Repairing your Indesit washing machine yourself
Indesit washing machines, like any other brand, have their own design features. These features, while giving many models advantages over competitors, also contribute to the common problems consumers encounter. In this article, we'll explore common Indesit washing machine malfunctions and explore DIY troubleshooting options.
Common breakdowns
The vast majority of Indesit automatic washing machine models cannot be considered extremely reliable. Leading service centers worldwide provided information that allowed us to compile statistics on the number of calls regarding washing machine malfunctions. Based on the data presented in the graph below, we can conclude: cars Indesit is the most frequently breaking brand. They end up in service centers more often in the first five years of operation than German and Korean equipment.
Why does this happen? What are the most common causes of malfunction? Using the same statistics, we were able to significantly narrow our search and identify a number of the most common causes of breakdowns for all Indesit washing machine models. These malfunctions occur in 78% of service center visits. What breaks down most often?
- Heating element. Heating elements break very often, and this is a common problem for all automatic washing machines. However, in Indesit machines, the heating element is made of stainless steel without any coating (like in Samsung machines, for example), so scale deposits on it are twice as intense.
- Surge protector. This is also far from the most durable component in an Indesit washing machine. Sometimes, batches of Indesit machines even come in with defective surge protectors. On average, these components burn out within the first 3-4 years of use. Fortunately, repairs are easy to do yourself.
- Bearings. The moving parts of Indesit washing machines don't break down more often than those of similar competing models; however, this failure still occurs quite frequently. Replacing the bearings isn't a problem—the problem is getting to them. Therefore, bearing repair is generally considered difficult.
- The control unit. This is truly the weakest link in all Indesit washing machines produced before 2012. Recent models, especially those released in 2014-2015, feature upgraded control units, which experts consider more reliable. Nevertheless, they still require frequent repairs.
- The motor sensor is another weak point in most Indesit washing machine models. The motors themselves are relatively reliable, but their electrical system often has problems. More specifically, the capacitors burn out most often. Capacitors cannot be repaired—they can only be replaced.

Please note! We intentionally did not include dirty filters, hoses, and other issues among the most common malfunctions. These problems are common to all washing machines, not just Indesit ones.
Fault detection algorithm
Before attempting to repair your washing machine yourself, you need to identify the cause of the problem. Self-diagnosing an Indesit washing machine requires following a clear plan. Only then can you be more or less certain of success. Follow these steps.
- If your washing machine has a display, pay attention to the error codes that appear on it. The washing machine is designed in such a way that in most cases it can diagnose the problem itself. Decipher error codes your Indesit and draw your conclusions.

- If there's no display or the machine doesn't display an error code, take a closer look and listen to the appliance. Specifically, if the bearings are faulty, your Indesit washing machine will be very noisy, especially when the drum is spinning at high speed.
- If there are no external signs of damage, you'll have to get inside. The easiest way to remove the power filter is to remove it, but the bearings are more difficult to access.
- Take a multimeter and test all contacts, wires, and sensors to check for power. Visually inspect all internal components; any malfunction will definitely reveal itself.
Important! Before disassembling your Indesit washing machine, study its structure and the fastener layout. To be sure, photograph or video each step of the disassembly process to ensure you don't forget anything.
Failure of the network filter, motor sensor or heating element
Problems with surge protector contacts arise due to high humidity. Unfortunately, the manufacturer still hasn't solved the problem of protecting them, so surge protectors often fail not due to a power surge, but due to simple condensation. Finding the surge protector on an Indesit washing machine is easy. It's located at the end of the power cord opposite the outlet. It can be removed by removing the top cover of the washing machine and unscrewing the screw holding the device in place.
A surge protector can't be repaired; it has to be replaced. And that's no problem—you can just buy a new one, install it, and get the machine running. But here's the problem: no one can guarantee that this new surge protector will last. Let's take a real-life example. A desperate Indesit washing machine owner contacted our service center and explained that he'd replaced the surge protector three times himself, but after four or five months, it would burn out, requiring him to replace it again.
Checking the electrical system, power cord, and contacts yielded no results—everything was normal. The technician, suspecting high humidity, installed a new power filter and sealed its contacts with silicone sealant, doing the same with all the other suspect contacts. As a result, the machine has been working flawlessly for a year and a half now—the problem solved.
