Overview of drying modes in the LG washing machine
LG produces several lines of washer-dryers, and each year the models become more sophisticated. Modern 2-in-1s feature multiple drying modes designed for different fabric types. Hitting the buttons haphazardly is not recommended—you could over-dry, under-dry, or even ruin your clothes. To dry your clothes to perfection, you need to know all the drying modes available in your LG washing machine. Let's take a closer look at each program.
Descriptions of drying programs
Modern LG machines offer several programs not only for washing, but also for drying. Preset drying modes allow you to select the optimal conditions for caring for your item, without having to experiment with heating temperatures and cycle lengths. The main thing is to know which icon on the dashboard is responsible for drying, how to configure it and activate it.
Most 2-in-1 machines have a single drying program. It's identified by a schematic image of a T-shirt with three wavy lines in the lower right corner. The button is simply labeled "Dry." To activate the program, simply press the button and then press "Start/Pause." The drying level is adjusted by setting the timer:
- 30 minutes – “Normal” mode;
- 60 minutes – “Ironing”;
- 120 minutes – “Low temperature”.

Once the drying cycle is complete, the "Cd" code will appear on the display, indicating the air conditioning system has been activated. In simple terms, the machine will begin a final treatment to reduce wrinkles and smooth out the fabric. All you have to do is press the start button to complete the cycle. If you don't finish the cycle in time, the machine will extend the program for another 2-3.5 hours.
The LG washer-dryer dries clothes in 30-240 minutes, depending on the selected program.
Modern 2-in-1 dryers, such as the LG F1496AD3, offer several drying programs. These are displayed on the dashboard next to the programmable dial, highlighted by a pink line, and activated by turning the dial. Typically, there are four:
- "Standard" or "Cupboard Dry" (complete and quick drying for towels, shirts and linen made of cotton or linen);
- “For ironing” or “Ironing” (here the items are left slightly damp for subsequent ironing);
- “Gentle” or “Low Temperature” (designed for textiles, synthetics and delicate fabrics, as it implies safe and slow low-temperature drying);
- "Eco Drying" (can include drying for 30 to 150 minutes; the time depends on the amount of laundry in the drum).
Washer-dryers can be set to a single cycle: drying begins immediately after the wash cycle. However, this option is only suitable for cotton and linen items, as it automatically selects a fast, high-temperature drying cycle.
The number and purpose of the modes depends on the LG washer-dryer model; some machines have additional functions. To determine the machine's capabilities and capacities, carefully read the instructions. The user manual includes a drying program chart with explanations and recommendations.
Other washing machine programs with drying
In addition to drying programs, LG combination machines also offer washing modes. The number of modes varies depending on the model, and the "arsenal" is often supplemented by unique features such as steam or double rinse. Typically, users are offered at least 9-15 options.
- Cotton. Found on all LG models, this feature is designed for washing white and colored cotton items. The temperature ranges from minimum to 90 degrees Celsius, and the drum rotates rapidly and in different directions for optimal cleaning. Some machines offer advanced modes: “Cotton Max” and “Cotton +” with lower energy consumption, as well as “Cotton + Steam” with steam treatment of items.
- Sportswear. Recommended for gentle cleaning of membrane items and thermal underwear, such as Coolmax, SympaTex, Core-tex, and fleece. Thanks to the low temperature and gentle spin cycle, the material is washed while maintaining its original shape and the breathability of the fibers.
- Mixed Fabrics. A versatile cycle for washing different types of fabric simultaneously: sportswear, underwear, wool, dark items, and down items. It lasts approximately 60-100 minutes, with water temperature limited to 40 degrees Celsius.
- Hand wash/Wool. Selected for washing knitted and woven garments. Works with cold water and a spin speed of up to 600 rpm.

- Wool. A separate mode for cleaning pure natural wool. The temperature is set to 20-40 degrees, and a special detergent is added to the tray.
- Delicate. This cycle is for delicate fabrics, blouses, and lingerie. Its main feature is minimal heat and spin for gentle care.
- Synthetics. Optimal washing conditions for nylon, polyester, and acrylic are: 20-40 degrees Celsius, medium spin, and 30-60 minutes.
- Intensive 60. Designation: T-shirt with stain. Lasts 60 minutes and is heated to 60 degrees. Energy-efficient.
- Quick 30. Compresses the entire laundry process into 30 minutes, including spinning and rinsing. Suitable for half-loads and moderate soiling. Maximum temperature: 40°C.
- Quick 14. A fast cycle that lasts less than 15 minutes. Designed for lightly soiled laundry only and runs in cold water. For optimal rinsing, it is recommended to use no more than 20 g of detergent per 2 kg of laundry. Available on F4M5TS6W.
- Health-conscious. A deep rinse and heating up to 60 degrees Celsius ensures maximum removal of household chemicals from fabrics. Ideal for children's clothing, bedding, and underwear.
- Hygiene. Found on F4M5TS6W machines, this cycle features hot water at 60 degrees Celsius. The high temperature disinfects laundry, removing germs and allergens.
- Down duvet. This cycle is for washing large, bulky items such as pillows, bedspreads, and other bedding. Temperature: up to 40°C, minimum spin speed, and washing time: approximately 120 minutes.
- Quiet. Convenient program for F4M5TS6W users, including night cleaning. The motor operates at partial capacity, which allows the drum to rotate smoothly and the washing machine to not vibrate or make noise.
- Hypoallergenic. Activated when needed to remove allergens from fibers, such as dander, pollen, and dust mites. Once activated, the machine heats up to 60 degrees Celsius and "steams" the items for 100-120 minutes.
- Dark Fabrics. A rare program designed to preserve black pigments. It operates at low temperatures and a minimum spin cycle. Available on the F4M5TS6W model.
- Baby clothes. Designed for high-quality washing of babies' and children's clothes. It requires water heating to at least 60 degrees Celsius, a deep rinse, and maximum spin. Available on almost all LG models.
- Everyday. Ideal for washing shirts made of polyester, polyamide, and acrylic. The default temperature is 40°C, but can be adjusted from 20°C to 60°C.
- Stain Removal. A special mode for removing tough organic stains such as juice, grass, wine, and lipstick. The temperature gradually increases from 20 to 40 degrees Celsius, allowing for removal of various types of stains. Suitable for cotton-blend fabrics only.
- Refresh. Available on models with a steam generator, such as the F4M5TS6W. This 20-minute cycle uses hot air to smooth fabrics, eliminate odors, and remove stubborn stains.
LG combination washing machines are always equipped with separate rinse, spin, and drain modes. Some models, such as the F4M5TS6W, offer a "My Program" button. This function involves saving user settings entered manually or downloaded from the Internet in the machine's memory.
