45cm dishwasher rating

dishwasher ratingsIt's hard to imagine modern homes without appliances that make our lives easier and save us significant time. A dishwasher is a perfect example of such a device. Some might ask, "Why do we need a built-in or non-built-in dishwasher if we don't pile up dishes and wash them by hand?" Why clutter the kitchen? The answer is simple: a dishwasher helps care for not only dishes but also children's toys, home accessories, and more. This article will discuss the ratings of 45 cm dishwashers and how to choose the right one.

Key characteristics to consider when choosing a dishwasher

Going to the store and buying the first dishwasher you see is almost certainly a waste of money. Like any appliance, a dishwasher shouldn't just blend in with your kitchen decor; it should suit you and fully meet your needs for cleaning your dishes and other household items. While this is ideal, a goal to strive for when choosing a dishwasher, you certainly shouldn't buy one mindlessly, simply because you have to have one.

Before you begin choosing dishwashers and creating your own ranking of kitchen helpers, you need to determine the key parameters for such a choice and set your own priorities. Experts advise relying on the following characteristics of dishwashers.

  • dimensions and connection features;
  • possibility of embedding;
  • configuration and arrangement of dish trays;
  • quality of dishwashing;
  • set of programs;
  • drying features;
  • water consumption and energy consumption.

dishwasher ratingsThe dishwasher's size is a crucial consideration if your kitchen is at a premium. When space is at a premium, the smaller the dishwasher, the better. However, it's important to understand that a small dishwasher also has a limited capacity. Washing a large load of dishes will require multiple loads, which takes additional time.

Consumers value built-in dishwashers more than built-in ones. Indeed, 99% of modern kitchen designs feature concealed appliances, so they don't detract from the overall look of the space. So, why would such a kitchen have a non-built-in dishwasher? That's right, there's no need for one! This means that when choosing a dishwasher, we only look at those models that can be built into the kitchen unit.

Regarding connection details, this parameter is directly related to another parameter: energy consumption. If you connect your dishwasher to a hot water supply, the heating element will be used less, which means lower energy consumption. On the other hand, this will increase hot water consumption, and based on current tariffs, it's more cost-effective to pay for additional kilowatts than for additional cubic meters of hot water.

Please note! Experts say it's best to connect your dishwasher to cold water, as this will prolong the life of the machine's parts and improve dishwashing results.

When choosing a 45 cm dishwasher, don't be shy about looking at its dish baskets; after all, you'll be using them, so all the elements should be as convenient as possible. Modern 45 cm dishwashers have gone beyond the standard two baskets. They now feature trays for knives and forks, and racks for crystal and glass goblets. The baskets also feature compartments for small and very small items (perfect for children's toys), and so on. In short, choose dishwashers with the most functional capacity.

Pay special attention to the quality of dishwashing. Unfortunately, you rarely have the opportunity to test a specific 45 cm dishwasher model before purchasing it, so to avoid any unpleasant surprises later, check the specifications in the product manual.

  1. A – cleans at the highest level;
  2. B – washes perfectly;
  3. C – washes well;
  4. D – washes above average;
  5. E - washes satisfactorily.

As you might have guessed, these Latin letters indicate the dishwashing performance, as determined by tests conducted by specialists. Based on the test results, a specific model is assigned a letter designation, which indicates how well a 45 cm dishwasher cleans dishes.

Important! When choosing a modern dishwasher, make sure it has a cleaning performance rating of A, B, or C. If it's D or even E, don't buy it.

dishwasher ratingsAnother very important selection parameter is the program selection. The quality of a particular 40 or 45 cm dishwasher's performance depends on the programs available. Experts agree that any modern 40 or 45 cm dishwasher should have the following programs:

  • Main wash. The program may have different names, but the essence is that dishes are washed in hot water (approximately 600C), about 2-3 hours.
  • Super wash. The idea is to wash in very hot water for about 1.5 hours.
  • Soak. This mode is used for dishes that have been left unwashed for a long time.
  • Quick. This mode is suitable for lightly soiled kitchenware and takes approximately 40 minutes.

