How to use a Gorenje washing machine

The instructions included with the appliance will always guide the new owner on how to properly use their Gorenje washing machine. If you don't understand anything, refer to the instructions, read them carefully, and follow the instructions. This will ensure long-lasting, trouble-free operation of the appliance.

Preparing the machine for connection

Without the necessary experience, the best solution is to entrust the connection procedure to professionals by contacting a service center. However, if you have the necessary skills, the connection is straightforward; all necessary steps are clearly outlined in the instructions.

Before starting the connection, the equipment must be left in the room for at least 2 hours, during which time it will warm up to the ambient temperature. If you bring equipment in from the cold and immediately begin connecting it, there is a risk of damaging the components due to condensation, so keep a close eye on this.

Afterwards, you need to carefully remove the transport packaging, be careful, the edges of the machine body can be very sharp.

Remove the shipping screws; failure to do so could damage the washing machine. Move the hoses aside and unscrew the screws on the back of the machine. Next, remove the two mounting brackets attached to the body; pull them toward you. Insert the brackets into the shipping screws and remove them by turning them 90 degrees. Once the screws are removed, cavities will form; these should be sealed with the special plugs included with the machine.

It's important to choose the right surface for your washing machine. It should be level and not sag under the machine's weight, and it shouldn't be slippery. Make sure the machine is level, otherwise it will hum and vibrate loudly during operation. You can adjust the feet manually or with 17mm and 32mm socket wrenches.

If you plan to install a dryer on top of a washing machine, you will need to replace the standard feet with suction cup feet and secure the two units together using a special bracket.

The gap between the side surfaces, the top cover, and any interior items should be at least 2.5 cm. The rear wall should be less than 5 cm away. This is necessary to prevent the machine from hitting walls or furniture during active operation.

The washing machine door should open freely to 180 degrees, if you cannot provide enough space, you can leave it at 90 degrees, but not less.

Connecting the machine to the utilities

Before connecting, ensure that your system pressure is sufficient to supply the required amount of water (0.05-0.8 MPa). Most washing machines are equipped with a single cold water connection hose. If your washing machine has both cold and hot water outlets, screw each hose to the appropriate outlet.

The hot water pipe is marked red, and the cold water pipe is blue. The corresponding parts on the washing machine body may be marked with a color or letter: C (cold) and H (hot).

The inlet hose is specially designed for manual tightening. Do not use tools, as this can damage the nut and compromise the seal. After completing the work, check the hoses for leaks. Use only the original hoses included with the machine.

Some models of washing machines are equipped with special systems that warn of leaks. If any problems arise, the washing machine's computer will immediately stop the washing process, and protective systems will prevent water spills.

After connecting the water, you need to take care of its drainage. There are three options for this:

• place the end of the drain hose into the bathtub or sink;
• connect it to the siphon;
• install directly into the sewer system.

It is important to ensure that the hose itself is connected to the washing machine and securely fastened with a special nut or metal clamp to prevent disconnection.

After all work has been completed, you should check the tightness by running a test wash or simply selecting any program.

Special attention should also be paid to electrical outlets; they must be grounded. If the outlet is installed in the bathroom, it must be designed to protect against moisture. The outlet itself should be located away from water sources and at least 1 meter above the floor. This will prevent short circuits in the event of a leak. The outlet should be connected to a separate circuit breaker to ensure the electrical wiring can withstand the load generated by the washing machine.

Everyday use of the machine

Before the first wash, thoroughly wipe the inside of the drum and the door. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

When washing, be sure to sort your laundry by color and use the appropriate temperature. Close all pockets, zippers, snaps, buttons, etc. before washing. Remove any decorative elements.

Pay attention to the maximum laundry load in kg. Do not exceed it. Load the laundry and pour or pour the detergent powder or gel into the designated area in the dispenser.

Important! Do not use hand washing powder, as this will create excessive foam, which could damage the machine.

Make sure the machine door is completely closed and press the START button. After washing, remove all items, remove the tray and drain excess water. The machine door should be left open for a while to allow the internal elements to dry.

Selecting a washing mode

For high-quality washing, it's important to select the appropriate programs. The program will depend on the type of laundry. Selection can be made using controls or touch buttons. The main program types are:

• cotton (maximum load, washing temperature - from 20 to 90 degrees);
• mixed laundry (no more than 3.5 kg of laundry, temperature 30-40 degrees);
• rinsing (with or without conditioner);
• squeezing and draining is the final stage;
• heavy down items (1 hour, no more than 40 degrees);
• hand wash/wool (no more than 30 degrees);
• very dirty laundry (long wash cycle, about 2 hours, at 70 degrees)
• automatic (at 30 degrees, the machine itself determines the number of cycles).

In addition to the basic programs designed for washing laundry, Gorenje washing machines have additional programs that help remove limescale and dirt accumulated behind the drum. For enhanced cleaning, you can add a packet of citric acid to the drum and turn on the "Self-Clean" program. This procedure should be performed at least once every six months.
