Types of semi-automatic machines

All semi-automatic washing machines can be divided into two groups:

A semi-automatic machine with two tanks has a rectangular body, in which a washing tank and a slightly smaller spin tank are installed. Semi-automatic single-dish machines simplify the entire washing process. Machines with an activator consist of the following parts:

• metal body of cylindrical or rectangular shape;
• washing tank-centrifuge with activator;
• internal tank;
• electric motor;
• drive mechanism.

During washing, the centrifuge tank does not move; only the agitator rotates, driven by the motor through the gearbox. During the spin cycle, the agitator stops and the centrifugal tank begins to spin, causing water to rise and drain into the washing machine's internal tank. The water is then removed by a pump, or it drains through a hose by gravity. Such machines are complex to manufacture and unreliable.

In drum-type washing machines, all washing steps take place in a perforated drum, into which laundry is loaded from the top. During washing, the drum rotates at a maximum of 60 rpm, and during the spin cycle, it can reach 800 rpm. In these machines, you must manually fill and change the water, and set the washing machine to the desired mode. It's worth noting that these machines are gentler on clothes, making them suitable for wool and silk.
