Dishwasher Tablet Ratings

dishwasher tablet ratingsTablets are rightfully considered the most expensive type of dishwasher detergent. Over the past five years, a plethora of tablet-based products have appeared on the market, with advertisers praising their products, vying to show that theirs is the best. But what's the reality? Which tablets are better and which are worse? After all, you can't try the entire range—no amount of money will cut it—so you have to take a different approach. We suggest consulting with experts and compiling a tablet rating based on their invaluable experience.

Selection criteria

Before choosing dishwasher tablets, experts recommend thinking carefully and assessing the tasks you're setting for them. Don't assume that if you buy tablets for, say, $1 a pack, they'll perfectly remove all types of dirt, or even refresh and clean your machine. Clearly, this won't happen, but that doesn't mean all cheap tablets are bad; you just shouldn't expect too much from them. Let's take a closer look.

To understand What are the best dishwasher tablets?e, it's important to understand the different types of pills, and what types there are. You also need to determine the criteria for choosing pills. Let's start with the types. Dishwasher tablets differ from each other in their composition, or more precisely, in the amount of substances contained in one pressed briquette.Tablets are classified according to the number of components:

  • with three components (3 in 1);
  • with four components;
  • with five components;
  • with six;
  • with seven;
  • with ten;
  • multi-component (all in one).

For some reason, it's commonly believed that the more ingredients dishwasher tablets contain, the better they are. Advertisers actively exploit this, but in reality, the issue is more complex.

Important! Manufacturers resort to various tricks to sell dishwasher users expensive "all-in-one" products. These products clean dishes no better than tablets that cost half as much.

dishwasher tablet ratingsTake, for example, five-in-one tablets, which contain dishwashing detergent, dishwashing protectant, dishwasher protectant, rinse aid, and salt. The list is complete; there's no need to buy tablets with more ingredients. Why pay almost double for 10-in-1 tablets when these have everything you need?

We conclude that the selection criterion should not be the number of components in the tablet, but their properties. Don't buy expensive ten-component tablets that don't do anything special for your dishwasher or your dishes; don't line the manufacturer's pockets.

Another selection criterion is the tablet's eco-friendliness. Harsh chemicals used by tablet manufacturers make their products cheaper and more effective, as they dissolve dirt much faster. However, the problem is that these chemicals don't rinse completely from dishes and ultimately enter our bodies, causing harm. Parabens, phenols, phthalates, and phosphates cause irreparable harm to our health, as advertisers claim to sell eco-friendly tablets, but what's the reality?

Experts are more cautious about the harm caused by the chemicals in detergent tablets. They believe the air and water we consume every day contain far more harmful substances. While detergent chemicals are a "drop in the bucket" for an adult, they are unnecessary for a growing child. Children's dishes and toys should be washed separately, using eco-friendly tablets or even by hand.

Another criterion is price. Well-known brands will always ask more for their products than lesser-known ones, but this does not mean that they are better. Pay more attention to products from lesser-known manufacturers; some have very high-quality tablets and low prices.

Another selection criterion may be the presence or absence of self-dissolving packaging. When we have to unwrap a tablet, there's a risk of its components coming into contact with the skin, which can cause an allergic reaction or irritation. If the tablet packaging dissolves, it can be used without unwrapping, which is much simpler, faster, and safer.

Please note! It's important to remember that self-dissolving packaging represents an additional cost for the manufacturer, meaning they will certainly factor this into the price of the tablets.

To summarize our findings, the best dishwasher tablets, with a certain degree of conventionality, should be selected based on the following criteria:

  1. quantity and composition of components;
  2. environmental friendliness;
  3. price;
  4. the presence of dissolving packaging.

Filtero 7 in 1 MegaPackWe've tested the properties of Filtero 7-in-1 tablets and fully confirm the manufacturer's claims. However, there are some caveats when using these tablets. Firstly, your dishwasher needs to recognize 3-in-1 products, and secondly, you need to use these tablets along with salt, otherwise the ion exchanger will suffer. How much does this German product cost? The minimum price for a large package (90 tablets) of Filtero 7 in 1 is $9.49.

Top 5 best tablet remedies

The descriptions and characteristics of the best tablets are presented. Now it's time to present our ranking of the best tablet-based products. Let's be honest, compiling the ranking was very difficult, as all the tablets have many advantages, but we managed to do it.

  1. The first place in our rating is occupied by the French tablets FeedBack All in 1. They contain a minimum of harmful components, they take good care of dishes, and they are also quite inexpensive, costing $0.10 per tablet.
  2. We awarded second place to Russian Fairy Citron All in tablets, primarily due to their high effectiveness. Their average cost per tablet is $0.11.
  3. Third place is rightfully taken by Filtero 7-in-1 MegaPack tablets. They are generally no worse than all-in-one products, but their price is a bit high, hence their only third place. Price: $0.106 per tablet.
  4. Fourth place goes to the German Frosch All in. They're a bit pricey, but they're versatile; you don't need to buy separate tablets for baby dishes and toys, as Frosch's ingredients are environmentally friendly. The price of one Frosch tablet is $0.2133.
  5. Rounding out our ranking is the Italian product TopHOUSE 6 in 1, coming in only fifth place. These tablets are slightly lower in quality than Fairy or Frosh, but you can still use them; you won't notice any difference. The average cost of one tablet is $0.14.

As you can see, the overhyped Finish didn't even barely scratch our rankings, even though we didn't try to displace it. All the experts' conclusions are based on objective data, as you've noticed. And besides Finish, there are plenty of good products at a reasonable price—certainly not $0.27 per tablet.

Finally, tablets are currently actively replacing other dishwasher detergents because they are effective and very convenient to use. They have only one drawback: price, but manufacturers will try to mitigate this over time. Our analysis of the tablet market showed that the best tablets currently are the French FeedBack All in 1 tablets, but we admit that the situation could change very soon.

    Thank you so much for such a detailed description, and even the comparison. I was simply at a loss when choosing pills at the store. By the way, thanks to you, I'll know I need salt anyway, even though I've seen packages saying the pill can replace it. Thanks again!

    I've used many of these tablets, but I'm not happy with the quality or price, or rather the balance between the two. I've had two dishwashers: an LG and now an Indesit. I tried Fairy, but it leaves dishes slippery and streaky. It's especially noticeable on expensive, clear plates. Top House and Fash don't clean dishes at all, especially pots; you have to wash everything by hand. Both dishwashers are quite expensive, and they all cleaned equally well with these tablets. Somat left dried-on food residue and didn't clean well. I've tried a ton of tablets over the years and settled on two brands: Frau Martha (Germany) and Klenok (Italy, Turkey, Russia). Price: Frau 320 rubles for 30 tablets, Klenok 220 rubles for 28 tablets. The quality and price are decent. And this rating of yours is just a regular advertising campaign paid for by manufacturers to make money off customers for a product that's not worth it. The price in the store is inflated tenfold. Consumables should be cheap, like everywhere else, otherwise they're simply not needed? But here they're trying to squeeze the most out of everything. There are crooks everywhere, and they're always trying to come up with something to rip you off even more.

    I bought Finish powder once and was extremely dissatisfied. It's the same as baking soda, only the price is vastly different.

      There's a saying: all that glitters is not gold! The FINISH used to be great, but now it's total crap.

    The fitback is made in Italy, not France... your rating is incorrect.
