AEG washing machine diagnostic mode
AEG is a premium appliance. Even if it malfunctions, thanks to its modern electronic system, it can automatically detect the fault. The AEG washing machine's diagnostic mode can be activated by the consumer for an unscheduled test. Below, we'll explain how to do this correctly.
Self-diagnosis and its capabilities
The machine reports a defect using a alphanumeric code. The symbols appearing on the display are matched to the potential fault using a special table. However, the AEG isn't always able to run a service test; sometimes the user has to perform some manual intervention. To do this:
- cancel the previous mode;
- hold down the Start/Pause and Exit buttons, then turn on the washing machine by turning the selector to the right one notch;
- Press and hold the same keys again until the machine goes into test mode.
Important! To exit the self-diagnosis program, you must turn the machine off and on twice.
German technology allows you to view the most recent error code even during a cycle. To do this, five minutes after starting the washing machine, press the Start/Pause and Exit buttons for two seconds until the numbers appear on the display. As soon as you release the buttons, the code disappears, but the machine continues to run continuously.
After identifying and fixing the problem, you need to clear the device's memory. Launch diagnostic mode and select program number 10. Press and hold the Start/Pause and Exit buttons simultaneously until all information is cleared.
To check the system's functionality, turn the programmer clockwise. If you have a model with a digital display, the error code will appear in just one second.If a malfunction occurs during the washing cycle, the machine locks the door and the indicators on the control panel begin to flash.
Common mistakes and their causes
AEG washing machines, like any other appliance, have their weak points. Some components fail more frequently. Let's look at the most common error codes.
- One sound signal/flashing indicator or codes E10, C1 - water intake is disrupted.
- Two signals (E20, C2) - the pump or drainage system may be clogged.
- Four signals and, accordingly, E40, C2 - failure of the device blocking the hatch, or damage to the wiring.
- Three signals (EF3, C3, F3) – the Aqua STOP system, which protects against water leaks, has been activated.
- Eight (E80) - you started the programmer incorrectly, turn off the machine and select the mode again.
- Nine signals indicate a motor failure or overload of laundry (E50, C9).

- Eleven - about insufficient or excessive voltage, problems with the power supply (codes EH0, EB0).
- Fifteen - about a clogged pump, as well as about excessive foam formation (EF0, EF1, EF2).
- The T90 and CF symbols indicate a control board failure.
- CE - no signal is received from the water distributor for two minutes.
What should you do if the washing machine's control panel doesn't respond to commands immediately after startup, and diagnostic mode can't be enabled? You need to determine why the main module's power supply has been cut off. Inspect the power button, surge protector, and power source.
Measure the voltage at the power supply output: 5 and 12 V are considered normal. If there is no voltage, the ROM, microcontroller, or integrated circuit switches may be at fault. If voltage is present on all modular circuits, you'll need to check the microcontroller and crystal oscillator again. Don't forget to test the door lock. If in doubt, it's best to call a repair technician.
