Eco mode in the Neff dishwasher

Eco mode in the Neff dishwasherWith the growing trend toward environmental sustainability, almost all dishwasher manufacturers have begun to include resource-saving Eco programs in their dishwashers. Neff dishwashers also feature an Eco mode. Let's explore what it is, what it's designed for, what its features are, and more.

Features of Eco in Neff dishwashers

Despite Neff dishwashers offering a wide range of programs, homeowners gravitate most toward the Eco mode. Firstly, it's time-efficient, lasting just an hour and a half. Secondly, while being resource-efficient, it still cleans not only standard dish sets but even greasy baking sheets and pans, as long as they don't have a burnt-on layer. The cycle includes the following stages:

  • Pre-rinse;
  • Main wash at 50 degrees;
  • Intermediate rinse;
  • Final wash at 60 degrees;
  • Drying.

For ideal washing results, manufacturers recommend using a complete set of detergents: powder, rinse aid, and salt to soften the water.Neff dishwasher program set

Another nice feature of Neff dishwashers is the 1/2 function. If your dishwasher's dishes are almost clean or the baskets are only half full, activate this additional function, and the machine will save up to 30% of its resources. Combined with the Eco program, the savings are truly significant.

Review of other Neff dishwasher modes

The number and type of programs may vary by model. You can find out which modes are available to you in the manual or on the control panel. Below, we'll cover every mode available on Neff dishwashers.

  • Intensive wash. Consists of a wash at 70 degrees Celsius, three rinse cycles (pre-, intermediate, and final), and drying. It's marked on the control panel as a saucepan or as "Chef 70°." This mode is designed for cleaning any type of dishware, even the most heavily soiled. It works with all additional functions.
  • A sensory-optimized program. Designated as a bowl over two arches. The program parameters depend on the degree of contamination and the amount of dishes, which are determined by the machine automatically using special sensors. It is possible to use all additional functions in parallel.Neff freestanding dishwasher
  • A noise-optimized program. It's marked on the control panel as a crescent moon with the word "Night." It has no special features other than its low noise level. It consists of a wash at 50 degrees Celsius, three rinse stages, and a drying cycle. It only works with the "Intensive Wash Zone," "1/2," "HygienePlus," "Extra Dry," and "Shine Dry" additional functions.
  • Delicate cycle. Designated either by the label "Glass 40°" or by a wine glass/wine glass and tumbler icon. Suitable for removing light stains from particularly fragile glassware and heat-sensitive materials. It consists of a wash at 40°C, three rinses, and a drying cycle. It supports additional functions such as Extra Dry, Shine Dry, 1/2, Intensive Wash Zone, and VarioSpeedPlus.

In addition, Neff machines have three time-optimized programs.

  1. Rapid 65°. It's marked with a glass and a drinking glass, with arrows pointing right next to it. It only supports the Shine and Extra Drying options. The cycle includes a wash at 65°C, two rinses (intermediate and final), and drying. It does a good job of cleaning mixed dishes and cutlery with light soiling and household food residue.
  2. 1 hour. This means it lasts 60 minutes. It's identical in all respects to the program described above. The availability of either program depends on your Neff dishwasher model.
  3. Rapid 45°. Some perceive this mode as similar to the delicate program, which is entirely true. The cycle includes a wash at 45°C and two rinse options. Extra and Brilliant Drying are available as additional options.

Important! Neff machines also have a separate cold rinse program (shown with a shower icon). This program is user-selectable, does not support any additional features, and is suitable for all types of dishes.

Some owners may encounter a program marked on the dashboard as a dishwasher basket with a reflective strip or the word EasyClean. This program is a 70°C wash program for the dishwasher itself. Used in conjunction with special detergents, it is used for dishwasher maintenance.

Additional dishwasher features

Once you've mastered the basic programs, it's time to move on to additional features. These can greatly improve the machine's performance and make your life easier.

  • VarioSpeedPlus, or simply Time Saver. How long does a dishwasher clean in this mode? Depending on the main program, the cycle time can be reduced by 20-60%. At the same time, to maintain the effectiveness of the wash, resource consumption increases.
  • 1/2 Load. If you haven't loaded your machine completely, use this feature to save water, electricity, and detergent. Use slightly less detergent than recommended for a full basket.
  • HygienePlus mode, or hygienic wash. What's it for? If you need a high-quality disinfecting effect, use this function regularly. It increases the temperature and maintains it for a particularly long time.Additional features of the Neff dishwasher
  • Intensive dishwashing zone. This feature allows you to combine dishes of varying degrees of soiling during a single cycle. The lower rack holds heavily soiled dishes, while the upper rack holds lighter soiled ones.
  • Extra Dry. This program extends drying time. Recommended for drying plastic items, which typically dry more slowly.
  • Shine Drying. Increased water flow and a longer drying phase promote a shiny finish and prevent stains and streaks.

Please note: It is recommended to use a dishwasher rinse aid with the Shine Dryer.

Energy saving in Neff machines is not only a separate program, but also an additional feature with the same purpose: reducing water and electricity consumption during washing. To achieve optimal washing and drying results, the program duration is extended.
