First start of the Haier washing machine
When you buy a new washing machine, you're eager to start using it. However, there's no need to rush – the first use of a Haier washing machine requires following certain guidelines. Ignoring these recommendations can cause the machine to break on the very first day. Let's figure out how to properly prepare your "home assistant" for use.
Is the machine ready for work?
Before starting the machine, read the instructions for the equipment. The user manual explains how to connect the washing machine to the house utilities and level it. There is also information about the main washing programs and additional functions provided by the intelligence.
Please remember to remove the transport screws before using the machine for the first time.
Shipping screws secure the drum of the washing machine. This prevents it from hitting other parts of the machine during transport. The number and location of the screws are specified in the equipment manual (some models may have four, others six).
After removing the shipping bolts, place plugs in the resulting holes. These are included with the machine. Do not operate the machine without removing the shipping bolts, as this may result in damage to the washing machine. In this case, the appliance will not be repaired under warranty, as the failure is the user's fault.
Before the first launch, check that:
- all transport bolts are unscrewed from the body;
- the machine is properly connected to utility lines;
- the washing machine is level;
- there is no foam, polyethylene, tools, etc. left in the drum.
After this, you can begin your first wash. First, a test cycle will run. We'll explain what to do next.
Washing with an empty drum
What's special about a test run of an automatic washing machine? It must be performed without any laundry in the washer. The first cycle must be run empty.
Every washing machine is inspected at the factory before it's released. During assembly, parts become contaminated with oil, fuel oil, and other technical fluids. All this dust and dirt remains inside the machine.
The first wash is run to clean the inside of the machine, so the cycle is carried out without laundry.
To avoid damaging your items, don't throw them in the machine the first time you run it. This could leave stains on your clothes. A dry cycle will help clean the inside of the washer and eliminate any unpleasant odors.
The algorithm of actions when starting a test cycle will be as follows:
- close the hatch door (after making sure that there is nothing in the “centrifuge”);
- Pour or add laundry detergent into the dispenser (this can be any concentrate suitable for an automatic washing machine);
- connect the washing machine to the electrical network (you cannot use an extension cord, the power cord must be connected directly to the outlet);
- Use the programmer to select any high-temperature washing mode, lasting at least 2 hours;
- Click the "Start" button.

Next, you need to observe how the machine performs its first wash. So, don't go far from the appliance. Watch how the machine:
- collects water in the tank;
- spins the drum (when washing, the movement should be slow, when spinning – more intense);
- brings water to a given temperature (usually heating takes 5-7 minutes);
- pumps water out of the system and discharges it into the sewer.
It's also important to check for leaks. Inspect the inlet and drain hose connections and the machine body. Notice how much the machine vibrates during operation. If the washing machine literally "jumps" around the room, it's likely installed incorrectly.
If you detect any malfunction, interrupt the program and unplug the washing machine. Then call the service center – if the problem is due to a manufacturing defect, they will repair the machine free of charge. Some companies refuse warranty repairs when the connection and installation of washing equipment was performed by a technician rather than by the customer themselves.
You shouldn't try to repair a new washing machine yourself. Doing so will definitely void the warranty. It's also prohibited to use a faulty appliance; it's dangerous. If the washing machine completes its test cycle without any problems, it's ready for further use. You can add laundry to the drum and start the wash cycle.
Start-up powder
It's worth mentioning separately what detergent is best for a test run of a Haier automatic washing machine. You can use regular powder or gel labeled "Automatic" in the detergent drawer. Avoid using hand washing granules, as they will cause excessive foaming.
If desired, you can purchase a special product for the first cycle of washing machines, such as Start HLR0054. This product combats all industrial stains and eliminates unpleasant odors.
Helfer contains surfactants that easily handle fuel oil, grease, oils, and other technical fluids. The active ingredients clean and degrease the internal parts of the machine. The product is suitable for all automatic machines.
The method of application of Helfer Start HLR0054 is standard:
- pour the product into the dispenser (into the main wash compartment);
- select a program for a test wash;
- activate the cycle.
After the test run, the machine can be used as intended. If necessary, you can run another empty cycle, selecting the "Rinse + Spin" option, to ensure all detergent residue is completely rinsed out.
Don't forget to take care of your machine.
Further use of the automatic washing machine should also be carried out in accordance with several recommendations. First, it's important to properly care for your "home helper." What does caring for a washing machine mean?
- Be sure to wipe off excess moisture from the walls and drum seal after each use of the appliance.
- Open the detergent drawer and the door slightly when the machine is turned off to allow the washing machine to air out. This will prevent mold and mildew from developing.
- Periodically wipe the device body from dust.

- Clean your washing machine's dust filter about once a month.
- Use only high-quality detergents designed specifically for automatic washing machines.
- Before using powder or gel, look at the packaging to see what the dosage should be.
Proper commissioning and proper maintenance will ensure your automatic washing machine will operate smoothly for the manufacturer's intended lifespan. Therefore, please read the instructions carefully and follow all recommendations.