This is an essential kit, without which a 40 or 45 cm dishwasher won't be able to clean dishes properly, but that doesn't mean it will only have four functions. A specific model may have 10-15 functions, but you're unlikely to use them all.

Dishwashers with a 40 or 45 cm capacity can also dry dishes. How does this work? In standard dishwashers, dishes are left in the rack after washing to dry naturally. In other words, the machine turns off, allowing the water to drain from the dishes, and after a while, they dry naturally. Modern 40 or 45 cm dishwashers are equipped with convection fans that heat and circulate the air inside the dishwasher, resulting in faster drying of dishes but also higher energy consumption.

Water consumption and energy efficiency are also important factors to consider. However, consider the efficiency of a 40 or 45 cm dishwasher against its preset programs. If the machine has forced drying, it will be less energy efficient. Similarly, the more dishes the dishwasher can hold, the more water it will consume.

Please note! Some modern 40 or 45 cm dishwasher models are equipped with innovative spray arms that save up to 30% water while maintaining cleaning results.

Top 5 most functional and high-quality dishwashers

Based on the above parameters, we selected the five best dishwashers, thus compiling our rating. After reviewing our rating, you might find it easier to make a choice, and perhaps even create your own rating of built-in dishwashers. We present our rating to you.

BOSCH SPS 40E12 RU. This is a superb, built-in, narrow (45 cm), budget-friendly Bosch dishwasher, assembled in Europe. With an average price of $320, it can hold as many as 9 sets of various dishes.

Please note! A dinnerware set consists of four plates, a cup, a saucer, two spoons, and two forks.

The washing programs are limited, but everything you need is included. There's a pre-rinse, which is a complete analogue of the soak mode we mentioned above. There's also an economy wash program, an automatic wash program, and a quick wash program. You can set the water temperature from 30°C to 70°C.0C. If necessary, you can delay the start of the program, change the height of the dish baskets and set the button lock to prevent children from getting to them.

This car tops our list because it:

  1. cheap;
  2. roomy;
  3. narrow;
  4. can recognize detergents;
  5. economical;
  6. has protection against leaks and children.

BOSCH SPS 40E12 RUBesides the above, the dishwasher has another advantage: it's quiet. While some modern dishwasher models are quieter than the BOSCH SPS 40E12 RU, they also cost twice as much.

The CANDY CDP 4609 is a slim, built-in, very affordable dishwasher assembled in China. Its specifications are similar to the model reviewed above. The only differences are the number of programs (the Candy has five), the lack of a child safety lock, and the lack of a detergent recognition system. This machine ranks second in our ranking because it:

  • record-breakingly cheap (only 217 USD);
  • washes dishes perfectly;
  • narrow;
  • roomy;
  • economical.

It might have rivaled the BOSCH dishwasher for first place, but its Chinese assembly let it down. Consumers have had complaints about both the build quality and the spare parts, though these are relatively rare. But for the price, it's quite good—a very respectable model.

SIEMENS SR24E205RU. A slim, budget-friendly built-in dishwasher. Its specifications are identical to the BOSCH SPS 40E12 RU; surprisingly, it's also assembled in Europe. What's even more surprising is that the price is almost identical, averaging $321. So, how do they differ and why did the SIEMENS SR24E205RU only make it to third place in our ranking?

The issue is the quality of the dishwasher and the number of service calls from owners of this model. In this regard, Siemens was 3% behind even CANDY dishwashers in 2015. Therefore, it only ranked third, although the gap from the leader in this case is negligible.

SIEMENS SR24E205RU

LERAN FDW 45-096 WHITE. The fourth place in our rating is occupied by a dishwasher from a Chinese company. LERAN. This is a narrow (45 cm) dishwasher with programmable control and a 9-place setting capacity. This budget-friendly model averages $243.