Please note! Before applying the sealant, dry the contacts, clean them, and wipe them with a dry cloth before applying the waterproofing layer.
A serious problem can be identified if the capacitor on the washing machine's motor burns out. This issue is best addressed by a professional technician, as only they can properly diagnose and fix such a problem. This issue can easily be mistaken for a faulty electric motor.
Unlike a problem with the engine sensor, a faulty heating element can be easily detected and fixed by yourself.
- In the vast majority of cases, the machine itself warns about a faulty heating element by displaying an error code. F07.
- If this does not happen, you can tell that the heating element is not heating based on indirect signs: the powder does not dissolve, the laundry does not wash well, the washing machine door is very cold.
- Having identified the problem, take a screwdriver and remove the back panel of the washing machine. At the bottom of the Indesit's drum, you'll find two contacts protruding from the wall—these are the heating element. Check the voltage with a multimeter. Unscrew the fastener in the middle, remove the rubber seal, and pull out the heating element.
- If the heating element is covered in a thick layer of scale and has dark, burnt spots, it should be discarded—it's faulty. You'll need to buy and install a new one. Installation and reassembly are performed in reverse order.

Problems with bearings or control unit
Bearing repair is the most difficult part. The main challenge isn't even disassembling the washing machine, but rather the drum itself, as the manufacturer ensured that this unit was a single piece and not subject to repair. But, as the saying goes, "necessity is the mother of invention," and some experts solved this problem by simply sawing the drum in half along the weld. This unique and very practical solution allows access to faulty components inside the drum while saving a significant amount of money.
You can replace the bearings in your Indesit washing machine using the information provided on our website. It's worth noting that doing this yourself without the right tools and proper training is quite difficult. But with a little effort, you can do it.
In 90% of cases, repairing the control unit of an Indesit washing machine comes down to replacing the contacts. The control unit in this brand's washing machines isn't adequately protected from moisture, which leads to condensation on the contacts. The contacts naturally short out, causing the control unit to fail. While repairing the unit is theoretically straightforward, in practice, it requires a lot of multimeter work, testing all the contacts one by one, and repeatedly, before the fault is detected.
Defective contacts should be replaced immediately. Cleaning is not an option in this case. After replacement, it's best to seal the contacts with a sealant.
In conclusion, it's worth noting that repairing an Indesit washing machine yourself is possible in most cases, but not all. Therefore, to avoid even more serious breakdowns, consult a professional, especially if you lack basic appliance repair skills and are unsure of your abilities. Ultimately, everyone should do their own thing!

The water is poured in, the motor turns on, after a short pause the pump turns on and works like a washing machine motor
After washing, the machine does not switch to rinse mode and the pump does not turn off.
There is no drain.
My Indesit WisL62 simply won't turn on, and the indicator light isn't on. How can I fix this, or should I call someone? Thank you.
Tachometer sensor on the engine.
It starts washing in cold water, then after a while it heats up, what’s the matter?
Water is poured in and drained immediately; before this, there was no water at all and the drum was spinning dry.
water is poured in and drained immediately
Try raising the drain hose more than 70 cm above the floor.
When the water fills and drains immediately, the hose on the back wall was not secured at the highest point (there are clamps), i.e. it was lower than 70 cm from the floor. I secured it and everything worked as it should!
Water fills, the drum spins, the water drains on its own, and the machine doesn't switch to other modes. What should I do?
The machine fills with water, resets, and starts washing dry clothes, but the wash cycle doesn't turn off. I have to stop it and turn on the reset cycle. The rest of the cycle (rinse, spin, and then turn off) continues sequentially.
Hello. We bought an Indesit washing machine on March 19, 2016, and installed it on March 25, 2016. We turned on a wash cycle, it started draining, and the light went out. We took it to the Expert store where we bought it. They said they wouldn't replace it, but would take it for inspection. Yesterday they called and said the breakdown was supposedly my fault, that the machine's module was leaking, costing 7,000 rubles, and the labor would cost 1,000 rubles. They wouldn't honor the warranty.
I changed the lock, but the washing machine won't start.
