Electrolux top-loading washing machine programs
Before using your new washing machine, it's best to carefully read the instructions. The manual details all the installation and connection details, as well as describes the washing modes of your Electrolux top-loading washing machine. We'll explore the programs available in these top-loading machines and explain their operating features.
Main modes and their characteristics
Overall, operating a top-loading washer is no more difficult than a front-loading machine. The principle of activating the wash cycle is the same: sort the laundry, add detergent, and select the desired mode. The control panel of the Electrolux vertical washing machines is equipped with a familiar rotary programmer and touch buttons for adjusting the temperature, spin speed, etc.
Before testing the washing machine, be sure to open the Russian-language manual. It's best to take the time to understand the software inside your new "home assistant," as the settings vary depending on the washing machine model, and especially the brand.
Depending on the washing machine model, the same mode on Electrolux vertical machines may differ in spin speed, cycle duration and permissible load.
Why is this? For example, in the "Cotton" mode, the machine operates at maximum load. That is, if the drum is designed for 6 kg of laundry, that's the maximum load allowed; if it's designed for 7 kg, that's the maximum load allowed. The same applies to the spin intensity. Cotton items can be spun at the highest speed, so if the model has a speed of up to 1300 rpm, that's the setting used; if it's only 800 rpm, that's the setting activated.
The "Synthetics" mode allows for a half-load. Therefore, in an Electrolux 6 kg machine, with this setting selected, you can load 3 kg of laundry. If the machine holds 8 kg of clothes, that means 4 kg of synthetics.
Let's describe the main algorithms found in the memory of modern Electrolux top-loading machines.
- Cotton. This is a standard cycle found on absolutely every washing machine. The cycle temperature can be adjusted from cold to 90°C. Ideal for white and colored cotton items. The load size is the machine's maximum, and the spin speed is also at its maximum. Approximate cycle time is 200 minutes.
- Eco Cotton. The washing temperature when running this algorithm is 40 or 60 degrees Celsius – user-selectable. The cycle duration remains the same – approximately 200 minutes – while energy consumption is reduced by almost half. Suitable for white and fade-resistant colored cotton items.
- Synthetics. The user can adjust the water temperature from 20 to 60 degrees. Only half-loads are allowed. This cycle is for washing synthetic and mixed fabrics. Spinning is performed at the maximum speed for the model. The approximate cycle duration is 105 minutes.
- Delicate fabrics. Delicate program for acrylic, viscose, and polyester. Suitable for removing normal stains. Wash temperature: 40°C, half-load, cycle duration: 90 minutes.
- Wool. This cycle can hold up to 1 kg of clothing. This cycle is suitable for wool items, as well as items recommended for hand washing (indicated by the corresponding symbol on the care label). The water temperature is set to 40°C, and the cycle lasts 65 minutes.
- Jeans. This program is designed for denim, knitwear, and dark-colored items. The user can select the optimal washing temperature: 20, 40, or 60 degrees Celsius. This program uses a half-load cycle, and the spin speed can be set to maximum.

- Lingerie. A special cycle featured on Electrolux machines. Designed for delicate fabrics. Ideal for bras and other underwear. Drum load: no more than 1 kg, cycle temperature: 20 or 40 degrees Celsius.
- Silk. A special algorithm for silk and mixed synthetic fabrics. Wash at 30°C. Load only 1 kg of clothing into the drum for maximum results. Spin at medium speed.
- Curtains. Another special algorithm for Electrolux automatic washing machines. The pre-soak stage is activated automatically in this case. The wash temperature is 40°C, and the spin speed is medium, typically 800 rpm.
- Blankets. A separate program for washing blankets, bedspreads, quilts, and duvets. Only one item can be loaded into the machine at a time. Water is heated to 60°C, and items are spun at 800 rpm.

- Sports. A program for synthetics and delicate clothing. This program will help remove light stains or simply refresh your clothes. Wash temperature: 30°C, half load.
- 5 Shirts. A special algorithm for washing blouses and shirts. The drum holds 1.5 kg of laundry, which is about five items. The water is heated slightly, to 30 degrees Celsius. This mode is designed for light soiling.
The washing mode should be selected based on the material the item is made of, as well as the intensity of the contamination.
When using delicate cycles, the Electrolux vertical washer's drum rotates more slowly and smoothly. This prevents mechanical damage to fabrics. An inexperienced user might even feel as if the machine isn't spinning the drum enough, but this is completely normal.
Additional algorithms
Depending on the model, Electrolux vertical dishwashers are equipped with a certain set of auxiliary options. The purpose of additional functions is to improve the quality of washing and adjust the program to a specific situation. What algorithms are we talking about?
- Pre-wash. This adds a soaking phase to the main cycle. We recommend enabling this option when loading heavily soiled items into the drum. Activating this option extends the duration of the basic cycle.
- Delayed Start. This option allows you to delay the cycle start by 30 minutes to 20 hours. When activated, the corresponding icon will light up on the dashboard.

