First launch of the Beko washing machine
A new washing machine requires special attention. Simply installing and connecting the machine to the network isn't enough – before loading clothes into the drum, a number of essential steps must be taken. Otherwise, not only will your laundry remain dirty, but the machine itself will be damaged. To avoid any unpleasant surprises, the first use of your Beko washing machine should be carried out strictly according to the manufacturer's instructions. We'll explain how to check the machine's readiness, start a program, and avoid problems.
We make sure the unit is ready
Before starting your washing machine, it's important to ensure it's working properly and understand its basic controls. First, open the user manual and decipher all the icons and buttons on the control panel. Next, check its readiness for the upcoming wash cycle, paying attention to four important points.
- Are the fasteners secure? Ideally, a new washing machine should be installed by a professional. Loosely tightened clamps on the inlet and drain hoses will “fly off” during the first wash and cause leaks.
- Have the shipping bolts been removed? The drum clamp is necessary for safe transportation and ensures the integrity of the shock-absorbing system. However, operating the washing machine with the drum secured is prohibited—the machine will not be able to accelerate, which could cause severe internal damage. All screws securing the drum tank must be removed and replaced with the plastic plugs included. The number of fasteners required for a specific Beko model can be easily found in the instructions.
Free warranty service does not cover damage caused by unremoved transport bolts!
- Is the drum clean? Often, components are stored inside the washing machine and need to be removed before starting the machine.
- Has all magazine "protection" been removed? For safety during transport, the equipment is covered with adhesive tape, secured with plastic ties, and lined with foam. All foreign objects are removed before using the machine.

If the answer to all questions is "yes," you can run the machine for the first time. However, the initial cycle is not considered a full wash; it's called a "technical run." We'll explain how and why this is done below.
Technical launch
After checking the machine's readiness and reading the instructions, you can begin using it. To start washing, simply plug the power cord into a power outlet, open the water supply valve, load the laundry into the drum, and press the start button. However, it's best to run the cycle first, rather than rushing.
A technical run is defined as an "empty" wash cycle, meaning a cycle with an empty drum. This helps accomplish two tasks simultaneously:
- the factory grease will be washed off the internal surfaces of the machine, which will also eliminate the unpleasant odor;
- You can safely check the machine's operation (water intake, drain function, noise level, presence of increased vibration, etc.).
The first run of Beko is done without laundry, but with detergent!
During a test wash, do not add any laundry, as there is a high risk of damaging items with grease remaining in the drum or not washing the clothes properly due to a manufacturing defect. It's better not to take risks and test the machine while it's idle. On the contrary, detergent is always added to clean the unit from dirt and odor.
If a leak, program error, or other system malfunction is detected during the first run, the cycle is stopped and a service technician is called to your home. Remember that most manufacturers, including Beko, provide free one-year warranty service.
User settings
The first empty wash can be done on any program, regardless of the type or color of the laundry. However, subsequent use of the washing machine requires selecting the appropriate mode to protect items from excessive temperatures and spinning. This isn't easy – modern Beko machines have an impressive control panel with dozens of buttons, lights, and symbols.
For first-time users of a washing machine, navigating the numerous buttons, symbols, and sensors can be challenging. Trying to figure it out won't work—you need to open the manual and carefully read the symbols. The manual always lists all available programs.
When choosing a washing program, you need to focus on the color and type of laundry being washed!
To summarize, starting a washing machine happens like this:
- we connect the equipment to the power grid;
- turn the valve on the water pipe to the open position;
- We sort the laundry and load it into the drum (do not forget about the drum’s capacity – it is prohibited to exceed the maximum or lower the minimum load weight);
- close the hatch tightly;

- add detergent (we’ll discuss how and how much later);
- Using the programmer, we select the appropriate mode and, if necessary, vary the washing parameters (spin speed, water temperature, cycle duration);
- Press "Start" and wait for the program to finish.
Each mode has its own temperature range, spin speed and duration. Most modern Beko notifies you when the cycle is finished with a sound signal. However, do not rush to open the hatch - the electronic lock is held by the system for 2-3 minutes after the end of the wash cycle.
Adding a product
For a thorough and high-quality wash, you need detergent. A special compartment—the powder dispenser—is located on the left side of the Beko machine. It's easy to use: simply grab the handle, pull it toward you, and the dispenser slides out.
To make the task easier, there are a few things to consider:
- buy only high-quality and safe products that are suitable for the type of laundry being washed;
- pay attention to the type of powder and gel (there are compositions for automatic, hand washing and semi-automatic machines);
- use a measuring cup for correct dosage;
- distribute the powder correctly (each dispenser has three sections, the left one is for the main program, the central one is for liquid detergents, stain removers and conditioners, and the right one is for using the pre-wash mode).
When adding detergent, follow the dosage!
The modern market also offers alternatives: gel capsules and cleaning wipes. These products are placed directly into the drum and have a more targeted effect. However, their enhanced effect comes at a cost, which is several times higher than that of regular powder or gel.
Helpful tips
A washing machine makes a person's life much easier, and operating the machine is easier than it seems. If you follow the basic rules, the machine will serve you for many years without any problems or breakdowns. You just need to follow these recommendations:
- do not neglect the instructions;
- If you have hard water, use a water softener;
- do not change the mode during the washing process;
- after the end of the cycle, leave the door open;
- Do not place heavy objects on the washing machine.
Your first Beko start-up will go smoothly if you follow the instructions. The key is to be prepared and follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
