes a lot of noise. It's old.LG washing machine I never even bothered with that; it rattled, of course, but not as much. The dispenser is also a frequent issue. You can safely add detergent and rinse aid to the same compartment, but the machine will still use them at the same time, so there's no point in using rinse aid at all. There's also something wrong with the water heating. If you set it to 60 degrees, the machine heats the water to 40, and I don't understand why. It's not worth the money!

This washing machine has two significant drawbacks that outweigh all the advantages. First, moisture accumulates inside the machine, and drying it is impossible, as it's always left with the door and drum flaps open. Now the machine has started to smell damp, and that smell is compounded by a mildew smell. This problem needs to be addressed, otherwise using the machine will be dangerous to your health.
My daughter has allergies, if she starts breathing in mold spores, I'll just throw the machine away without a second thought.
Secondly, the washing machine hums horribly. It's probably the noisiest washing machine I've ever used. Also, once during a wash cycle, the drum doors opened, and the drum jammed. I had to fiddle with it to get the drum to close the doors again. The bottom line is: this washing machine is a complete failure. It may have been assembled in France, but it's still a failure!

I got screwed over with this washing machine; we've only had it for two weeks. We handled it carefully—it was new, after all—but despite our careful handling, the plastic hinge on the door snapped, and it wouldn't close. This kind of damage isn't covered by the warranty, and the repairman blamed us for closing it too quickly. We had to pay for repairs, which cost $50. Needless to say, my wife and I are now afraid to breathe over this lid, and all that vaunted European quality is gone.
Svetlana, Irkutsk
If I'd had the chance to listen to a washing machine in the store, I would never have bought that rattle. It's a nightmare; a modern machine shouldn't work like that, even if it's cheap. Everything in this car whistles, hums, and rattles: the engine, the drive mechanism, the body, and even the lid rattles because it doesn’t close tightly enough. It feels like I bought some Chinese "hammy" instead of a good European-made car. However, I shouldn't be pushing Chinese technology; it's actually better than European ones these days.
Julia, Tolyatti
Unfortunately, my washing machine purchase turned out to be a failure. I should have chosen a front-loading model; as always, I'm always looking for something unusual. The machine only washed well at first, but then it started having trouble dispensing detergent. It was also incredibly noisy.
Now the washing machine has completely broken down; it won't even start. At the very beginning, after setting the wash program, the machine spins the drum a couple of times and then goes silent until it restarts. The service technician gave it a hard time, taking it home for a debriefing, and now I've been without a washing machine for three weeks.
I'll try to return this washing machine to the store soon and get an inexpensive front-loading one in return.
Galina, Arkhangelsk
My washing machine's spin cycle is incredibly problematic. Even after running the spin cycle twice, the laundry remains wet. I don't even understand why this happens, since the drum is spinning and spinning fast. So, the only thing I can rely on is the wash and rinse cycle, and the machine is incredibly noisy. Just yesterday, another problem arose: the washing machine shut off accidentally mid-cycle. If this happens again, I'll need to call a professional.
