How to disassemble an Electrolux dishwasher?

How to disassemble an Electrolux dishwasherWhy do users eventually find themselves disassembling their Electrolux dishwashers? It's unlikely to be purely for fun. Obviously, they need repairs. They don't want to take the machine to a repair shop, but some don't mind saving money by doing it themselves. But knowing how to do it correctly, how to find and replace the broken part, and then put everything back together without any problems—all these things need to be understood.

Preparing the unit for disassembly

It might seem like disassembling a dishwasher is a simple matter—just flip the unit upside down and you'll have access to all its components. But in reality, it's far more complicated. And it all starts with preparation. Preparation involves not only finding a workspace in the kitchen, but also researching relevant information and gathering the necessary tools and materials. Most people probably don't have a workshop in their apartment. And if you don't, don't worry; we'll just work as is. Here's what to do:

  • turn off the water supply and disconnect the dishwasher from the power supply;
  • unscrew the water supply hose and disconnect it from the sewer; if necessary, use rags and containers, as water may leak from the hoses;
  • If the machine is built-in, unscrew the fasteners holding it in the kitchen cabinet recess. If not, simply slide it out into the available space.
  • We spread out cellophane and a rag in a free place and place the dishwasher on them.

Disassembling a dishwasher in a small kitchen can be inconvenient, so some people do it in a spacious bathroom. This prevents water from spilling on the floor.

After preparing the dishwasher, we begin gathering our tools. You may not have everything on hand, so you'll need to purchase some or borrow some from a friend. Depending on your dishwasher model and the nature of the problem, you'll need:prepare the tools

  • two screwdrivers: flat and Phillips;
  • adjustable wrench;
  • tweezers;
  • soldering iron;
  • side cutters;
  • multimeter;
  • pliers (pliers)
  • a camera or a phone with a camera.

We dismantle units, assemblies and individual parts

Now we can begin disassembling the Electrolux dishwasher. We'll use a freestanding dishwasher as an example. As a reminder, it's best to take photos of each step. Believe me, when you have to reassemble the dishwasher, photos of its original state will be helpful. While it's easy to remember everything, time passes, and you no longer remember which bolt was where. So don't be lazy and take photos. Here's the procedure:

  • We unscrew a couple of bolts from the back of the machine; they hold the cover in place. Then we slide the part back and remove it.remove the cover of the Electrolux dishwasher
  • Remove the decorative bottom panel, which is held in place by clips. These can be released with a flat-head screwdriver or your fingers by tilting the dishwasher back slightly. You'll also need to open the dishwasher door slightly, as it will interfere with removing the panel.Remove the bottom panel of the Electrolux dishwasher.
  • Remove the three screws on the back of the home assistant that secure the side panels. These aren't all the fasteners. Remove one more screw on the top, and one screw each on the left and right sides under the decorative panel.remove the side wall fasteners
  • then we can easily remove the side metal walls and remove the soundproofing material;Removing the side panels of the Electrolux dishwasher
  • turn the dishwasher upside down, having first removed the baskets and rocker arms from it; you can also remove the trash filter and the fine filter; don’t forget to blot up any water with a rag, if there is any;turn the dishwasher upside down
  • Now we unscrew and remove the bottom cover, which covers the pan and all the components of the unit;remove the cover of the Electrolux dishwasher tray
  • Next, remove the plastic tray element, which is held in place by screws located at various points around the perimeter of the tray. All dishwasher components are located underneath this element, so you'll have to work hard to get it all out.removing the plastic elements of the dishwasher tray
  • Now unclip the clips holding the engine in place and the filler valve clips. If you don't do this, you won't be able to lift the plastic part of the oil pan.

Important! Some Electrolux PPM models have an additional hidden latch in the center of the tray, which prevents it from being completely removed. Therefore, inspect the part carefully and use a flat-head screwdriver to release the latch.

  • Next, we remove the drain hose, it is also held in place by a plastic latch;remove the dishwasher drain hose
  • disconnect the power terminals;disconnect the power terminals
  • and finally, carefully remove the tray to the side.We dismantle the Electrolux dishwasher tray.

At this point, you can consider your dishwasher disassembly complete! Now you can disassemble and replace any broken parts yourself, allowing access to all components. If you took photos of the entire process, then by reversing the steps, you can reassemble the dishwasher without any problems. Good luck!

    What if you didn't take a photo?
    I have a compact Electrolux dishwasher. I took it apart and cleaned it. I'm putting it back together—the terminals and wires are incompatible.

    It doesn't drain, water remains in the dishwasher.
