Disassembling a Miele washing machine

Disassembling a Miele washing machineIf the washing machine breaks down, you'll have to partially or completely disassemble it to access the faulty components. This can be a challenging task for beginners, as it's not always clear how to access the machine. This is especially true when repairing Miele appliances, which have some unique design features. To disassemble a Miele washing machine, you need to have the tools ready and follow the instructions. Let's take a look at the procedure.

What tool do you need?

There is no need to start disassembling the washing machine right away. First, you should prepare for the upcoming manipulations: disconnect the equipment from communications, detach the inlet and drain hoses from the body. Next, move the machine closer to the center of the room to ensure easy access to all walls. Be sure to place a few old rags next to the Miele to protect it from possible dirt and water. The second step is gathering your tools:

  • screwdrivers (slotted and Phillips);
  • set of wrenches;
  • pliers;
  • screwdriver;disassembly tools
  • set of heads;
  • hammer (mallet);
  • a puller, a punch or a chisel if you plan to remove bearings.

Before disassembling the Miele washing machine, it is necessary to disconnect it from utilities – electricity, water and sewerage.

Only after preparing your work area, machine, and tools can you begin disassembling. This is a long and labor-intensive process, so be patient and have time. Ideally, you should carefully study the manufacturer's instructions and the Miele wiring diagram before beginning.

Open the front wall

The aforementioned design feature of Miele's front-loading washers concerns the front panel. The end of these washers opens like a door, providing access to the components and mechanisms inside. Even the tub and drum can be removed and repaired through the front panel, greatly simplifying the disassembly process. Now all that's left to do is figure out the proper procedure.

While disassembly on many other brands, such as Samsung, Indesit, and Bosch, begins the classic process of removing the rear panel, Miele's approach is different. Everything is connected to the end, which completely changes the order of operations. The disassembly instructions are as follows:

  • remove the powder receptacle (pull it towards you while pressing the red button located in the back);Miele powder container without lid
  • we unscrew the bolts that were “hidden” behind the tray;
  • Using a flat-head screwdriver, pry up the service hatch door and open it (on Miele it is located at the bottom left);
  • we find the emergency drain hose behind the door and unhook it from the body;
  • on the right side behind the technical door we feel for the ring and activate it (the machine hatch should open);
  • Using a 10 mm head, remove three fasteners located on the body along the perimeter of the hatch;
  • We put the bolts removed from the hatch in a safe place so as not to lose them (these screws are made of special materials, due to which they do not deteriorate in an aggressive environment);
  • We pull the end on the left side towards ourselves – the front wall should open freely.open front wall of Miele

That's it! Removing the front panel this way will give you easy access to all components of your Miele washing machine. If you need to test the wiring and electronics, pay attention to the right side of the machine. To remove the heating element or motor, simply look under the drum, while the pump, debris filter, and drain system are located in the lower left corner. The door lock is located in the standard location—on the left side near the drum.

Miele washing machines are disassembled in a non-standard sequence: first, the front wall of the housing is removed, and then the remaining structural elements.

It's possible that your specific Miele model requires a different disassembly method. In any case, it's important to read the manufacturer's instructions before proceeding. If you have any doubts or if parts are heavily stuck, self-disassembly is not recommended – it is better to seek professional help from a service center.

Disassembling a Miele front-loading washer is even easier than with other brands. Simply unfasten the front panel and open it like a door, giving you easy access to all components and mechanisms.
