Bosch Dishwasher Repair

Bosch dishwasher repairDespite the high quality of German assembly, Bosch dishwashers, like any other, can break down. No appliance is perfect; a dishwasher is a complex electrical appliance whose operation depends on many factors. Therefore, a dishwasher can break down at any moment. We'll discuss how to repair Bosch dishwashers yourself and the most common problems.

Typical malfunctions

In most cases, when a dishwasher malfunctions, users turn to service centers. However, this isn't always necessary; sometimes the problem can be fixed at home. Here are the most common malfunctions:

  • the machine does not fill with water;
  • There is water left in the dishwasher and it won't drain;
  • The dishwasher does not wash the dishes and freezes.

Before panicking and calling a repairman, try to repair the machine yourself. If the machine isn't filling with water, check to see if the water supply valve is open. If the machine isn't working (won't turn on), it's possible the outlet is faulty; replacing it will solve the problem. In addition, the machine may not turn on if the door is not closed properly. Before calling a technician, you can also check the filters for blockages.

If these simple steps do not help restore the dishwasher's functionality, then diagnostics of the machine's components is required.

Problems with Bosch dishwashers

In addition to the above-mentioned malfunctions, the Aqua Stop function is also common in Bosch dishwashers. Technicians call this malfunction a "problem" of these dishwashers. This error manifests itself as follows:error code E15, the machine does not fill with water for washing, there is a water leak inside the machine.

This problem is solved quite simply. First, unplug the appliance for safety reasons. Then, gently tilt the dishwasher to drain the water from the tray. The tilt should be about 45°.0This will also allow the sensor float to be released from the "water" position.

Note: Sometimes, simply moving the dishwasher from side to side is enough to move the float and clear the E15 error.

Another typical problem with Bosch dishwashers is the gasket in the inlet hose. If the gasket is installed the wrong way, the hose will leak water or will not fill with water. Therefore, when connecting the water supply, you should only follow the instructions.

The dishwasher does not drain or fill with water.

inlet hose filterNow let's figure out what to do when the machine seems to be running, but no water is entering. One of the causes is already described above: the Aqua Stop is activated. The second cause is a clogged filter installed on the water inlet. It's easy to clean yourself. To do this, unscrew the inlet hose, then carefully remove the filter with pliers and rinse it under running water.

A more serious problem could be a failure of the fill valve, which is located immediately behind the filter. In most cases, it requires replacement rather than repair. You can check the valve contacts using a multimeter, but in addition to the electrical part, the valve may also have a mechanical failure, causing the valve to become stuck in the closed position. All the reasons for the lack of water supply can be found in the article. The opposite problem, when a dishwasher doesn't work, is a lack of drainage. In this case, water stagnates in the dishwasher chamber, and the machine freezes during the wash or rinse cycle. The main causes for this problem with Bosch dishwashers are:Bosch dishwasher repair

  • Clogged cleaning filters - if you neglect basic operating rules, the problem can be easily solved by yourself;
  • kinked drain hose;
  • pump failure.

Unclogging a filter yourself is easy. At the bottom of the dishwasher tank is a flat metal mesh, and next to it is a glass-like element—the fine and coarse filters. These filters are easy to remove, wash, and then replace. The whole process takes no more than 10 minutes.

To check for a kinked drain hose, look behind the dishwasher and see how the hose is installed, and most importantly, whether the dishwasher is standing on it. If the hose is fine, the problem lies elsewhere. To replace and check the pump, you'll need to access it through the bottom of the dishwasher. Before replacing the pump, make sure it's broken by checking it with a multimeter.

The resistance of the working winding should be around 1000 ohms. Generally, this type of malfunction is a complex repair, so before attempting it yourself, consider whether you can handle it.

The machine doesn't wash and freezes.

dishwasher repairIf your Bosch dishwasher isn't working properly, freezes mid-cycle, or refuses to wash at all, there could be many possible causes. This symptom is one of the most abstract, as at first glance, it doesn't seem to answer the question of what's causing the malfunction, but don't despair. First, let's look at a general list of possible issues that could be causing your Bosch dishwasher to freeze.

  1. General failure of the electronics - in this case, the problem is solved by restarting the dishwasher (after which it usually works).
  2. Control module failure – in this case, independent diagnostics and repair are practically impossible.
  3. The self-diagnostic system has been activated, and the control module is displaying an error corresponding to a specific malfunction; until the malfunction is fixed, the machine will not work.
  4. The wash tank door doesn't close tightly. Bosch dishwasher doors have a special locking mechanism and a corresponding sensor that monitors it. If the sensor is faulty or the door is open, the machine will freeze and will not work further. The problem is solved by replacing the door sensor or its mechanism.

The above-mentioned reasons are more common with Bosch dishwashers, but the list of reasons for dishwashers freezing up is much broader. Now let's look at some examples of why a Bosch dishwasher won't wash dishes.

  • There is no water.
  • The pressure switch does not work.
  • There is a malfunction in the circulation pump.
  • The control module thyristor burned out.

In conclusion, Bosch dishwashers are found in every third dishwasher owner, making Bosch the most popular brand among consumers. Consequently, there are far more breakdowns of these machines, and even more reasons for them. We've tried to provide an overview of them in this article, accompanied by a video. We hope you find it useful.
