How to disassemble a Malutka washing machine

disassembling the Malutka washing machineDisassembling a Malutka washing machine without breaking anything isn't easy, despite its relatively simple design. You'll need to make a special key to remove certain components, and then read the disassembly instructions for this type of machine. This article provides detailed instructions on disassembling a Malutka washing machine, as well as the procedure for making the special key.

Specific tool

If you're a thrifty homeowner and want to disassemble your Malutka washing machine for parts or for repairs, you'll inevitably run into problems right at the start. Why is this? The fact is, our "valiant" Soviet engineers, who designed this wonderful washing machine, were people with a sense of humor. Their sense of humor was so simple that they screwed the actuator onto the Malutka in such a way that no standard key could remove it.

The Malutka washing machine used to be very common, and it was repaired quite often. Owners broke countless screwdrivers trying to unscrew the actuator, bent countless keys, and some even tried to smash the actuator off with a chisel and hammer out of frustration. If you're thinking of throwing your washing machine in the trash, you can follow their example. We offer a special key for you to make. It's easy to make at home; you'll need:

special key

  • a tube with a diameter of 1.5-2 cm or a square steel profile of the same section, the length of the tube will be about 20 cm;
  • pliers;
  • screwdriver;
  • drill with a 6 mm metal drill bit;
  • two bolts 6x50 mm, with 2 nuts.

If you rummage through your pantry, you're sure to find all the parts and tools you need. It's a good idea to make the key somewhere other than at home, like a garage or shed, where you have a decent workbench, a vice, and maybe even a drill press. A drill is a drill, but it won’t be easy to drill an exact hole in the right place, especially in a tube. We will make a key for the Malutka washing machine so that you can disassemble it later.

  1. We measure the distance between the activator mounting holes. It should be 95 mm, so we drill two holes in the tube so that the distance between them is 95 mm.

If you are drilling holes with a drill, first clamp the tube in a vice, mark the locations where the holes will be located, punch the marks with a center punch, and then drill.

  1. We insert bolts into the holes and tighten them with nuts.
  2. We insert the ends of the bolts into the mounting holes of the activator; if they fit smoothly and without problems, then you have not made a mistake in the calculations and everything is correct – the key is ready.

Progress of work

Once the key is cut, we can disassemble the Malutka washing machine; now nothing will get in our way. Open the lid, disconnect the hoses, and generally remove any unnecessary clutter. Lay down some newspaper, place the washing machine on it, and begin disassembling.

  • Turn the washing machine so that the back is facing you. There is a plastic plug that needs to be pried off with a screwdriver.
  • Turn the plastic impeller by twisting the activator so that its hole aligns with the same hole in the casing.
  • Insert a screwdriver or pin directly into the motor rotor to secure it. The screwdriver will fit through the two aligned holes.
  • We arm ourselves with our new special key and unscrew the activator together with the housing.

We can't tell you which way to unscrew the activator, since the Malyutki were produced with multi-directional threads.

  • The tank is held in place by six screws, which must be unscrewed one by one to remove it.
  • We remove the flange.
  • We remove the sealing rubber, washer, and unscrew the fasteners holding the housing halves.
  • All that's left to do is unscrew the motor, and consider the Malutka washing machine disassembled.

Good advice

In conclusion, let us offer a few tips on disassembling your Malutka washing machine. If you plan to reassemble the machine after all the repairs, take photos of each disassembly step to avoid making mistakes when connecting wires and installing rubber seals. Having photographs makes it much easier to assemble the Little One. Read more about repair of the Malutka washing machine You can read about it in the relevant article on our website.

Be extremely careful when disassembling the washing machine. Don't be too vigorous with pliers and a screwdriver. If you pry too hard with a screwdriver, you'll damage the rubber seals or plastic parts, and if you use pliers to unscrew the nuts, you'll strip the edges and add to your workload. Happy disassembling!

    And if the spacer screw does not screw in, but is simply inserted tightly, then how do you remove it?