The machine works, washes one load, drains, and that's it. It doesn't rinse or spin, there's no noise, and there are sparks near the motor when it spins left and right. Everything is fine. What should I do?
Change the brushes... On the engine...
After switching on, after 10 minutes the operation stops and the relay clicks can be heard.
The machine washes and then turns off, meaning it doesn't rinse or spin. What's wrong?
The machine washes and then turns off, meaning it doesn't rinse or spin. What should I do?
The machine does only one operation: washing and that’s it!
It turned on for 5 minutes and stopped.
After turning it on, it fills with water, spins the drum a couple of revolutions, and stops. A relay click is heard.
It collects water, makes 2 turns and that’s it.
Good afternoon.
The same thing is happening to me, does anyone know a solution?
Please tell me!
Same problem. Did you fix it?
Has anyone solved this problem? It turns on, fills with water, spins the drum three times, then stops. Then, after a while, the same thing happens again. And it goes on and on. Until a motor error pops up. I've checked everything except the control unit, and everything works. The problem must be in the control unit...
And my car is so damn tired of me(((
I'm getting fed up with hand washing. I set it to wash, and after about 15 minutes it stops and displays F-10. It only rinses and spins every other time!
When we were buying it, they tried to talk us out of buying Russian equipment.
Indesit is not an option.
The drain doesn't work, what can I do?
You turn on the machine, and the water flows out by gravity. The water shut-off valve doesn't work. What can I do and what's the cause?
Have you found the cause? I have the same problem!
Some of the units are working fine, while others are constantly draining water. What could this be?
Did you forget to specify which valve is for the water supply or drain?
There's no drain valve. The water level sensor (under the cover on the right) may not be working. The tube connecting the tank to the sensor may be loose or have come off.
If water fills when the machine is off, then there's no other option. Replace the valve.
The machine is running, but there's water in the drum. What's the problem?
The machine washes and then turns off, i.e. it doesn't rinse or spin, and it pumps out the water before turning off. Has anyone encountered something similar?
The machine won't spin after washing and rinsing. What should I do? I don't have the funds to repair it.
Did you solve the problem? I have the same thing.
I had my WISXE10 running without water, then added water. Now it can wash for hours straight, shutting off periodically after three minutes, ten, and so on… only the 10-minute spin cycle works fine. What can I change?
My Indesit IWSB 5085 has a blinking sunroof light and won't start. What should I do?
My Indesit car has a blinking sunroof light and won't start. What should I do?
I ask for an answer for Boris
Replace the lock
It is necessary to replace the hatch blocker and the Z0607 triac on the control board.
The washing machine washes, but it doesn't rinse or spin. Help, what should I do? What's the problem?
Indesit EWSD51031 – problems at the start of the wash cycle. The drain pump turns on first, then the wash cycle begins normally. There are no errors on the display, and the drain hose is at a height of 100 cm. What could be causing this behavior?
1. Check and clean the drain filter and drain hose.
2. Check the level sensor.
All the indicators are flashing during rinsing and the water is draining – what is this?
I turn on the machine, the door lock light is on, and when I select any program, the light goes out, but the door is locked. But the wash, spin, rinse, and drain cycles don't happen! What should I do?
Same thing, I don't know what to do.
I turn on the machine, it washes, but after the first rinse, the rinse indicator and lock come on. What's this? And is it possible to set the wash cycle to 50 degrees on the right button "5"?
The machine fills with water but doesn't start. It then runs during the rinse cycle until the final cycle.
All the lights on my washing machine are flashing and it's not responding to anything! What should I do?
I have the same problem!!! If you fixed it, please tell me why.
What is the reason?
All the buttons and the lock on my Indesit washing machine are flashing. What's wrong?
I plug it in, and the lights go out. What's wrong?
It's making a lot of noise when spinning. Are the bearings broken? Where can I buy them?
All the lights started flashing and smoke started coming out of the drum. Can you tell me what this is?
The Indesit washing machine makes a loud noise when drying, it feels like something inside has flown off.
Same thing. I don't understand, and the tank is non-detachable. I can't see it.
The car door won't close, what should I do?
