Cooking fish in the dishwasher

fish in the dishwasherEveryone knows the purpose of a dishwasher: washing dishes. Many long-time dishwasher users wouldn't even think that you can cook food in one. And maybe you can't cook food in one, but people are just reposting fake news online, unaware that they're being played. Let's not jump to conclusions; let's explore the issue in more detail. Let's see how people manage to cook fish in a dishwasher, and then try it ourselves.

Is this possible?

To find out if you can cook any food in a dishwasher, you need to know what happens in the washing chamber during the washing cycle. And during a wash cycle, the inside of the chamber is a living hell—not like an oven, but still hot water and high-temperature steam (60-70°C).0C), which circulate for 2-3 hours. If you simmer the fish at a temperature of 650From 2.5 hours it will be perfectly processed, while retaining the maximum amount of beneficial properties.

During washing, the dishes in the baskets become so hot that if there were food in them, they would gradually cook.

The Italians were the first to master this method of using a dishwasher.Following their lead, the Germans and Americans began experimenting. Of course, few people are fans of this method of cooking. After all, from an aesthetic standpoint, the contact of dirty dishes with the dishes in which food is being cooked is inappropriate. But if you're not squeamish and have suitable airtight containers, you can try cooking fish. We'll share the appropriate recipes with you now.

Salmon stewed in foil

You can't cook a huge piece of meat in the dishwasher, as the temperature isn't that high, although you could certainly experiment. But the fish looked perfectly edible after the dishwasher, and it was actually delicious, so here's how we cooked it.

  1. We cut the filleted fish into several thick pieces.fish in foil
  2. We placed the fish pieces in brine for 30 minutes (a glass of water, a teaspoon of salt, half a teaspoon of sugar).
  3. Place the pieces in foil and generously sprinkle with lemon juice.
  4. Wrap the pieces well in foil and put them in the refrigerator to rest for 1 hour.
  5. Uploaded inBosch SMV24AX02R dishwasher dirty dishes, put the foil-wrapped fish in the top basket and run an intensive wash at 700WITH.

As a result, when our fish was removed from the dishwasher at the end of the cycle, the foil on top was noticeably warm, even after rinsing with cold water. When we unwrapped the foil, we couldn't believe it, as the intoxicating aroma of freshly cooked salmon hit our nostrils. It tastes like classic steamed red fish. It's not the same as baking fish in foil in the oven, but the taste is still amazing.

Fish in a baking bag

Next, we tried an even bolder experiment. We decided to cook the fish whole in a baking bag. We took a 1.5-kilogram carp and marinated it for two hours in an enamel bowl with five tablespoons of olive oil and three tablespoons of lemon juice. We added salt. After two hours, we placed the carp in the baking bag, tied the bag shut, and tossed it in the dishwasher with the dirty dishes.

Just like last time, we turned on the intensive wash program and left the carp to "wash." Somewhere around the middle of the wash, a distinctive chemical odor (of detergent) began to waft through the kitchen, clearly punctuated by the smell of steamed fish. This odor left us with mixed feelings, but we continued washing, and with it, the experiment. Ultimately, a very tasty fish emerged from the bag. We can't comment on the preservation of vitamins and minerals, but the fish tasted excellent, as if it had been steamed.

To sum it up, you can cook excellent steamed fish in a dishwasher. But we personally found this experiment a bit distasteful, as dishwashers and food are psychologically incompatible. Of course, if you're clever, you could even cook noodles in a toilet cistern for the sake of experimentation. But that doesn't mean you should. We're advocates of using your dishwasher for its intended purpose, although as an experiment, it's interesting and even fun!
