Every washing machine has a shock-absorbing system. These elements are essential for absorbing the centrifugal force generated when the drum rotates at high speed. The stands ensure the machine remains stable and reduce vibration.
If your "home helper" has started bouncing during the spin cycle, your Ardo washing machine's shock absorbers may need repair. You can fix the shock absorbers yourself without calling a technician. Let's look at how to test the washing machine's shock absorber system and how to fix the problem.
What details will you have to deal with?
Modern cars can be equipped with standard shock absorbers or dampers. These components are fundamentally different in their design. What's the difference?
A classic shock absorber has a simple design. It's a cylinder containing a piston, a gasket, a spring, and a piston rod. A damper doesn't have a spring—the springs are routed externally and attached to the tank.
Most Ardo washing machines are equipped with dampers.
Ardo automatic washing machines have two shock-absorbing elements. They are located under the drum. The shock absorbers dampen vibrations better. Furthermore, since the springs are mounted separately, they are easier to replace if they break.
We make sure that the damper is out of order
A simple test can help you check the operation of your washing machine's dampers. No special diagnostic tools are required. Simply:
remove the top panel of the Ardo washing machine case (to do this you will need to unscrew the bolts holding the cover);
press on the tank so that it drops by 3-5 cm;
stop pressing suddenly, remove your hands;
observe the "behavior" of the plastic container.
Ideally, the tank should rise sharply and then stop. This indicates that the shock absorption system is working at full capacity. If the tank continues to bounce up and down for a while, the dampers are failing and will need to be repaired or replaced.
The following signs indicate that the dampers are failing:
The washing machine makes noise when operating, and the knocking and grinding sounds become louder when the drum rotates at high speeds;
the machine vibrates very strongly and “jumps”;
The drum rotation is difficult (this happens when grease leaks from the shock absorber).
What exactly can happen to shock absorbers? Typically, one of the following malfunctions occurs:
wear of the shock absorber rubber lining (in most cases, it is enough to simply install a new liner);
damage or loosening of the bolts securing the dampers;
mechanical defects resulting from a manufacturing defect or careless operation of the washing machine (for example, during transportation of the machine).
If you discover that your Ardo washing machine's shock absorber system is not functioning properly, you should begin repairs as soon as possible. Do not operate the machine with damaged shock absorbers, as the situation may worsen. We'll explain how to access the system's shock absorbers.
We remove the old one and install the new one.
Removing the shock-absorbing elements from the washing machine body is quite simple. To get to the dampers, you need to remove the top and rear panels of the Ardo automatic washing machine. Only on some models will the front panel also need to be removed. Let's look at an example of the most complex case, which requires removing the front part of the washing machine.
The sequence of actions for dismantling the shock absorbers will be as follows:
remove the top panel of the washing machine housing;
After unscrewing the screws around the perimeter, remove the back wall of the washing machine;
remove the powder compartment from the machine;
remove the lower false panel covering the debris filter;
Remove the bolts securing the control panel. Carefully place the dashboard on the machine so as not to disconnect the wires;
remove the outer clamp of the hatch cuff, then insert the sealing rubber into the drum;
remove the screws holding the front wall of the washing machine housing;
unhook the wires from the UBL;
remove the front panel of the washing machine body;
find the shock absorbers or dampers - they are located under the tank;
unscrew the bolts that secure the shock absorbing elements;
Once you have dealt with the latch, remove the dampers.
Inspect the removed components - you won't always need to buy new shock absorbers; often, the dampers can be repaired.
Inspect each strut. A new bearing or spring may be sufficient. If not, replace the entire component. The shock absorbers of Ardo washing machines must be replaced in pairs, even if only one shock absorber is broken.
We restore a faulty damper
The operating principle of Ardo washing machine dampers is quite simple. A rod "moves" inside a plastic shell, and a gasket "compresses" the metal rod, thereby creating resistance. This dampens vibrations that occur when the drum rotates.
Over time, the rubber seal that's supposed to compress the piston rod disintegrates and loses its effectiveness. The metal rod moves freely along the cylinder without any resistance. As a result, there's no longer any damping for vibration, and the machine begins to bounce and make noise during operation.
In this situation, it's quite easy to restore the dampers. All you need to do is replace the rubber insert. You can make your own, for example, by cutting one from a leather belt or another suitable item.
To remove a worn gasket:
Use tweezers to lift the white plastic ring that secures the insert;
pull out the rubber band.
Next, you need to cut new liners of the correct size from the leather belt. It's likely that the rubber seals in the damper will crumble during removal. This isn't a problem—the spacers are made by eye.
After cutting two leather strips, place them in the shock absorbers, securing them with plastic rings. Next, insert the piston rod into the cylinder—it should move inside with considerable force. The gasket will begin to create tension. That's it—the shock absorbers are now restored. All that remains is to install the struts in the washing machine and reassemble the washing machine.
