Ariston dishwasher not filling with water
Most dishwasher owners believe they can't fix large appliances themselves. In fact, many dishwasher problems can be resolved without calling a technician. For example, if your Ariston dishwasher isn't filling with water, don't rush to call a service center. A missing filling isn't always a sign of a serious problem. We'll show you how to repair your "home helper."
What could have happened to PMM Ariston?
First, you need to determine the reason why the machine can't fill with water. In some cases, the dishwasher itself can help. Modern models of dishwashers Ariston performs self-diagnosis and displays the detected fault code on the display.
The user will only need to decipher the code. A description of each error is provided in the equipment manual. After this, the range of possible malfunctions will be narrowed down.
Often, water doesn't drain into the dishwasher for simple reasons. These are fairly easy to identify. These include situations where:
- There's no water in the pipes, or the pressure is very weak. You can find out if this is the case by opening the kitchen faucet;
- the shut-off valve in front of the tee to which the PMM inlet hose is connected is closed;
- The dishwasher door is not completely closed. The machine will not begin drawing water until the safety interlock is activated;
- the inlet hose is pinched or kinked.
Sometimes, more serious problems arise. Many of these can also be resolved at home. The dishwasher may not fill due to:
- clogged flow filter;
- clogged coarse filter;
- activation of the Aquastop system (the protective module is activated when a leak is detected);
- Failure of the dishwasher's door locking device. In this case, the control unit doesn't receive a signal indicating the system is sealed, so the "brain" doesn't issue a command to fill the dishwasher with liquid;
- failure of the inlet valve (it may be clogged with debris or damaged due to water hammer in the system);
- a damaged pressure switch (in this case, the level sensor indicates that the tank is empty, water is collected and immediately drained into the sewer, but the cycle does not start);
- faulty electronic control unit.
You can clean your dishwasher's filters, replace the pressure switch, inlet valve, or blocker yourself, without having to go to a service center.
Of course, if your dishwasher is new and under warranty, you shouldn't disassemble it yourself. Diagnostics and repairs are free in this case, so it's best to entrust the work to professionals. If you no longer have a service license, you can try to repair the dishwasher yourself.
Filter before the inlet valve
Tap water in most Russian regions isn't exactly clean. It contains various impurities, including sand and other solid particles. A mesh filter protects your dishwasher from this contaminant.
Over time, the filter becomes clogged. It needs to be cleaned at least once a year. To clean the filter element:
- de-energize the machine;
- close the shut-off valve responsible for supplying water to the dishwasher;
- disconnect the inlet hose and drain the liquid from it;
- remove the filter and clean it with a brush;
- put the parts back in place.
Installing an additional filter in front of the machine's inlet hose will provide even greater protection from debris found in tap water. The in-line filter element also needs to be cleaned periodically.
The leak protection sensor is activated
Almost all modern dishwashers have the “Aquastop” option. Fault code A01 (F01), displayed on the PMM screen Ariston, indicates a leak. This error occurs when water collects in the dishwasher tray. This can occur due to ruptured hoses, a leak in the dishwasher chamber, a crack, etc.
What should you do in this situation? You need to turn off the power to the machine and determine the source of the leak. Further action will be determined based on this information. It may be necessary to replace the hoses or the seal.
Sometimes the fuse in the inlet hose trips, even though the dishwasher isn't leaking. In this situation, replacing the inlet tube will help.
Broken lock
It's easy to tell if the lock isn't working. You should hear a click when you close the dishwasher door. If there's no click, you'll need to replace the lock. Here's how:
- de-energize the dishwasher;
- open the dishwasher door, unscrew the bolts securing the front panel (or facade);
- disconnect the wiring from the lock;
- unscrew the screws holding the blocker;
- remove the device and secure the new lock in place.
Sometimes the locking mechanism gets stuck, making it impossible to open the dishwasher door on your own. In this case, it's recommended to call a professional to avoid damaging the lock or the door itself.
Filling valve PMM Ariston
A faulty solenoid valve is often the cause of a lack of water intake. The element is located at the top of the machine, where the inlet hose connects. The inlet valve can withstand pressure up to 1 MPa, but due to water hammer, the pressure can increase significantly. This leads to failure of the element.
The inlet valve may also stop working due to a break in the circuit. The wiring and contacts of the device will need to be checked. Restoring the connection between the solenoid valve and the electronic control unit will restore the dishwasher's functionality.
Sometimes the device becomes clogged with debris, and cleaning the element can help resolve the problem. In this case, remove the valve and rinse it under running warm water.
Another possible failure is a break in the solenoid valve coil. In this case, repairing the part is impractical. It is recommended to purchase and install a new intake manifold.
Experts do not recommend repairing the fill valve; it is easier and more reliable to buy and install a new part.
Liquid level sensor
The pressure switch determines how much water has accumulated in the working chamber and transmits this information to the control unit. A faulty sensor may indicate that the tank is empty. In this case, liquid is poured into the system and immediately pumped into the sewer. The cycle does not begin.
Fixing the problem is easy. Just buy a new water level sensor and install it in its place. You can find the location of the pressure switch on your Ariston model in the equipment manual.
