First wash in a new LG washing machine
Once a purchased automatic washing machine is installed and connected to the water supply and sewer system, new owners are eager to wash a load of clothes as quickly as possible. There's no need to rush; the first start-up of an LG washing machine should be done carefully, following the manufacturer's recommendations. The initial start-up process will determine the washing machine's future performance.
Let's get ready first
Before you start your first wash, you should inspect the machine to make sure it is fully ready for use. It is important to carefully read the user manual to understand the basic operation of the unit, the main cleaning modes, available options and additions.
Incorrect control of the intelligence may disrupt the functionality of the main control module of the SMA.
Also, before the initial launch, it is recommended:
- Check the secure fastening of the inlet and drain hoses. The drain hose must be secured with particular care. If the tank is actively draining waste liquid, it may pop out of the opening and cause flooding.
- Make sure all shipping bolts are removed. These bolts are designed to secure the washing machine during transit. Always remove the shipping bolts before starting the washing machine. Insert the special plugs included with the machine into the holes. The number of bolts should be specified in the appliance's instructions. Even one bolt remaining inside can cause rapid damage to the machine.

- Open the hatch door and carefully inspect the drum surface. Make sure there are no foreign objects or debris;
- Check to see if all the adhesive tape has been removed from the washing machine body. This is usually used to secure machine parts.
After completing the inspection, open the valve on the inlet hose slightly. This will allow water to be drawn from the utility lines. This is a mandatory preparatory step before starting the washing machine.
Activating for the first time
LG washing machine manufacturer encourages users to perform the first wash cycle "empty," meaning without loading any items into the drum. It's also recommended to constantly remain near the machine being tested to ensure prompt response to any malfunctions. The procedure for starting a "test" wash is as follows:
- plug the machine into the network;
- Close the hatch door tightly until it clicks into place;
- pour washing powder or liquid detergent into the detergent dispenser;

- Using the program selector knob or the buttons on the control panel, activate the “Cotton 60°” mode;
- wait until the washing machine finishes performing the set mode;
While the machine is operating, listen to the sounds it makes, and make sure there are no extraneous noises, hums, or grinding sounds.
- After the wash cycle is complete, inspect the machine. Make sure the drain and water inlet hoses are fully seated and there are no leaks. Look underneath the machine to ensure there are no leaks.
During operation, your LG washing machine shouldn't vibrate excessively or bounce around the room. If the machine shakes or wobbles during the wash cycle, check that the machine is installed correctly and that the floor underneath is level. If the machine makes noise, grinds, or hums when first started, you should call a technician from the service center and stop using the washing machine until the problem is fixed.
It's recommended to do the first wash without clothes, as the inside of the washing machine, particularly the hoses and drum surface, can be contaminated with the fluids and oils used during factory assembly. Washing items in a new machine can result in a few stubborn stains.
The purpose of a test wash is not to clean the laundry, but to check the proper functioning of the washing machine and the tightness of the hose connections.
Washing clothes
By running the machine without any items for the first time, the inside of the machine will be thoroughly cleaned. The next cycle can now be started with a load of laundry in the drum. Sort the clothes, washing colored, white, and black items separately.
Strictly monitor the permitted weight of items that can be loaded into the drum; do not overload the washing machine.
Close the door tightly and fill the detergent drawer with the required amount of detergent. The main wash drawer is marked II; this is where you should add the detergent. If desired, add fabric softener to the middle drawer.
Now you can start the machine. Select the desired wash program, for example, "Delicates." Adjust the water temperature and spin speed if necessary. Press the "Start" button. After the allotted time has elapsed, remove the fresh and wrung-out items from the drum.
