Description of the "Down Blanket" mode in the LG washing machine
Before you try any particular mode on your LG washing machine and waste time experimenting, wouldn't it be better to familiarize yourself with the programs first by reading their descriptions? This way, you'll not only save time, but also water, detergent, and, of course, your nerves. We'll now offer you a detailed overview of the "Down Blanket" mode on your LG washing machine. We hope this information will help make your household chores easier.
Duration of the program
By default, without custom settings, the LG washing machine will wash for 1 hour and 9 minutes on this mode. If we set the maximum possible water temperature for this mode—40 degrees Celsius—but disable the spin cycle, the machine will wash for exactly 1 hour.
By setting the temperature to 40°C and selecting a 400 rpm spin speed, we get a wash time of 1 hour and 6 minutes. If we reduce the temperature to 30°C, the wash time will be 1 hour. If we set the spin speed to 800 rpm (the maximum speed on this program), the machine will wash for 1 hour and 9 minutes at 40°C and 1 hour and 3 minutes at 30°C. If we set the spin speed to 800 and wash in cold water, the wash time will be 57 minutes.
The down comforter cycle has a minimum cycle time of 48 minutes, assuming we use cold water and turn off the spin cycle. This is the cycle time the down comforter cycle will take unless we activate additional features. Most of the LG washing machine's available features are unavailable in the down comforter cycle, but some can be activated.
If we set the “Down Blanket” program and, without changing the other parameters (800 rpm and 40 degrees), turn on intensive washing, then the machine will wash for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
By setting the default program and enabling the "No Crease" feature, the wash will wait 1 hour and 14 minutes. Activating both the "No Crease" and "Intensive" features will extend the "Down Duvet" program (800 rpm and 40 degrees) to 1 hour and 35 minutes.
How does the program work?
Like any LG washing machine program, the "Down Duvet" mode has its own unique characteristics. At the very beginning, the machine, as in all other programs, begins filling with water, dissolving the detergent and preparing to begin washing. The program then begins running according to the following algorithm:
- The drum first spins intensively for 15-20 seconds, then stops for 10 seconds;
- Then it spins intensively for 30-40 seconds and stops for 15 seconds;
- It spins again for 15-20 seconds intensively, then freezes for 10 seconds, etc.
This operating algorithm allows you to wash a bulky item properly. The mixture of water and powder penetrates every thread, ensuring effective removal of dirt. Next comes the rinse phase, but first the machine drains the soapy water. The machine draws in a large amount of water and lets the items soak for about 3-4 minutes. The drum then begins to spin at a low speed, ensuring a thorough rinse. The drum then drains again and draws in a small amount of water for the final rinse. At the end of the program, a spin cycle occurs at the speed you set: 400 or 800 rpm. If the spin cycle was disabled, the machine will simply drain the water and turn off.
