Replacing the drain hose on a Beko washing machine

Replacing the drain hose on a Beko washing machineIf your washing machine's drain hose is damaged, don't try to fix it with tape or duct tape. Even minor defects should promptly be replaced. A new hose will also be necessary in the case of a severe blockage.

We'll explain how to replace the drain hose on a Beko washing machine. How do you choose the right components? What tools will you need?

Description of repairs

Beko automatic front-loading machines don't have a bottom tray. Therefore, replacing the drain hose yourself is easier than on other brands. You'll need pliers and a screwdriver. Also, be sure to have dry rags handy to soak up excess water.

Before starting work, disconnect the washing machine from the power supply and turn off the water inlet valve.

Next, drain the remaining water from the machine through the emergency hose. Then, unscrew the washing machine's debris filter—be prepared for some liquid to leak out of the hole. The next step is as follows:

  • cover the floor around the washing machine with dry rags;
  • tilt the washing machine back to access the bottom (you can also lay the washing machine on its right side);
  • find the connection point between the hose and the pump (the hose is connected to the snail fitting);we detach the drain hose from the pump snail
  • Use pliers to loosen the clamp holding the drain hose;
  • remove the corrugated pipe from the fitting;
  • unhook the hose from the fasteners on the washing machine body;
  • attach the new drain hose, secure the part with a clamp to the snail fitting;
  • Make sure the connections are secure.loosen the clamp and remove the hose

Replacing the drain hose is straightforward. All you need to do is return the machine to its original position and run a test cycle. It's best to select the "Rinse + Spin" program. Monitor the machine throughout the wash cycle. If water appears at the connections, turn it off and re-tighten the clamps.

Why did the old hose become unusable?

The drain hose experiences enormous strain during each flush cycle. Wastewater passes through it and is directed into the sewer. The sleeve is made of durable polypropylene, which can withstand high pressure, temperature changes, and aggressive detergents.

Despite the durability of the material, the hose sometimes requires replacement. When will a new drain hose need to be installed?

  • Damaged hose. When the corrugated hose is kinked, creases form on its surface. Over time, these creases develop into cracks. This compromises the hose's seal, causing it to leak. In this case, it's essential to replace the hose as soon as possible, otherwise it will rupture completely, and all the water from the machine will leak onto the floor.The washing machine drain hose is damaged
  • Clogged hose. Tens of liters of waste water flow through the hose. The water contains various impurities that settle on its walls. Also, due to carelessness, paper or other debris forgotten in pockets can end up in the washing machine. Foreign objects become lodged in the hose, and cleaning it is no longer effective.
  • Incorrect size. The drain hose supplied with the Beko washing machine is standard length. If the machine is located far from the drain connection, the length may not be sufficient. Joining two corrugated hoses into one is not recommended; it's better to purchase and install a new hose of sufficient size.

In private homes, rodents can damage washing machine drain hoses. In this case, after renovations, it's essential to take action and exterminate the mice. Otherwise, the problem will recur.

We buy a suitable hose

You can purchase a new sleeve in specialized stores or online. Be sure to pay attention to two indicators: the length of the drain hose and the type of corrugation. It’s better to take the old part with you and ask the seller to find an equivalent.

There are three types of corrugations in washing machines:

  • coiled (such a hose is assembled from several separate elements 50-55 cm long);
  • classic polypropylene (varies in size, can be from 1 to 3 meters);leak-proof inlet hose
  • telescopic (such a sleeve can stretch three times its initial length).

A Beko washing machine drain hose is inexpensive. So there's no point in repairing the old hose with electrical tape or duct tape. It's better to buy and connect a new corrugated hose, especially since the job isn't complicated.
