Indesit IWSB 5085 Washing Machine Reviews

Indesit IWSB 5085 reviewsThe record-breakingly affordable Indesit IWSB 5085 washing machine is being actively discussed by users on dozens of sales websites and hundreds of online forums and blogs. People's interest is understandable: a very inexpensive automatic washing machine with decent specifications seems a bit suspicious. We'll ask users who have owned it for more than six months to share more details about this machine. Perhaps they can dispel our doubts.

Men's opinions

Artem, Verkhnyaya Pyshma

I've had the machine for 10 months, and I bought it over a year ago. To be honest, I wasn't particularly hopeful that it would work well. I figured I'd be constantly traveling for business, rarely being home, and only doing laundry infrequently. It seems silly to buy an expensive automatic washing machine when you're only home for a total of four months a year.

Well, okay, those are my personal issues. The washing machine, overall, is quite good. I immediately noticed that it's stable, with almost no wobble during the spin cycle. There were no breakdowns either. My only complaints were about the controls. To reset the washing program you need to restart the machine, which is somehow not well thought out. In principle, it’s a matter of habit, you just need to make fewer mistakes when setting up the program.

Sometimes there are problems with dissolving the powder. Often, a lot of it remains in the tray.

I bought the machine with my salary, so I didn't particularly complain about the poor quality. In one year and three months of operation, the machine broke down once; I had to replace the drive belt myself. Otherwise, the machine works perfectly, with the exception of minor issues.

  • At the very beginning, the machine stained my laundry with machine oil a couple of times. I solved the problem by running two full wash cycles with a generous amount of dishwashing detergent. After this procedure, the oil no longer appeared on my laundry.
  • The machine also vibrated a lot, so I had to bring it from the city.anti-vibration stands and put them under the legs. The problem was almost completely solved.
  • When I tried to clean the dust filter, I discovered that the plug had dried and was impossible to remove. I lightly picked at the edges of the plug with a flathead screwdriver, then sprayed it with WD-40, waited half an hour, and the plug came out quite easily.

After the above modifications, the washing machine began to function fully and without any issues. It's doing its job, no more, no less.

I've never used cheap washing machines, as we've been using an old German Miele for a long time. After 18 years of use, its motor suddenly quit, and we had to buy an Indesit, as we had no money at the time, and, as you can imagine, you can't do without a washing machine.

The machine has been working flawlessly for a year and a half now, and it washes very well. The first time I used it, I ripped the lid off while trying to open the detergent drawer, and I had to reattach it with sealant. I also tinkered with the plastic a bit to make the drawer easier to remove, and haven't had any similar issues since. My wife complains that the drum capacity is too small and that she can't wash large items because the machine keeps freezing. This is probably the only major drawback; otherwise, everything is great.

This washing machine is a true construction kit. I know this from my experience working at the service center. While it's working, it's a gem, as it's inexpensive, washes well, and isn't noisy. However, it does have a few weak points: the drive belt, the motor, and the bearings.

The drive belt tends to stretch and come off. Replacing it about every three years helps.

The motors in these machines are unreliable and often burn out. On average, they last about five years, after which replacement is quite expensive. The bearings are even worse; on this particular model, they are of very low quality, failing after 3-5 years of use. Replacing the bearings requires sawing and then reassembling the drum, but it's still cheaper to repair than replacing the drum and tub assembly. Overall, my advice is this: if you have such a machine and it's been in use for 2-3 years, sell it quickly, otherwise it will quickly become a money-losing affair.

Women's opinions

Anastasia, Ivanovo

My mom and I bought identical washing machines a year ago and are now sharing our impressions. They work very well, especially considering we saved a fair amount of money. We were offered a top-loading Indesit, but we're more accustomed to front-loading, so we went with this model. We especially like the range of washing programs; it feels like the engineers were consulted by real homeowners. They've taken many of the essentials into account. I personally really like the Eco function. I give the machine a full five stars.

This washing machine is terrible, I've never encountered a worse one, even though I've used LG and Bosch washing machines. The spin cycle makes a loud metallic clanking sound, and the laundry stays wet. Why even bother with a spin cycle if it doesn't actually spin? It only works with very good detergent; if you use mediocre detergent, the wash is disastrous. In two years of work, the mechanic repaired our car twice: once the belt, the second time the sunroof lock. Apart from the low price, this washing machine has no advantages.

Before buying this washing machine, I read a ton of positive customer reviews, all praising it. Now I'm thinking about replacing it. The washing machine worked flawlessly during its warranty period, but after a year, as if by magic, problems started. First, it stopped filling with water properly, which ended with replacing the inlet valve, and now the electronics are malfunctioning. It looks like I need to call a repairman immediately before something serious happens. This machine is unreliable, and I don't recommend buying it.

There are problems with control, since half of the programs do not turn on.

Elena, St. Petersburg

I'd like to share my opinion of this washing machine. Overall, it's not bad, and I have no complaints about the washing performance, but the controls are awkward. Its spin cycle isn't great either, but if you're short on cash, this machine is a blessing. Two weeks ago, the drum started leaking. It's good that it has leak protection, otherwise the neighbors would have had to repair it. The bottom line is: the washing machine works well, but it's unreliable and won't last long.