It starts washing, then stops, the red light flashes, the machine doesn't respond to anything. I unplug it, then plug it back in, but it doesn't work in this mode anymore. I set the rinse cycle separately, and I set the spin cycle separately. Programs 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9 have all been lost. What the hell? Who's to say—is this a repair or a dump?
The machine starts up, fills with water, after the water is filled, clicking sounds are heard and nothing else happens.
Check the electric motor brushes.
Fabric softener isn't pouring out of the dispenser. There's water in the dispenser.
The timer and lock light are flashing frequently, what should I do?
The machine was washing well, but now it's stopped working. It's filling with water, but it seems like it doesn't have the strength to spin the drum. What should I do?
The machine fills with water, but the drum isn't spinning. The belt is in place, and the brushes are fine. I suspect there's not enough water in the system when draining. I checked the filter underneath. The top is clean, and where you put the detergent is dry, but no water is coming out. Has anyone else had this problem with their Indesit WISL 104?
The water supply hose to the washing powder is clogged. Due to an overdose of detergent.
The machine washes, the programs are working, but during the spin cycle water starts leaking through the door. What should I do?
It was washing just fine. But now it's filling with water, the drum is barely turning, and it's making a loud humming noise. What should I do? Can anyone help?
It collects water and that's it, dies and doesn't move.
After 19 years of flawless service, my Indesit WGS636TX washing machine stopped responding to the temperature setting. The water starts boiling regardless of the dial position. The thermostat is most likely to blame. Does anyone know if spare parts are available for these machines, and whether repairing it is even worth it?
Indesit WI101 — the wash mode switch doesn't work, it runs in circles. What should I do?
Has anyone answered anything, same problem?
When I turn on the water supply, the machine immediately starts filling with water until I turn it off. Is there something wrong with the inlet valve?
How did you solve the problem?
The machine washed, switched to rinsing and rinsed without stopping for 3 hours, did not switch to drain.
After rinsing, the machine beeps and then returns to washing, with the wash indicator flashing and beeping. What could this be?
My Indesit (vertical) washer gets to the rinse cycle and then stops spinning, so I have to stop and drain the water manually.
After washing with the machine turned off, water started filling up in the drum. Even after draining it, it still fills up. What should I do? I don't want to have to disconnect the water supply every time.
It's making a really loud noise when spinning! Can you tell me what to do?
A loud noise is the first sign of a faulty bearing.
I turned it on, it started, and then it went out completely and won’t turn on!
I have an Indesit IWSB5085. I select a mode, turn it on, the first portion of water fills, there's a click, all the lights start flashing, and the water drains. The drum doesn't spin. The brushes are fine. The hoses are fine too... could you tell me why?
It fills with water and immediately drains it. And that's it. Silence.
My Indesit W105 TX stopped rinsing, there was a smell, and the lock won't open. What's wrong?
I replaced the heating element and started it up. It ran for 10 minutes and then went out. I can't turn it back on. I see some small leaks underneath. Where could the water have gotten in and what should I do?
I also can't figure out why it sometimes spins and sometimes doesn't. It doesn't pick up speed, and then the pump makes a loud humming noise. Then all the lights start flashing, and the pump makes a loud humming noise. I tried turning the two bolts on the saprostat. They were covered in red paint. Can they be adjusted, or do I have to buy a new one?
When I turn it on, all the lights on the display flash for a few seconds, then it works normally. What is this?
Most likely this is how it should be when power is supplied.
Good afternoon. I plug the machine in, and the bypass valve keeps clicking and filling with water. If I unplug the first connector on the valve, nothing happens. Then I plug the first one in and unplug the second one, and the valve clicks again and fills with water. What could be causing this problem?
The washing machine turns on, but after a while the door lock key starts flashing red. The cycle timer runs, but the machine doesn't do anything (fill with water, spin the drum, etc.). The door doesn't lock and won't open. What could be the problem? What's broken?
The red light is on, the door does not open.
The W87TX worked faithfully for over 10 years, but suddenly, when turned on, it started cycling the program selector repeatedly without stopping. None of the modes would activate. What could be wrong? Has anyone else encountered this?
