Disassembling a Zanussi top-loading washing machine
If your Zanussi top-loading washing machine starts acting up, it's best to get it diagnosed as soon as possible. Most problems can be resolved yourself. We'll explain how to disassemble your top-loading washing machine and what tools you'll need.
Preparatory stage
Any procedure requires preparation. This also applies to SMA diagnostics and repair. To properly disassemble a washing machine Zanussi vertical loading, it is necessary to understand where which nodes are located.
The first step in disassembling a washing machine is to study the instructions for the equipment.
First, you should read the user manual. The instructions for your vertical washer contain a lot of useful information about the specific Zanussi model. It also includes a diagram showing the layout of the main components of the washing machine.
Next, prepare the tools you'll need for disassembly. These are:
- slotted and Phillips screwdrivers;
- set of open-end wrenches;
- socket heads of different sizes;
- nippers;
- pliers;
- WD-40 aerosol product.
You'll also need a few dry rags. It's also a good idea to have a smartphone with a camera on hand. It's a good idea to take photos of how the terminals and wires were connected to avoid making mistakes when reassembling the washing machine.
Once you've gathered your tools and materials, you can work on the machine. Be sure to unplug the washing machine from the wall outlet—the power must be off. Only then can you disconnect the machine from the power lines. Next, move the machine away from the wall to allow easy access to all sides of its body.
Removing the control panel
There's nothing complicated about disassembling a vertical lift. The key is to follow the instructions carefully. Start by removing the dashboard. The procedure is as follows:
- release the dashboard from the latches on the sides;

- pull the panel up and towards you;

- tilt the dashboard back and take a photo of the wiring diagram;
- disconnect the terminals and wires;
- unhook the instrument panel.

After dismantling the control panel, access is opened to:
- electronic module;
- water level sensor;
- network filter;
- inlet valve.

Next, you can begin disconnecting the electronic unit from the instrument cluster. To do this, unscrew the bolts holding the module in place. The board will then be easily removed.
Dismantling the filling system elements
The next step in disassembly is to disconnect the inlet valve, water distributor, and filler pipes. Before doing this, you need to remove the left side panel of the Zanussi vertical washer. This is easy to do – simply unscrew the screws securing the panel and remove the top and front fasteners.
Dismantling of the filling system elements is carried out in the following order:
- unscrew the inlet hose from the washing machine body;
- remove the clamps from the filler pipes leading to the water distributor;

- remove these pipes;
- Disconnect the wires connected to the intake valve;

- Press the latches with a flat-head screwdriver and turn the fill valve;
- remove the inlet valve from the washing machine body;

- dismantle the pipes coming from the water distributor, removing the clamps;

- remove the water distributor.

This is where you can stop if, for example, the washing machine refuses to fill with water. If the problem lies elsewhere, you'll need to disassemble the machine further. Next in line are the front panel and the top cover.
Removing the remaining external body elements
For a more in-depth diagnosis, it may be necessary to completely disassemble the Zanussi top-loading washing machine. Both the top and front panels are removed. This is done in the following order:
- unscrew 2 bolts from the bottom and top sides;

- detach the front panel;

- Having dealt with the fasteners, remove the right side wall of the case;
- lower the transport wheel;

- open the top cover of the machine;
- unscrew the two bolts securing the handle;

- detach the handle from the lid;

- unscrew the pins securing the top panel of the case;

- remove the lid of the washing machine.
Be careful not to let the retaining pins fall into the washing machine when removing it.
Now you can begin removing the remaining internal components of the machine. These include the door seal, counterweights, heating element, bearings, and motor. The extent of disassembly of the washing machine will depend on the type of malfunction. If you need to replace the heating element, it is not at all necessary to remove the engine, pump, etc.
We dismantle the internal elements of the case
When disconnecting wiring and other components, it's best to take photos of how everything was connected. This will help avoid mistakes during reassembly. The next step is dismantling the remaining internal components:
- remove the springs holding the tank;

- Use nippers to remove the clamps securing the hatch cuff;

- remove the sealing rubber;

- remove the foam damper located on the right side of the housing;
- remove the bolts holding the right counterweight, remove the weight;

- remove the left foam damper;
- unhook the circulation pump pipe;
- remove the left weight;

- find the shock absorbing elements;

- deal with the shock absorber mounts, remove the elements from the washing machine housing;

- remove the drum screw (if it is necessary to remove the left bearing);

- remove the pulley and the drum screw on the right (if you need to access the right bearing);

- Unscrew the 2 screws securing the DSP and remove the drum self-positioning device;

- remove the wiring from the heating element, loosen the nut, press the screw inward and remove the heating element;

- Disconnect the ground and other wires from the motor;

- Unscrew the two fixing bolts and remove the engine from the machine;

- Unlatch the drain hose and remove it from the washing machine;

- remove the remaining springs on the tank, on the right and left sides;
- lay the machine on its side;
- remove the washing machine tray;

- disconnect the wires from the pump and, having dealt with the latch, remove the drain pump;

- return the machine to the upright position;
- remove the tank from the washing machine housing (if required).

This is how you can completely disassemble a Zanussi top-loading washing machine. The parts are put back in reverse order. It's best to refer to the photos to avoid mistakes.
