Twin-Drum Washing Machine Review
Every reputable home appliance company strives to outpace its competitors by introducing technology and innovation into their products. Every year, new washing machines are released, equipped with new and additional features that not only make washing easy but also high-quality.
Major corporations like LG, Haier, and Samsung, which introduced twin-drum washing machines to the world in 2015, are particularly prominent in this innovation race. Let's take a look at their features.
Specifications of the Haier Duo
In September 2015, the renowned Chinese company Haier unveiled a double-decker automatic washing machine at a trade show in Berlin. It is notable for its two drums, located one above the other in a single housing.
The Haier Intelius 2.0 washing machine has a load capacity of 12 kg. The lower drum is designed for washing 8 kg, and the upper drum is designed for washing 4 kg. The drums can work simultaneously, which is very convenient:
- Firstly, you can wash white and colored items, adult and children's items, wool and cotton items separately at the same time, using different programs;
- secondly, saving time on washing;
- thirdly, if there are a lot of things, then you can wash them in a large tank, and if there are few, then, on the contrary, in a small one, this will save water;
- Fourthly, the machine has the same communications as a regular machine, that is, only one inlet hose.
This machine's doors are equipped with indicators that show the washing cycle progress. The dimensions of this machine are 128 x 60 x 60 cm, and the lower drum has a drying function. The machine is controlled via a touchscreen or via Wi-Fi via a smartphone.
Please note: The Haier Intelius 2.0 automatic washing machine has received an award for technical innovation.
The disadvantages of this type of washing machine include its dimensions, which are unsuitable for a small apartment. Another drawback is that it has a single electronic control module, so if it fails, it will be impossible to wash items in any of the drums. And a very subjective drawback is the price: you can buy such a machine for $1,800 and only in Germany. This model did not go on sale to the masses.
LG Twin Wash Washing Machine
The renowned Korean company LG also unveiled a twin-drum washing machine at a trade show in Las Vegas in 2015. This model is significantly different from its predecessor. It's a standard front-loading machine with an additional drum unit attached to the bottom. This unit looks like a podium or platform.
The additional unit can be connected to other models. washing machines from LGWashing can be done in one drum or two at once. The washing machine is equipped with a reliable inverter motor, which is covered by a 10-year warranty. This automatic machine is available in three models, each with a different main drum capacity: 17, 19, and 21 kg. The machine is available in white and metallic colors.
Another feature of the machine and its advantage is that the main tank is located slightly tilted inward and is at such a height that you do not have to bend over when loading and removing laundry. You can start the washing machine either from the control panel or from your smartphone via Wi-Fi. This machine takes washing to a whole new level. Now you don't have to wait for laundry to pile up, but can wash as needed in the small drum. It's especially convenient for washing sportswear and delicates. All the technologies LG developers used in their regular machines are also included in this one, such as 6 Motion and TurboSteam.
This model is currently only available in South Korea. There's no word yet on when it will hit the Russian market or at what price.

Dual Washer Gadget: 2-in-1 Machine
A Chinese designer unveiled one of his designs, the Dual Washer, a washing machine housing two drums, one inside the other. Despite this, this machine can safely wash both whites and colored items. However, its capacity is relatively small. Washing in this machine saves water, electricity, and time.
So, a double-drum automatic washing machine is a newcomer to the global home appliance market, yet unavailable to Russian consumers. While it certainly has a number of advantages, even without these improvements, you can still find an excellent option for a standard front- or top-loading machine with a host of useful modes and features.
