How to connect a motor from an Ardo washing machine?

Washing machine breakdowns aren't always due to a broken electric motor—sometimes the motor remains intact and can be useful around the house. In skilled hands, an Ardo motor can easily be transformed into a sharpening machine or a garden shredder. All you need to do is think through the design of your future invention and understand the motor's structure. To give your appliance a new lease of life, you need to learn how to connect the Ardo motor to the power supply. All diagrams and examples are below.

Engine characteristics

Most Ardo washing machines are equipped with asynchronous three-phase electric motors. These motors are cost-effective and feature a simple design, operate virtually silently, and are relatively easy to maintain. A significant advantage is that they can be easily re-used for household use after a machine failure. The main thing is that the machine is in good working order.

There are many options for using the Ardo washing machine motor – it all depends on its power and the needs of the technician. First of all, we pay attention to the characteristics of the asynchronous motor, which are necessarily indicated on the factory marking sticker. So, a model with the following parameters is often found:

• power: 450V (at low speeds – 280V);
• speed gain: maximum acceleration up to 2830 rpm, minimum – 300;
• capacitor: 16 μF.

From the motor of a broken Ardo washing machine, you can make a grinding machine, a crusher, a concrete mixer, a vibrating table, and a mini-mill.

The simplest thing you can do with a working washing machine motor is sharpen knives and scissors. Simply securely mount the electric motor to a workbench and attach a sharpening stone or grinding wheel to the shaft. Then, simply plug the machine in and get started.

The engine can also become the basis for:

• concrete mixers (an Ardo tank will also come in handy here, with all the holes in it covered);
• vibrator for concrete shrinkage (you will also need a metal pin and thick wire);
• vibrating table (it is enough to attach the connected motor to a metal table structure);
• a miniature mill, grain crusher or crusher (you just need to equip the electric motor with blades and a tank).

A washing machine motor, when properly connected to the power supply, can power almost any mechanism. All you need to do is think through the design of your future invention, find the components, and connect the terminals correctly. We'll discuss the latter in detail below.

Simple connection diagram

Regardless of the motor's intended use, the connection diagram to a 220V power supply remains the same. The Ardo asynchronous motor has five connectors that are used to configure the connection to the power cord. Take the power cord and plug, check the markings, and get ready to start the motor.

To start the engine at low speeds, proceed as follows:

• we connect the white terminal to the top leftmost connector;
• we place the second white terminal below;
• we fix the yellow wire in the extreme upper right groove;
• We connect the thick blue wire to the condensate (the condensate is used to adjust the motor rotation to the left or right);
• We insert the plug into the socket.

Before connecting the engine to the electrical network, understand the wire markings and check their purpose using a multimeter.

To change the direction of rotation, move the capacitor terminal from the left connector to the right, or vice versa. To start the engine at high RPM, move the white wires from the leftmost slots to the center ones.

When directly connecting the Ardo motor to a 220V power supply, you should be extremely careful. It is strongly recommended to follow safety precautions and securely fasten the electric motor to the surface before starting. Otherwise, the accelerating device may jump, break, or cause harm to the health of the technician.
