Resetting a Zanussi washing machine
In some cases, users need to reset their Zanussi washing machine. For example, if the machine freezes during a cycle. Let's find out if Zanussi washing machines have a dedicated reset button, or what button combination can be used to reset the cycle settings.
Is it possible to reset Zanussi equipment?
According to the equipment manual, the Zanussi washing machine does not have the ability to reset. If the machine freezes during operation, you must turn off its power using the button and then unplug the power cord from the outlet. Next, the device should be left in this position for 15-20 minutes, and then try to turn it on again.
If the machine does not respond to pressing the power button, you can immediately unplug the power cord from the socket.
These steps reset all settings of your Zanussi washing machine. If the freezing continues after these steps, there's a malfunction. Machines equipped with a display will display a corresponding error code in this situation.
If there's no display, check the blinking indicators on the control panel. This will help you determine what fault the washing machine is indicating. You can decipher the error by consulting the machine's manual. If the machine isn't repaired, it will freeze constantly, and a reboot won't help.
Examples of error codes
To "revive" your washing machine, you need to figure out what exactly is broken. Look at the display or dashboard to see what kind of malfunction the machine is reporting. There are quite a lot of codes, their decoding can be found in the instructions. Let's describe the most common mistakes.
- E11. This code indicates that water is entering the machine's tank very slowly or not at all. This malfunction can have various causes: a broken inlet valve, a blockage, insufficient water pressure in the water supply system, etc.
- E13. This error indicates a leak, specifically water collecting in the washing machine's tray.
- E21. This code indicates that the machine is unable to drain the water from the tank. This problem can have various causes: a clogged drain system, a broken pump, a faulty control module, etc.
- E24. The error indicates a burnt-out track of the triac that controls the operation of the drain pump.
- EC1. Notifies that the washing machine's inlet valve is blocked.
- EF indicates a blockage in the drain system. The debris filter, drain hose, or pump housing will need to be cleaned.
- E53. The error indicates that the circuit controlling the motor's triac has broken.
- E54. The code indicates that the contacts on the relay that controls the motor reverse are stuck together.
- E55. The electric motor electrical circuit has broken.
- E56. Indicates that the signal from the tachometer sensor has not been received for a long time.
- E57. Notifies that the system current is greater than 15 amps. This could be caused by a damaged motor or a faulty control module.

- E58. Indicates the electric motor's phase current is greater than 4.5 amps. This could indicate a faulty motor or control board.
- E62. This error message appears when the water in the tank heats up too quickly, reaching 90 degrees Celsius within 5 minutes. In this case, you'll need to check the heating element for damage. A multimeter will be required for diagnostics. The normal resistance of the element is between 5.7 and 6.3 ohms.
- E66, E3A. This code indicates a faulty heating element relay.
- E68. A ground fault has occurred in the tubular heater circuit.
- E69. Indicates that the heating element is not functioning.
- E35. Indicates a large amount of water in the tank. In this situation, the pressure switch should be checked.
- E36. The code is displayed when the ABS heating element safety sensor is not working.
- E37. Notifies about a faulty L1S sensor.
- E38. Indicates a blockage in the pipe connecting the tank and the pressure switch.
- E39. Indicates a malfunction of the sensor that detects water overflow.
In Zanussi machines without a display, you'll need to recognize the error code by the blinking indicators. To understand which LEDs indicate what, consult the machine's manual.
The error codes are deciphered in the user manual.
If you have a model equipped with the EWM 1000 module, the error code is read by the blinking of two lights: the "Start/Pause" button indicator and the program end LED. They blink fairly quickly, with intervals of 0.4 seconds. The pause between each series of signals is approximately 2.5 seconds. Therefore, identifying the error can be difficult. The number of blinks of the program end LED indicates the first digit of the code, and the number of blinks of the "Start/Pause" indicator indicates the second digit.
