First start of the Candy washing machine
A newly purchased washing machine isn't just about getting home. Before loading the laundry and starting the cycle, you must complete a series of mandatory steps outlined in the manufacturer's instructions. Failure to do so can damage not only the items being washed but also the machine itself, which can break down and malfunction. To avoid damaging the washing machine, the first use of your Candy washing machine must be done correctly. We'll explain these steps in detail.
Is the machine "unmothballed"?
The first time you use the machine, it will go smoothly and without any complications if you follow the instructions. Therefore, the first step is to carefully read the user manual for operating instructions. We'll immediately get to grips with how to operate the car: decipher the icons on the dashboard and get familiar with the modes and options.
Then we prepare the machine for washing using the following steps:
- adjust the position of the washing machine;
- we are establishing communications;
- remove the transport bolts;
- cleaning the drum;
- We remove factory stickers.
Now let's look at each point in more detail. Ideally, a washing machine should be installed by professionals. It's important to do it correctly.
Adjust the position of the housing and securely fasten the clamps on the drain and inlet hoses. Otherwise, the washing machine will bounce around the room, and weak fasteners will come loose and cause leaks.
The second step is to remove the transport bolts. These are long screws that secure the tank in place, preventing it from loosening and becoming damaged during long-distance transport. However, starting the machine without removing them is prohibited—the motor will attempt to spin the stationary drum, which will resist, damaging the cylinder itself, the shaft, the bearings, the shock absorbers, and other adjacent components. Therefore, the bolts must be removed: first, they are loosened, then pushed inward, and a special plastic plug is inserted into the hole. The number of fasteners and their location on a specific Candy is specified in the user manual.
Damage to the machine after washing with transport bolts is not considered a warranty case.
Next, we check the machine's cleanliness. Carefully remove all foreign stickers and tape, as well as plastic ties and foam blocks, from the machine's body. Be sure to check the drum, where parts included with the Candy machine are often located. It's important to clean everything and wipe the machine with a dry cloth.
After all these steps, the machine will be ready for its first wash. However, it's too early to load the drum—it needs to be pre-started first. We'll discuss what this is and why it's needed below.
Mandatory test activation
Once you've prepared the machine and read the instructions, you can begin the technical startup. Turning on the washing machine is standard: plug the power cord into the outlet, turn on the water supply valve, and press the "Start" button. However, the test cycle differs slightly from a regular wash cycle.
A maintenance cycle is an "empty" wash—in simple terms, starting the machine with an empty drum. It allows you to:
- wash off the factory grease and remove the unpleasant smell typical of new equipment;
- Check the machine's functionality (is it filling with enough water, is the pump working, is the washing machine making a lot of noise, is there any suspicious vibration, etc.).
The technical start-up is carried out with an empty drum and with the addition of detergent!
An empty drum is a must for the first run. Loading items into the drum can have disastrous results: laundry will become soiled with grease or won't finish washing due to a manufacturing defect. It's wiser to play it safe and run the machine through an empty cycle. Adding detergent is essential to thoroughly clean the inside of the machine.
If a manufacturing defect is noticed during the first wash (a leak, a program failure, a weak spin, or other malfunctions), it is necessary to end the cycle early and call a repairman. Please remember that the consumer is entitled to free warranty service for one year. Candy company also provides this opportunity.
Setting up equipment
Any cycle is suitable for a dry run, but the key is to use a high-temperature, long-lasting cycle. For subsequent washes, the program selection depends on the type and color of the fabric being washed. Finding the right cycle is easy – modern Candy machines offer a wide variety of options and features.
The purpose of most modes can be intuitively guessed, especially if the user has previously owned a washing machine. However, it's better not to guess or rely on your own logic; instead, carefully study the dashboard icons using the instructions. The manual will always describe all available modes, including temperature, duration, spin intensity, and other parameters.
Once you have figured out the modes, you can start the washing machine according to the following scheme:
- connect to electricity;
- turn on the water supply tap;
- Sort the laundry and load it into the drum (remember the maximum and minimum load weight);
- close the door until it clicks;
- add powder or gel;
- choose the appropriate program;
- if desired, adjust the cycle parameters manually;
- Press and hold "Start" and wait for the machine to start working.
After that, all that remains is to wait for the cycle to complete. Typically, Candy machines signal the end of the program with a final melody. However, the hatch can be opened 2-3 minutes after the signal – for safety reasons, the electronic lock is released with a slight delay.
Laundry detergent dispenser
Without detergent, clothes won't get a good clean. But it's important to add the concentrate to the washing machine correctly so that the powder isn't washed out all at once, but is dispensed into the drum in measured doses. For this purpose, washing machines are equipped with a dispenser, or, in simpler terms, a powder drawer. It's located in the upper left part of the machine and opens by grasping the tab and pulling the drawer toward you.
When using detergents, it is worth remembering a few nuances:
- Only products marked “machine” on the packaging are suitable for machine washing;
- only high-quality and natural ingredients are selected;

- for delicate fabrics, use gels that dissolve better in cold water;
- the powder and gel are dosed correctly (using a measuring cup or cap);
- the house should have a detergent for white, black and colored laundry;
- Do not confuse the compartments of the powder drawer (the left compartment is for the main program, the right one is for pre-wash, the central one is for additional liquids, softeners, and bleaches).
It's important to use the right amount of detergent: too little will not remove stains, and too much will cause excessive foaming!
Candy can also be used with modern detergents, such as cleaning wipes or gel capsules. These devices are placed directly into the drum and are characterized by their concentrated action and safety. However, they are significantly more expensive than standard powder or gel detergents.
