Everyday washing in an LG washing machine

Everyday washing in an LG washing machineWith each new washing machine model developed, more and more different auxiliary washing modes are added. However, housewives typically define a set of basic programs that they use for all occasions. This is, of course, a personal choice, but you'll agree that manufacturers aren't just trying to come up with innovative features. Chances are, adding new settings to your everyday laundry routine will dramatically improve the quality of laundry care.

LG washing machine modes

Of course, every mode in an LG washing machine has a name. But the main advantage is that all programs on modern LG washing machines are labeled on the control panel. This eliminates the need to memorize dozens of symbols or constantly refer to the manual. Although there are minor differences between models, the basic set of modes is identical.

  • Cotton. Washing time is approximately two hours (maybe a little less). Designed for washing cotton fabrics and underwear at temperatures between 45 and 90 degrees Celsius. Everything is washed perfectly thanks to the random rotation of the drum.
  • Cotton Eco (labeled as Cotton Fast on some washing machines). This cycle's characteristics are almost identical to the previous one. However, as the name suggests, the wash time is reduced to an hour and a half. As you might guess, Eco is used for lightly soiled items from the previous category.
  • Everyday wash. Designed for synthetic or blended fabrics, it takes approximately 110 minutes. The temperature is low—40 degrees Celsius. Suitable for all items that don't require special care.
  • Delicate cycle, also known as Gentle. This very gentle program is designed for washing silk and other delicate fabrics at low temperatures and lasts for 1 hour.
  • Wool. This cycle can be used for washing clothes labeled "Handwash." The water heats up to 40 degrees Celsius, but the drum moves very smoothly and easily, washing in a full 56 minutes.
  • Quick 30. The most basic cycle for lightly soiled colored and black-and-white items. The water temperature is low—30-40 degrees Celsius—and the entire process takes just half an hour.
  • Down Duvet. This cycle comes into play when you need to wash bulky and very heavy items. In an hour and a half at a temperature of 40 degrees, you can wash items with absolutely any filling. The main thing is not to put delicate fabrics in it, otherwise they may get damaged.
  • Baby clothes. One of the longest cycles—up to 140 minutes. It involves an intensive rinse (to ensure all the detergent is washed out of the fibers) and plenty of water.LG washing modes
  • Biocare. How long does it take? Just 15 minutes! Can be used on any fabric that can withstand high temperatures. Removes protein stains.
  • Hypoallergenic washing. Essentially, this is designed to thoroughly remove various allergens, including the detergent itself, from fabric fibers. Ideal for baby clothes, underwear, and other delicate items.
  • Silent wash. This mode significantly reduces machine vibration. The water heats up to only 40 degrees Celsius. It's unlikely to remove heavily stained items, but light and lightly soiled items are perfectly fine.
  • Refresh. This involves steaming rather than washing your clothes. This leaves them smooth and pleasantly scented. It takes 20 minutes.
  • Intensive 60. This option allows you to wash cotton and mixed fabrics in 60-degree water for 60 minutes. Its primary function is reduced energy consumption.
  • Dark Fabrics. This mode is suitable exclusively for all black fabrics. A special detergent and program settings prevent fading. It takes between one and a half and two hours at low temperatures.

If any of the above options doesn't suit you, you can customize all parameters by selecting "My Program." This feature is sure to be in high demand among experienced home cooks.

Features of program settings

Almost all LG washing machines have displays, so there shouldn't be any difficulties with setting up and configuring parameters. Even without a screen, there are indicator lights installed that signal the start or end of a particular mode.The program is selected using the selector wheel; the light that's on indicates the selected mode. After setting the parameters, you can see them on the display, such as the spin speed, water temperature, and the remaining wash time. There are also several buttons below the screen. These are used to:

  • adjust the spin speed, one press of the button shifts the speed value to the next;
  • start or stop the washing process;
  • regulate the temperature, the same scheme as with the spin speed;
  • turn the washing machine on and off.choose a program

Additionally, some buttons near the display are marked with special symbols. For example, buttons 1 and 2 are a lock. This means that pressing these buttons simultaneously will lock the control panel. Buttons 3 and 4 are marked with an asterisk. This starts an empty wash, which is useful if you need to run the machine without any items for some reason or run a test wash.

Important! Idle mode lasts 1 hour 35 minutes.

Nevertheless, there's no escaping the fact that some programs still have top ratings. Stirka-30 is particularly popular, as are programs for cottons and children's clothes. The gentle cycle is second. The other programs are used much less frequently, but in some cases they can be truly indispensable.

Resetting the program and draining the water

Sometimes you accidentally click the wrong program. What should you do when the wash cycle has already started and you urgently need to change the program? It's simple. You need to press the “Start/Stop” button, which is designated the same way as the Play button on TV remote controls (an arrow and two stripes). Immediately after this, the mode will be reset, and you can easily set the next one.

Things are a bit different when you need to cancel the wash cycle altogether. Draining the water from the drum is especially challenging. But it's not difficult.

  • Move the selector to the Spin value.
  • Now use the corresponding button to set the “No spin” mode.
  • After this, you'll see "1 minute" on the display. This means that the wash, rinse, and spin cycles have been canceled by default, and the machine now needs 60 seconds to drain the water.
  • Now click on “Start” and wait until the work is finished.
  • As soon as the machine unlocks the door, remove the laundry.

In any case, you can always drain the water from the tank using the tried-and-true method: the drain hose. It's located in a special, lockable opening at the bottom of the washing machine. Simply remove the hose, place a basin underneath, and remove the plug. It's not exactly convenient, but it always works!