Please note! The Leran brand is relatively new to global markets, yet it has exploded and established a strong presence, offering affordable and high-quality products.

This economical model features six wash programs: intensive, quick, economical, and others. You'll definitely enjoy each of these programs. It features a delayed start, child safety lock, and complete leak protection. The height-adjustable basket allows for a partial load setting, further saving water. This model was ranked fourth because the brand hasn't yet established itself, and both experts and consumers are unsure of the quality of Leran appliances, although this dishwasher certainly deserves the highest rating.

LERAN FDW 45-096

ELECTROLUX ESF 2300OS. Finally, we placed the Electrolux dishwasher in fifth place. While not a slim model, it has other attractive technical features – it's compact, measuring 54 x 44 x 51 cm and weighing just 21 kg. It's very quiet, with a noise level of just 48 dB, and economical, using just 7 liters of water.

Additionally, it features 6 washing programs, electronic controls, a display, a child safety lock, and a water purity sensor. The dish drawer is made of high-quality stainless steel. The dishwasher is assembled in Italy, and the average price is approximately $333. The dishwasher only holds 6 place settings, but it's important to understand that this is a compact model that can fit perfectly into a small kitchen.

Which ones are better, according to consumers?

In this section, we've provided several consumer reviews to help you fully understand which dishwashers are currently the best and which model to choose to avoid overpaying for unnecessary features while ensuring you get a fully functional appliance that meets all your requirements. Here are the reviews.

Lyudmila Alexandrovna, Saratov

Model: CANDY CDP 4609.

Advantages: washes away all dirt from dishes, even dried ones.

Disadvantages: the drain filter often gets clogged with food residue and needs to be cleaned after each load of dishes.

I bought this dishwasher two years ago through the Eldorado recycling program. I'm very happy with it; I thought it would be much worse. I've hated washing dishes since I was a child, so I decided to give myself a gift. I see two drawbacks to using a Candy dishwasher that irritate me. First, you need to clean the filter after each dishwashing, and second, you need to use expensive tablet detergents, otherwise the washing quality will be poor.

dishwasher ratingsGalina, Moscow

Model: BOSCH SPS 40E12 RU

Advantages: washes greasy dishes well.

Disadvantages: The dish racks broke, and now some dishes tend to slip to the bottom of the dishwasher cabinet. I don't know where to buy new ones.

I've been using a Bosch dishwasher for six months. It took me a month to get used to it, and now I can't imagine my kitchen life without it. I love cooking and entertaining, so noisy dinner parties are an integral part of our family life. Guests leave a mountain of unwashed dishes, so the dishwasher is our lifesaver! I have no real complaints about the machine. It's my own fault for letting my child play in the kitchen and he broke the tray grate. Now I'm wondering how to fix or replace the tray. I give the Bosch dishwasher five stars.

Yulia Sergeevna, Krasnodar

Model: BOSCH SPS 40E12 RU

Advantages: saves detergents, washes dishes quickly and well.

Disadvantages: a bit noisy.

I've been using dishwashers for many years. My very first one was a Zanussi, which lasted for seven years. Now I've bought a Bosch, and there's no doubt about it—it's a very good machine. Compared to my old machine, this one uses about a third as much water per wash. I don't know what it's all about, but it's a pleasant surprise. It's noisier than the Zanussi, but it doesn't bother me. It's a really cool model, and I recommend it to everyone.

In conclusion, if you take a closer look at the specifications of modern dishwashers, you'll quickly realize they're largely similar. In the highly competitive appliance market, there are simply no underdogs left. Models assembled in Europe are considered the best, although Chinese-made models are nipping at their heels, and the differences between them are insignificant. In short, draw your own conclusions and make the right decision.

    I'm looking for a dishwasher, and my friends are recommending a Hotpoint-Ariston. They have exactly the same ones, though I can't remember the exact model. Has anyone used one? What do you think? Thanks in advance!

    I've had an Indesit for a while now. I haven't had any experience with other brands. My machine is fine with me.