I had the exact same problem. I replaced the door lock and the triac (I got a generic one, not the original one. It worked for six months). Then I reset the settings (5 seconds on the power button). Now I have a different problem: the machine turns on intermittently. When I turn it on, the door lock lights up dimly, but it doesn't lock. I'll press the power button 5-10 times. And everything works fine. But when I removed the control board, I noticed that it was 25% corroded. Now I'm struggling with the washing machine turning on.
I have an Indesit 51051g washing machine. Water flows from the tank and into the washing machine by gravity. The water inlet valve won't shut off, and I can't figure out why. There's no pressure. Even during the wash cycle, water flows into the wash tank. It's new, just turned it on for the first time.
Most likely it was connected incorrectly. Read the article "Why does my washing machine drain on its own?«
My Indesit washer has a top-opening lid. After the wash cycle started, the drum opened up, making a loud noise, and then jammed. It won't turn, the laundry is still inside, and water is leaking onto the floor. What should I do? Should I repair it, call a repairman, or buy a new one? My washer is 11 years old.
A bra underwire fell out of the drum. How do I get it out? The washing machine is dancing now.
Try to drag it to the edge with a magnet, it will be difficult, but we did it!
WIA80. The water supply solenoid valve does not open. 3.4 coil.
What voltage does it receive when opened? Thanks in advance.
My Indesit top-loading washing machine is constantly filling with water. What should I do?
Help please!
I don't understand what's wrong with the vertical dispenser. I turn it on, it fills with water, spins a few times, and then none of the lights blink. The switch starts spinning in a circle without stopping, making a quiet humming sound, as if it's draining the water, but it just keeps spinning.
The feed valve is clogged.
Indesit iwse5105. It doesn't spin or drain. It spins in one pore (washing) and then displays an F01 error at the end. I took it to a specialist to check the module, and they said it's fine, the motor is working, and I checked the tachometer. What could be wrong? Please help, I'm completely stumped!
The machine washes as usual, rinses, and goes into spin mode. And that's it. Something's wrong. The alarm light and the lock are flashing. The machine hums as if it's flushing. It doesn't respond to any buttons. I have to unplug it. This hasn't happened before. What's going on?
Hello. Did you solve your problem with the washing machine? If so, could you please tell me what it was? I'm currently experiencing the same problem.
Indesit iwub4105 (CIS). Please help! The ON/OFF button doesn't light up, the START/PAUSE button is lit and beeping. No water is being drawn in. Everything was fine during the last wash. Thank you in advance!
I have this problem: it's started jamming, and some plastic is flying out of the filter. What could it be, or maybe the belt has broken?
I turn on the cycle, it starts normally and washes non-stop. The wash light starts blinking. I have to turn everything off completely and turn on the rinse cycle, then the spin cycle.
The car won't start for a long time. There's no indicator light or sound indicating it's back on. After a while, an F12 error appears. How can I fix it?
The stain indicator and lock are flashing. Error code: F04 VJUE Z PLTKFNM CDJBVB HERFVB.
When my machine is empty, all the programs work. When it's full, only the spin cycle works, but the wash cycle doesn't work. The technicians don't know why. Why the drum doesn't spin, especially when it's set to wash. Has anyone else experienced this? Please let me know.
Indesit WIL83 washing machine. We set the cycle and started the wash cycle. After a while, the machine pumps water and the lock buttons start flashing: rinse, iron (the button with the iron). And then nothing else works. What could be wrong? Thanks for your reply.
Indesit WISE127X. When I turn on the program, the lock closes, water fills for about 5 minutes, then the H2O indicator light turns on without blinking. Water continues to fill. Then the H2O indicator light starts blinking, no water flows, and then silence. The lock is locked. What's the cause and what kind of malfunction is this?
Constantly filling with water, displays error 20.
Indesit IWSD 7105. All the lights on the machine are flashing and it's unresponsive! What should I do? It's displaying error code F12.
The water isn't filling, but the relay is working perfectly. What could it be? Indesit WGS 634.
I can't get the rubber curtain to fit over the drum neck.
Indesit iwsc5105. I cleaned the drain filter, now it doesn't fill with water when I start it, and all the lights are flashing.
Indesit wn421wu. It fills with water, starts washing, and leaks from the bottom. What could be causing this?
Please help, the washing machine won't start. The red light doesn't come on.
