Tumble dryer drying programs

Tumble dryer drying programsWhile washing machines are common in almost every home and are a familiar sight, dryers are much less common, leading to questions about their operation. One of the most common concerns is the drying modes in a dryer, as not knowing all the intricacies can lead to accidental damage to clothes. To avoid damage and ensure efficient drying, carefully review our detailed article.

Types of algorithms

First of all, it is worth considering the classification of drying programs that are most often found in modern dryers. All functions of "home assistants" are classified according to different criteria, but most often they are classified according to the duration of the work cycle. You need to select the required drying time for specific items and then press the appropriate button to start the cycle. Once the set time has elapsed, the machine will stop, which is very user-friendly, but it can damage the clothes or result in poor drying results. If you get the drying time wrong, the machine will either overdry the items or not dry them completely.

Operating modes are also categorized by residual moisture. The user selects the appropriate residual moisture level, starts the cycle, and waits until the items reach the desired moisture level. The device will then shut down automatically, eliminating the need to monitor the device or the clothes.a dryer and a washing machine in a row

Finally, there's a classification based on the fabric type of the garment, which is also very convenient, as different materials require different treatments. In this case, the user only needs to select a program, for example, for cotton items. If the purchased machine is in the mid- or high-end price range, it will definitely also have cycles for the most delicate fabrics, such as wool and silk. Plus, there are convenient functions for specific wardrobe items. Which ones?

  • Jeans.
  • Shirts.
  • Sportswear.
  • Shoes.
  • Baby clothes.
  • Jackets.

As a result, the number of modes and their classification directly depend on the category of the dryer. Budget options provide users with a few basic cycles, which should be enough for a comfortable life. More expensive models offer more specific modes suitable for a wide range of situations.

Examples of Dexp dryer modes

For clarity, it's worth examining the operating cycles of a specific dryer model common on the Russian market. The most popular Dexp dryers feature the following drying programs.

  • Standard and Extra Cotton. This cycle is for cotton items that you don't plan to iron after the cycle ends. Typically, this cycle can dry up to 9 kilograms of clothing.

In automatic mode, the machine will automatically determine the drying time depending on the total weight of the items loaded into the drum.

  • Cotton Ironing. A similar setting for cotton items, it leaves clothes slightly damp for easy ironing. The capacity is the same – 9 kilograms.
  • Delicate drying. Suitable for items that may become misshapen during standard cycles due to high spin speeds or excessively high temperatures. The capacity is minimal – just 1 kilogram.
  • Mixed Fabric Drying. This program is designed for drying items made from various fabrics at moderate airflow rates. This program can dry approximately 3.5 kilograms of laundry.
  • Extra Synthetics. An intensive cycle for items made from dense synthetic materials. This cycle gradually increases temperature and airflow for maximum efficiency. The capacity is again 3.5 kilograms.Dexp dryer programs
  • Standard Synthetics. This function is for delicate synthetic garments that don't need ironing, such as baby clothes and socks. It can dry up to 3.5 kilograms at a time.
  • Wool. A dedicated cycle designed exclusively for wool, it won't damage fragile garments, but will instead leave them softer and fresher. Only 1 kilogram per cycle.
  • Jeans. This program runs at maximum speed to effectively dry this thick fabric. The load capacity is half—just 4.5 kilograms.
  • Bedding. This cycle is for the largest cotton items – sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, and other blended fabrics. Load no more than 4.5 kilograms at a time.
  • Sportswear. This program is suitable for polyester sportswear that doesn't require ironing. This cycle is gentle and has a low temperature. It has a capacity of 3 kilograms.
  • Shirts. This option is for drying shirts that need to be hung on hangers after the cycle. It features a low temperature, long drying time, and a very powerful airflow for drying garments. Only a few shirts can be dried per cycle, as the load capacity is only 1 kilogram.
  • Customizable. This program either allows you to customize the settings you need, or it's the mode your "home assistant" uses most often, so she assigned it to this key.
  • Warm Drying Timer. This cycle is designed for large items with multiple layers, such as winter jackets, blankets, pillows, and other items that require warm air at medium intensity. The time is manually set, with options ranging from 10 to 120 minutes. It's recommended to dry one large item weighing less than 9 kilograms (20 pounds) using this cycle.
  • Cool Timer Dry. A similar mode, but with cool air and a drying time of only 10 to 30 minutes. This cycle is designed to quickly dry items weighing less than 9 kilograms.
  • Refresh. This option is for adding a fresh touch to items that haven't been used in a while. The timer can be set for periods ranging from 20 to 150 minutes.

Also, don't forget about the delayed start feature, which can be activated for any cycle. This allows you to delay drying for 24 hours or less. This mode is very useful when electrical appliances operate at a different rate at night, allowing you to save on your utility bills.

Auxiliary options

Finally, it's worth listing additional features that make life easier for housewives and generally increase the efficiency of their "home helpers." We'll explore these options using appliances from the same brand, Dexp.

  • Wrinkle Prevention. A useful feature for reducing wrinkles on items after a cycle. Activating this option will extend the machine's run time by 30 to 120 minutes, depending on the user's selection. This feature is available for all modes except "Cold Timer Dry," "Wool," and "Refresh."
  • Child lock. A must-have feature for families with children. To activate, press and hold the alarm and anti-wrinkle buttons for about 3 seconds while the machine is in use. This will lock all buttons except the power button. Removing the lock is the same as activating it.Dexp dryer control panel
  • Controlling Sound Signals. If you frequently use your dryer at night, or need to operate it without disturbing small children, you can disable the dryer's sound signals. Press the "Signal" button once to turn the sounds on or off.
  • Drying Intensity. This button adjusts the drying air flow intensity. It can be adjusted for all cycles except for the "Cotton Dry," "Delicate Dry," "Wool," "Warm Timer Dry," "Cold Timer Dry," and "Refresh" programs.
  • Lighting. The newest Dexp dryers even allow you to adjust the drum lighting so it doesn't get in the way at night or simply wastes energy.

Not all additional functions will be used every time, but their presence allows you to customize your "home assistant" to your needs, which is why the more programs, the better.
