Dimensions of a washing machine under the sink
When installing a washing machine under a sink, it's important to consider the machine's dimensions, especially if the sink is already there and won't be replaced. You need to look for a washing machine that will fit under the sink without protruding or bumping into the ceramic surface. There are many miniature models on the market; all you need to do is find the right size.
What are their parameters?
Most brands offer standard under-sink washing machine sizes. These vary by model and manufacturer, but typically, the difference is no more than 3-5 cm. However, when installing a built-in washing machine, every centimeter counts, so before purchasing, compare your desired dimensions with the actual ones.
The determining parameter is the height, which ranges from 67 to 70 cm. If the washing machine doesn't exceed this height, it will fit comfortably under a lily-shaped sink with a classic trap. Furthermore, there will be a few centimeters of air space left.
In addition to height, we also consider depth. Despite the overall compactness, this parameter is more complex – it's 5-13 cm longer than that of narrow machines. Typically, this range is 46-51 cm. For example, the miniature Eurosoba 1100 Sprint is 46 cm long, while the standard Indesit IWUB 4105 is 33 cm. This can cause problems with the siphon, as the washing machine won't fit and will protrude. Width is easier, as the difference in size is easily concealed by an extended countertop.
Under-sink washing machines have a height of 67-70 cm and a depth of 46-51 cm.
Compact washing machines differ in more than just size. It's important to understand that their reduced width and length mask limited functionality and capacity. On average, compact models wash 3-4 kg of laundry per cycle, while slim models hold 5-8 kg, and full-size models up to 9-10 kg. They also tend to have a weaker spin cycle and a more limited selection of modes and options. However, the cost of these "small" models is significantly higher than that of standard machines.

If limited functionality and high cost don't scare you off, then you can start choosing the most suitable machine. First of all, we focus on the dimensions, secondly on the reliability of the manufacturer, and then on the washing and spinning parameters. A review of compact washing machines that have proven themselves to be highly popular with consumers will help you make your choice. Leading brands include Electrolux, Euronova, Eurosoba, and Candy.
- The Euronova Singlenova 1000 is a front-loading washing machine designed specifically for under-sink installation. At 67 cm tall and 46 cm deep, it fits perfectly under a standard sink. Its understated white design complements the vanity, while electronic controls and a digital display make it easy to use. It can wash up to 3 kg of laundry per cycle and spin at up to 1000 rpm. It features leak protection, imbalance control, and a basic set of programs (quick, pre-wash, delicates, wool, and economy).
- The Electrolux EW 1170 C is another compact floor-standing front-loading washing machine. It offers a 3 kg capacity, manual controls, and a white exterior. Its dimensions are perfect for under-mounting under a standard sink: 50 cm wide, 52 cm deep, and 67 cm high. It features a spin speed of up to 1100 rpm, a panel lock to prevent accidental operation, a metal-plastic tub, imbalance and foam control, and 10 programs with a bio-enzyme phase. However, it does have some significant drawbacks: energy consumption is class C and there's no even partial leak protection.

- Eurosoba 1100 Sprint Plus. A freestanding front-loading washer with a maximum load of up to 4 kg and compact dimensions of 46 x 46 x 68 cm. This model boasts many advantages, the most important of which is the ability to add laundry during the wash cycle through the main door. Other advantages include a liquid detergent compartment, low noise levels, and a high energy efficiency rating. A high-quality spin speed of up to 1100 rpm is also a plus. While leak protection is limited, it does include a child lock, automatic imbalance control, and foam control. There are 14 washing programs, and in addition to the basic ones, there are additional ones: anti-crease, bio-enzyme phase, down, black, mixed, and jeans. This extensive functionality significantly impacts the cost of the machine, which typically ranges from $400 to $700. The Eurosoba lineup is available in both black and white.
The average cost of a miniature washing machine ranges from $200 to $630.
- Candy Aqua 114D2. Candy also offers a compact model – a front-loading machine with a capacity of up to 4 kg, a display, and electronic controls. Its dimensions are standard for compact washing machines: 51 x 44 x 69 cm, allowing it to be installed either under a sink or in a standard cabinet. It offers 16 washing modes and a spin speed of up to 1100 rpm. You can also freely adjust cycle settings, including varying the drum rotation intensity and water temperature. As for safety, it features a partially leak-proof housing and automatic system response to imbalances and excessive foaming. There's no additional load option, but there is a 24-hour delayed start. An additional feature – anti-allergy – will please the owner.
- Zanussi FL 574. One of the narrowest small washing machines, as its depth is only 32 cm. The remaining dimensions are also close to the minimum: 50 cm wide and 67 cm long. This allows the unit to be easily integrated under any sink with a siphon, allowing the user to significantly save space in the bathroom. The Zanussi is mechanically controlled and washes up to 3 kg of dry laundry per cycle. This model doesn't offer any particular advantages – it's a middling option with 12 wash programs, a plastic tub, modest features, and automatic imbalance control. It doesn't have leak protection, and the maximum spin speed is limited to 500 rpm. The washing machine also falls short in efficiency and energy consumption classes: it washes at a "D" level, but consumes at an "E" level.
The Euronova 600 EU 352 is considered a good option for under-sink installation. Its advantages include simplicity, affordability, and reliability—it lacks bells and whistles or additional options that increase manufacturing and repair costs. This model features front loading, mechanical controls, a discreet design, and classic dimensions. The washing machine measures 46 cm wide, 45 cm deep, and 67 cm long, allowing it to fit under virtually any sink: from standard vanities to modern water lily pads and bowls. Its performance specifications are as follows:
- energy consumption and washing efficiency class "B";
- maximum spin – up to 600 rpm (cancellable);
- leak protection – present, partial;
- Drum imbalance control – automatic;
- stainless steel tank.
Compact washing machines are less in demand and are not widely available in stores.
By installing a washing machine under the sink, you can save space and make the interior more modern and convenient. The main thing is to consider the machine's dimensions, avoid skimping, and remember to use it properly.
