After purchasing a washing machine, owners are eager to test their "home helper." But there's no need to rush; it's important to properly start the machine for the first time to prevent breakdowns during the initial stages of use. When starting the washing machine, follow a few rules.

The main rule is to perform the first wash in the washing machine without any laundry. It's also important to remove all shipping bolts before starting the machine. Third, the machine must be properly installed and connected to the power supply. Let's take a closer look at all the details.

We are preparing to put the machine into operation

The first-time setup instructions are the same for all washing machines, and the procedure doesn't depend on the model. When purchasing a new machine, be sure to read the user manual—it contains all the necessary information about the equipment. The instructions for the appliance describe all the details: how to properly connect the machine, level the body, and start washing.

It is important not to forget to remove the transport bolts from the washing machine drum before using the machine for the first time.

Shipping bolts are necessary to securely hold the washing machine's tub and drum during transport. These fasteners prevent the unit from moving within the machine's housing, thereby protecting the internal components. Be sure to remove the screws before connecting the appliance to the power supply.

If you start the machine with the shipping bolts in place, the motor will spin the drum, which will be secured with screws. Excessive load can quickly damage the washing machine's key components. Before starting your automatic washing machine for the first time, make sure:

• the washing machine is connected to utilities;
• transport bolts have been removed from the tank (depending on the model, there may be 4 to 6 of them; it is better to check the exact number in the instructions);
• the body of the “home assistant” is installed at the level, the legs are adjusted;
• There are no foreign objects left inside the drum, such as tools used to install the washing machine.

If all conditions are met, you can start the first wash. The test cycle also follows specific guidelines. We'll explain the recommendations in this section.

Let's perform the first launch of the SM correctly

Once the washing machine is level and connected to the utilities, you can move on. The first wash must be run “empty”, that is, without any items in the drum. This is necessary to avoid damaging the laundry.

Every washing machine is tested at the factory before it's released for sale. Therefore, traces of fluids, oil stains, and dirt remain inside the machine. That's why the drum should be empty during the first cycle. During the "empty" wash, the machine will clear out debris and "ventilate" itself of unpleasant chemical odors.

When you first activate your automatic machine, please follow these instructions:

• Close the drum door tightly (remember that there should be no items in the washing machine);
• Pour washing powder into the tray (use washing machine-grade detergent; hand-wash granules are not suitable). Liquid detergents can also be used;

For a test cycle, use half as much detergent as you would for a normal wash cycle.

• plug the machine into the power outlet (be sure to connect the equipment directly to the outlet, without using an extension cord);
• Use the selector knob to select the Cotton program or another long program and press the Start/Pause button.

Now it's time to observe your "home assistant." Normally, the following points will be noted:

• the drum moves in accordance with the stage of the cycle (more slowly during washing, faster during spinning);
• water heats up to the set temperature in 5-7 minutes;
• no leaks are observed;
• there are no extraneous noises;
• water drainage is carried out properly;
• During spinning, the centrifuge “accelerates” to the set speed.

If you notice any significant malfunction, stop the washing machine and unplug it. Drain the water through the emergency hose or debris filter. New washing machines are under warranty, so don't attempt to disassemble the machine yourself. It's best to call a service center—diagnostics and servicing are free under warranty.

Chemistry for the initial start-up

Many users are interested in whether it makes a difference which detergent they use when first starting their washing machine. You can pour any powder or gel for automatic washing into the tray. There are also special compounds that are more effective at removing factory dirt and odors, such as Helfer Start HLR0054.

This product is capable of removing grease stains. Helfer's main components, surfactants, effectively clean the insides of your washing machine from oil, grease, and carbon deposits. This product is approved for use with all types of washing machines. It's used in the same way as regular washing powder:

• one packet of Helfer Start is poured into the powder container;
• the washing mode is selected (this should be a long program with water heating up to 60 degrees, for example, “Cotton”);
• the test cycle is activated.

In fact, there's nothing complicated about using an automatic washing machine for the first time. The main thing is to follow a few basic rules outlined in the equipment manual.

Don't forget to take care of your machine.

To ensure your washing machine lasts a long time, it needs proper care. Here are some simple yet effective tips for this purpose. Users should:

• After each use, wipe the surface of the drum and the hatch sealing cuff from dirt and moisture, rinse the powder receptacle and dry it;
• Keep the drum door open to allow the machine to air out. This will help prevent mold and mildew from forming in the washing machine.
• clean the debris filter regularly (about once every 2-3 months);
• Use only high-quality detergents for washing, without exceeding the dosage indicated on the packaging;
• Periodically descale the inside of the machine.

It's also advisable to install a filter in front of the washing machine. This will prevent various impurities found in tap water from entering the machine. The filter element is mounted in front of the inlet hose.

Proper care and timely maintenance ensure your automatic washing machine will last as long as possible. Following all recommendations can significantly extend the machine's service life.
