Electrolux dishwasher programs

Electrolux dishwasher programsMost modern dishwashers have a relatively limited selection of washing programs. However, the Electrolux dishwasher's programs are designed to allow homeowners to clean any type of dishware and any degree of soiling. Let's take a look at the different programs available in Electrolux's "home helpers."

A set of basic algorithms for Electrolux dishwashers

The company's engineers didn't reinvent the wheel, opting for standard programs found in any other dishwasher. These functions are sufficient for home use, which is why this basic set is most often found in Electrolux dishwashers.

  • An automatic wash mode that automatically detects the level of soiling and the amount of dishes loaded in the chamber. Based on this data, the machine selects the temperature and amount of water, energy consumption, and the required cleaning time. It includes a pre-wash, a wash cycle in water at 45 or 70 degrees Celsius, a rinse, and a drying cycle. It can wash both regular dishes and cutlery, as well as pots and pans. The wash cycle takes 70 to 130 minutes, uses 0.7 to 1.3 kWh, and uses 8 to 16 liters of water. The mode icon is easy to find—it's written in three lines, "45."O”, “70O" and "AUTO".Electrolux dishwasher basic modes
  • A heavy-duty cycle suitable for all types of dishes, including pots and pans. It includes a pre-wash, a hot water cycle at 70°C, a rinse, and a drying cycle. The full cycle takes 120-130 minutes, uses 1.1-1.2 kWh, and uses 12-13 liters of water. The icon looks like a pot being dipped in water.
  • A quick cycle for freshly washed items. This program is only suitable for dishes and cutlery, which will be washed in 60°C water and then rinsed. The cycle lasts only 30 minutes, uses 0.8 kWh and 8 liters of water. The display resembles a clock face with the number 30 on it.
  • An eco-friendly mode for normal soil, suitable for washing dishes and cutlery. It includes pre-washing and washing in 50°C water, rinsing, and drying. This is the longest mode—160-170 minutes—but also the most economical, consuming 0.7-0.8 kWh of energy and 8-9 liters of water. The icon looks like a leaf with the word "ECO" written on it.

This is the program that testing companies typically use to determine the energy consumption levels of equipment, as well as the level of water use.

  • Finally, there's the rinse mode, essential for easily removing food residue from dishes. This program doesn't include a wash cycle, so no detergent is required. It lasts just 12 minutes, uses 0.01 kWh, and only 3 liters of water. The image shows jets of water falling onto the plate.

Thus, the dishwasher allows you to select the operating mode for each specific situation. You can either clean away heavy stains or simply rinse dishes with water after eating to prevent unpleasant odors. The automatic smart mode can also determine how much water is needed, at what temperature, and how long it will take to achieve the perfect result.

Functions of modern Electrolux dishwashers

In addition to standard dishwashing programs, Electrolux dishwashers boast a wide range of additional features that will be useful to homemakers in various situations. We'll list the most popular and important ones.

  • Half-Load Mode. To save a large dishwasher from wasting resources, you can activate a mode in which the machine only uses the main rack. Manufacturers typically create machines with two large racks, each with a spray arm. However, if you select the half-load mode and load dishes into the main rack, the second spray arm will simply not work. This feature allows the dishwasher to use almost half as much electricity, water, and detergent.
  • Forced Drying. This option activates an additional heating element and a small exhaust fan, which increases the air circulation inside the machine, resulting in dishes drying much faster.

This mode increases the cost of household appliances, so if you don't plan to overpay for convenience, you can simply open the door of your "home helper" after work to allow the dishes to air out and dry faster.

  • Self-cleaning function. Any appliance needs to be cleaned manually from time to time to keep it clean and prolong its life. However, some Electrolux dishwasher models feature a self-cleaning function. To activate it, simply add detergent (without rinse aid) and select the program. This program will quickly heat the water to maximum, drain it, and repeat the process, helping remove light and medium-sized stains.
  • Thermal disinfection. This option is similar to the previous one, but it's aimed at cleaning dishes. It's activated when the dishwasher is loaded with dirty dishes, and you want to kill approximately 90% of the bacteria on them. This feature heats the water to high temperatures several times during the cycle, eliminating not only dirt but also harmful bacteria. This mode is a lifesaver for families with small children, as well as for people who want to take maximum care of their health.
  • Machine operation indicator. It looks like a beam moving a colored dot across the floor, indicating the current washing cycle. Higher-end models project digital information onto the floor, so homeowners can always see how much more power remains.Drying dishes in an Electrolux dishwasher
  • Reloading dishes. This option is available if you've already started a program and then suddenly remembered to add a few more items. This feature allows you to pause the program so you can safely add more dishes, but only if the program was recently started, as there's no point in adding dirty dishes right at the end of the cycle.

Never open the dishwasher door to add forgotten dishes unless you have a reloading function – water and foam may spill out and flood the floor.

As you can see, modern technology offers a range of smart solutions that can be useful in a wide variety of life situations. The main question is whether you're willing to pay a premium for a greater range of additional features.