- Ultra-quiet wash. When activated, the machine skips all spin cycles to complete a silent cycle.
- Extra Rinse. This feature is recommended for those with allergies to detergents or sensitive skin. It thoroughly removes detergent residue from fabric fibers.
- Easy Ironing. When this option is activated, the vertical iron rotates the drum more smoothly. The machine works to minimize wrinkles by reducing the spin speed and using more water.

- Time Manager. When you select a wash cycle, the display shows its duration. Use the "-" and "+" buttons to increase or decrease the cycle duration. This option is only compatible with certain basic programs.
- Child Lock. This feature allows you to lock the Electrolux washing machine's dashboard. To activate the feature, press and hold the "Prewash" and "Easy Iron" buttons.
- Sound feedback. An additional feature that helps you never miss a cycle's end. A signal will sound when the wash cycle is complete or if the washing machine malfunctions.
- Permanent extra rinse. To avoid frequently activating this option, you can activate it once and apply it to all subsequent cycles. To activate the extra rinse, press and hold the "Prewash" and "Delay Start" buttons.
- Temperature. By pressing the corresponding button, you can change the water heating temperature, as determined by the default algorithm settings.
- Spin. This option adjusts the drum rotation speed at the end of the cycle. You can also activate the "No Spin" function.
You can find out which washing modes a particular function is compatible with in the instructions for your Electrolux vertical washer.
It's best to get familiar with Electrolux's software once, so you can choose the optimal cycle settings for each specific situation. This will ensure the most effective washing results.
Daily use of the machine
There are also recommendations regarding initial setup and daily use of the washing machine. These are also covered in the instructions. First, it's worth understanding how to set up a vertical washer.
The first cycle of the washing machine should be empty, with detergent, but without any laundry in the drum. This is necessary to ensure that internal dirt and grease are washed out of the machine without staining the items. For the test cycle, it is better to select the Cotton program. Eco".
The manufacturer also provides recommendations in the instructions regarding how to load laundry. Here's how to load items correctly:
- Sort your laundry by color, fabric type, and degree of soiling;
- open the lid of the machine;
- press the “A” button (after this the drum will open);
- Place items into the drum one at a time, shaking each item first;
- Close the drum and the lid of the washing machine.
The maximum load capacity of laundry set by the manufacturer must not be exceeded.
The detergent dispenser in Electrolux uprights has three compartments. The Roman numeral "l" denotes the prewash compartment. The number "ll" denotes the main wash compartment. The flower symbol denotes the fabric softener or starch dispenser compartment.
Once you've loaded your laundry into the drum and added detergent, you can turn on the machine. Plug the power cord into a power outlet and press the power button. A beep will sound.
The programmable mode is selected by turning the dial. If necessary, the wash temperature and spin speed can be adjusted at this stage. All additional functions (delayed start, super rinse, easy iron, time manager, etc.) can also be activated here.
The cycle is started by pressing the "Start" button. If necessary, you can pause the program and change the settings during the first 10-15 minutes. To do this, pause the program and then resume.
The machine will beep when finished. The lid can be opened after a few seconds, when the lid lock indicator goes out. Then, remove the clean laundry from the machine and turn off the water supply.
The washing machine requires regular maintenance. Wipe the outer surfaces with a clean, damp cloth as needed. It is recommended to wipe the inside of the drum dry after each use of the vertical rack.
It's important to monitor the quality of your tap water. If it's hard, descale your washing machine every 3-4 months using a special descaling product. Otherwise, limescale can cause damage to the washing machine.
The washing machine's detergent drawer also needs to be cleaned periodically. Remove it from the machine and rinse it under warm running water. If you neglect this, detergent particles will settle on the walls of the drawer and clog the pipes.
Finally, be sure to clean the drain filter every few months. It's located at the bottom of the drum. It can become clogged with lint, threads, and hair, which can block the drain. Wash the "dustbin" in warm water.
Therefore, there's nothing unusual about operating an Electrolux top-loading washing machine. All recommendations regarding program selection and care are standard. However, it's best to read the instructions to understand the specific features of your Electrolux model.