Could you please tell me what's wrong with the machine if it fills with water and then immediately drains? All the lights come on, and the hose is supposed to be 70-80 cm from the floor.
I have the same thing. Indesit 5085.
The machine washes fine. But all the programs have extended time, meaning I set it for 1 hour, and it washes for 2 hours. It adds time. You can stop the machine at any point during the wash cycle, and it will open the door even if it's full of water. What's going on?
I bought an Indesit EWSC S1051. The laundry is very hot after washing. Does anyone know why?
My new washing machine is leaking from the detergent drawer. It was dripping at first, but now it's leaking more when it fills with water.
In rinse mode, it's draining from the top, through the detergent drawer, instead of through the hose. In other modes, it drains through the hose. Where should I dig?
The indicator turns on, but the machine is in normal mode. Could you please tell me what the problem is?
Good evening. The drain won't start. Only the spin cycle works. In the wash cycles, it spins for 1-2 turns, then displays errors.
When I turn on the washing machine, water starts filling up nonstop and the drum doesn't spin. What's wrong?
Thank you in advance.
To everyone...: with such knowledge, it’s better to prepare your money and call a specialist... and “we’re coming to you.”
The machine washes when the rinse mode is turned on, and it starts to splash out water from the container where the powder is poured.
Indesit iwsc5105. When I start washing, it suddenly accelerates about 2-3 times, then dies. After a minute, all the top indicators light up and start flashing! The brushes are not worn out! I cleaned the armature of soot, but nothing changed! Could you please help me with some advice?
I'm not a master, by the way 🙂 Alternatively, maybe the control module is broken...
The machine washes, but only if you throw in a lightweight item. It won't handle anything over a few kilograms. It's rated for 6 kg.
It turns on, the water fills up, it doesn’t heat up, it makes one revolution and that’s it.
Indesit. My washing machine is 10 years old, never let me down, and it works perfectly. Now I'm having a problem: I select a program, the first-stage light comes on, the lock is locked—and that's it. There's no water intake, no sign of operation, just silence. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Can anyone help?
Tell me the reason
Could you please tell me what's wrong? The regulator keeps going in circles when I start it up.
Hello, my washing machine has been working fine for two years, but for the last two days it's started making a loud, screeching noise, it's scary! What should I do?
Most likely, the bearing has failed. If you're lucky and the tank is removable, you can replace the part. But if, like everyone else, it's non-removable, you'll either have to replace the entire tank (which is expensive) or find a handyman who can cut the tank apart and do the job, bypassing the service center (they don't do this kind of repair). And if you're handy, you can do it yourself. Here are the instructions: https://guide.washerhouse.com/en/razobrat-nerazborniy-bak-stiralki/
The machine does not pump water, what is the reason?
When I turn on the washing machine, the lock starts clicking and it doesn't wash. What should I do?
New machine. I turn on the wash cycle, the water fills, but it doesn't wash. I turn on the rinse cycle. It rinses and then returns to the wash cycle. And the wash cycle is flashing.
My Indesit WISN82 washer fills with water and immediately drains. It doesn't even spin. The drain and spin cycles work fine, but the lights are flickering. It's the lock and the dirty jacket. The technician looked at it and said it was the electronics. It's not the electronics, it's something else. Could you tell me what else needs to be checked if the circuit boards (circuits) have already been checked? Thanks in advance.
Indesit w63T. It's constantly on boiling mode, regardless of the temperature setting. Does it have a freon sensor?
Hello. I have an Indesit W105TX. Whenever I turn it on, there are strong sparks downstairs and the circuit breaker trips. Any advice on where to start repairing it?
Hello, there could be many reasons, as moisture, heat, and water are everywhere. Open the side cover; the protective film that protects the pump from moisture may have worn through. And water from the worn corrugated pipe or the drum may have gotten on it...
My Indesit WITP 102 washing machine's rinse, stop, and lock lights are flashing. Could you please tell me what to do?
How do I turn off the Extra Wash button?
We turned on the "Extra Rinse" button when we needed it. Next time we wash our clothes, we don't know how to turn it off. The machine makes a terrible noise during the spin cycle.
My Indesit washing machine is twitching violently when draining and spinning. What's the cause and how can I fix it? Thank you.
