How to use an Electrolux washing machine?
Most washing machines operate on a standard principle, so replacing an old one shouldn't present any difficulties. However, some modern models have a host of additional options, modes, and features that can only be discovered by carefully studying the operating instructions. Let's take a look at how to use an Electrolux washing machine, as this popular manufacturer offers appliances with unique programs, and not every owner will be able to easily navigate them.
Preparing your laundry correctly
Information on the proper use of your Electrolux appliance can be found in the instructions. First, prepare the machine for washing by loading the laundry, adding detergent, and selecting the desired cycle. Let's look at the user procedure in more detail.
- Loading clothes into the drum. First, open the door by pulling the special handle. Place each item inside, one at a time, avoiding crumpling the laundry. Carefully inspect each item for pins, other loose parts, and any foreign objects in pockets. It's best to turn the clothes inside out. Once the drum is full, close the door.
- Filling the detergent drawer: Pull it out as far as it will go, measure out the required amount of gel or dry powder, and place it in the designated compartment. If necessary, conditioner (rinse aid) is poured into the compartment with the flower icon;
- Selecting a washing program. The front panel features a dedicated program wheel that can be rotated in either direction. Once the user selects a specific program, the display will display temperature and spin speed recommendations. Settings can be changed manually by pressing the corresponding buttons.

- Starting the machine. Press the "Start/Pause" button, and the machine will begin washing. If the green indicator on the screen stops flashing, you've done everything correctly and the machine is working properly. Pressing the "Start" button again will pause the wash cycle. The green indicator will flash again.
- End of the washing program. When the process is complete, the machine stops automatically. The display shows "0:00" and a short beep sounds.
- Drain the water. The programmer wheel is set to zero. Then, manually set the desired drum speed and select "Drain" or "Spin." The machine is started using the familiar "Start" button.
- Finishing the wash. After spinning, remove the laundry from the machine, opening the door first. Look inside the drum to ensure nothing remains. Then, turn off the power and turn off the water supply.
Important! To prevent mold from growing in your washing machine, leave the door open for a while after washing and wipe the detergent drawer and the inside of the door dry.
If a specific washing program has already started, some settings can still be changed. To do this, first stop the machine by pressing the "Start/Pause" button, then turn the dial to the cancel position. You can now select a different program and restart the machine.
Sometimes, the user needs to open the door urgently. After pressing the "Pause" button, the lock indicator should go out. If this doesn't happen, the appliance has already started heating the water, and there's too much liquid in the tank. You'll need to stop the appliance completely by returning the selector knob to the "off" position.
Description of washing algorithms
Before purchasing a household appliance, buyers inevitably ask themselves what washing modes are available. By reviewing the program list in advance, they can select the appropriate settings, preventing laundry from being damaged by high temperatures and excessive spin cycles. First, it's recommended to carefully examine the buttons on the control panel.
The "40'40°" mode significantly reduces washing time. The machine runs at high speeds at 40 degrees Celsius, taking just 40 minutes to complete.
Let's look at other options and their features:
- "Delicate Wash." Gentle spins, low spin speed, low temperature, and a large water fill. Fabrics are protected from abrasion and retain their color.
- "Children's Clothing." This program includes multiple rinse cycles. This makes it suitable for washing not only baby clothes but also clothes for those with allergies.
- "Dark Fabrics." The color does not fade because the garment is washed in large volumes of water at low temperatures. The manufacturer recommends using liquid detergents for dark fabrics.
- "Wool." Items are gently washed without subsequent shrinkage. The fabric does not pill.
- "Hand wash" is suitable for the most delicate fabrics. It prevents items from shrinking or stretching.
- "Fitness." Washing takes about an hour at 40 degrees Celsius. Designed for cleaning cotton and synthetic sportswear.
- "Down." Innovative devices that hold up to 9 kg of laundry provide special care for down and feather items. This technology eliminates bed mites and their waste products.
- Shirts. Problem areas (collars, underarms) are washed without damaging the fabric. Clothes are wrinkle-free when washed with a minimum spin cycle at low temperatures (up to 40 degrees Celsius).

Most Electrolux models feature a self-cleaning function. The process takes an average of two hours, thoroughly cleaning the drum, hose, debris filter, and other components. When starting the self-cleaning mode, there should be no laundry in the machine; it starts empty at a temperature of 70 degrees. Detergents are also not used.
For speed washing lovers
Basic programs have a significant drawback: washing takes too long, 1-3 hours. A lengthy cleaning process for dirty laundry isn't always worth the high water and electricity costs. For this reason, Electrolux machines offer express modes that take very little time:
- Mini. Suitable for lightly soiled cotton items. The machine automatically sets the temperature to 30 degrees Celsius, but the user can override the settings and run the wash at temperatures between 0 and 90 degrees Celsius. The wash cycle takes just 39 minutes.
- Mini 14. To ensure thorough cleaning, run the machine in this mode at a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, and do not fill the drum with more than 2 kg of laundry.
- Mix 40. This mode can be used to wash any fabric. It uses a standard spin cycle and a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius.
Some Electrolux washing machines feature a 17-minute wash cycle. This program is designed to freshen virtually unsoiled laundry, rinse, or remove unpleasant odors from stale clothes. This cycle can be used on any fabric.
Special functions
To ensure your washing machine isn't constantly stressed or operating at its limits, it's best to read the user manual and familiarize yourself with the additional options. These options make washing much easier and safer. Let's take a look at the special features of Electrolux washing machines:
- child lock;
- removal of hair and lint;
- economical use of detergent with its uniform use during the washing process;
- imbalance control (the laundry does not form lumps or accumulate in one spot);
automatic restart of the started cycle after a power outage or power surge; - liquid level control using a touch sensor, overflow prevention;
- the ability to wash half a load using express options.
Electrolux appliances are easy to use thanks to several innovative features. These units feature an LCD display that allows you to control the wash temperature, spin cycle, and remaining cycle time. While the machine is compact, its spacious drum can hold between 5 and 7 kg. The detergent dispenser has a separate compartment for liquid gel detergents.
