How do you say "Risciacqui" on a washing machine?
These days, it's hard to impress anyone with your knowledge of a foreign language. But while translating from English is easy, words and expressions in other languages can pose serious challenges. For example, washing machine owners are at a loss when faced with Italian names on their machines, such as "Risciacqui." What does this inscription mean, and how do you use the corresponding button?
The mysterious word Risciacqui
Of course, if you use a dictionary or translator, all questions will disappear immediately. Risciacqui translates from Italian as “rinse” and refers to the button responsible for starting and setting the corresponding function. It is turned on by default when you start washing, but you can activate it yourself if necessary.
Italian washing machines are equipped with another rinse function - Trattamenti, which in Russian means rinse with conditioner.
Italian words on the car dashboard
Since you own an Italian-made washing machine that isn't adapted for Russian-speaking users, you need to learn or at least become familiar with other Italian terms you might encounter. The Marchia/Arresto button turns the machine on and off. Program buttons.
- Base — standard modes.
- Forte Lavaggio is a program for removing stubborn stains.
- Lavaggio rapido – accelerated wash.
- Lavaggio a mano — manual mode.
- Delicato — delicate.
- Stira meno — “without folds.”
- Speciale — special modes.

There are buttons for additional washing options. These can be used either in conjunction with other programs or independently, if needed:
- Ammollo (Pre-lavaggio) - soaking (pre-soaking);
- Asciugatura — drying things;
- Centrifuga — spin;
- Facile Stiratura - smoothing;
- Giri — number of revolutions.
And several additional function keys, the translation of which causes the greatest difficulties for Russian speakers:
- Ritardatore di partenza — delay of launch;
- Exclusione — disable the washing algorithm.
Washing machine panels are littered with specifications for the various fabric types or items that each program is designed for. Some of these, such as Cotone, Sintetico, or Delicato, are intuitive, while others require translation from Italian:
- Roba colorata — colored things;
- Cose scure - dark;
- Lana - wool;
- Seta — silk;
- Resistente tessuto — dense fabrics.
Important! Most washing machines have icons printed next to each key on the control panel to help you navigate them.
If the icons don't help or aren't available, you can print out a list of terms in Italian and Russian and hang it nearby, or rename the buttons. In any case, with regular use of the washing machine, a homeowner will quickly adapt to it, but how is up to her.
