It turns out that manufacturers use the term "super-narrow" to describe the narrowest front-loading washing machines, with a depth of 33 to 35 cm. We'll discuss these in more detail.

Imagine this: You have a small apartment, and you can't fit a washing machine in the bathroom, so that leaves the kitchen. You decide to install the washing machine under the countertop, but the problem is that you can only afford a countertop that's 40 cm deep. It's a problem out of nowhere.

A larger countertop will look bulky in a small kitchen and take up too much space, which in this case is an unaffordable luxury.

To install a washing machine under a countertop, you need to leave at least 1 cm of clearance in front so the front panel doesn't protrude, and at least 5 cm in back to allow room for the hoses and power cord. This leaves 34 cm of space for the washing machine, but where can you find such a washing machine when even narrow models are 36, 37, 38, and 39 cm deep? So, in our case, there's no room even for a narrow washing machine. We need a super-narrow front-loading washing machine with a maximum depth of 35 cm. Is there somewhere to find one?

While many of the most popular washing machine brands feature slim models, super-slim models are rare, and not all manufacturers offer them. For example, Samsung and LG washing machines don't offer such models, but Indesit does. Without further ado, let's dive right into our review of super-slim washing machines.

1. Indesit IWUB 4085. A simple, super-narrow washing machine with dimensions of 60 x 33 x 85 cm (W x D x H). Its only advantage is its extremely shallow body depth, just 33 cm. Otherwise, the technical specifications are more than modest. The drum capacity is only 4 kg, and the spin speed is up to 800 rpm. There's no display, but it does offer an impressive number of washing programs. The average price of this machine is around $195.
   
2. Indesit IWUC 4105. A super-narrow washing machine from the same manufacturer. Unlike the above-mentioned model, this one boasts more advanced technical specifications, while maintaining the same dimensions (W x D x H – 60 x 33 x 85 cm). The load capacity is the same – 4 kg, but the spin speed can be increased to 1000 rpm. The machine comes with a removable lid, which makes it easy to install the model under a countertop, And 16 preset washing modes provide excellent laundry results. Price: $225.
   

In the class of super-narrow washing machines, Indesits are considered the cheapest, although their quality corresponds to this.

3. The ATLANT 35M102 is a super-narrow automatic washing machine from a renowned Belarusian company. With dimensions of 60 x 33 x 85 cm (W x D x H), this machine is somewhat inferior in technical specifications to its Indesit competitors. Specifically, this model has a 3.5 kg load capacity, a 1000 rpm spin speed, and only 15 wash programs. However, it does have partial leak protection. Price: $261.
   
4. Electrolux EWM 1042 EDU. An affordable, energy-efficient, and most importantly, very slim washing machine from a well-known and proven manufacturer. Dimensions (W x D x H) are 60 x 33 x 85 cm, holds 4 kg of dry laundry, spins at up to 1000 rpm, and features a display. Features include imbalance monitoring, foam level monitoring, and a child safety lock. Price: $276.
   
5. The Hotpoint-Ariston ARUSL 105 is a washing machine with the same dimensions (W x D x H – 60 x 33 x 85 cm) and the same features. It has the same 4 kg load capacity and 1000 rpm spin speed, but offers a unique selection of programs, including anti-crease, delicates, steam, and more. There are 16 programs in total. The average price for this model is $260.
   
6. Candy GV34 126TC2. This super-narrow washing machine model is truly remarkable, in our opinion. It's 1 cm deeper – 34 cm (W x D x H = 60 x 34 x 85 cm). While the difference is minor, the technical specifications are impressive. Firstly, it holds a whopping 6 kg of dry laundry. Secondly, it spins at 1200 rpm. Besides this, it boasts an A++ energy rating, an excellent display, and a stylish appearance. This model will set you back $340, which is a good price for such a wonderful device.
   

So, after reviewing super-narrow washing machines, we've concluded that the narrowest machine has a depth of 33 cm with a standard height and width. Perhaps the time is not far off when manufacturers will learn to make even narrower machines, but for now, that's the way things are. The myth that super-narrow machines are exorbitantly expensive is nothing more than a myth. You can see for yourself that their price is quite reasonable and comparable to that of standard-sized models.

About the pros and cons of this technology

We've managed to clarify the question of what constitutes a super-slim washing machine. These are automatic washing machines with a shallow depth of 33 to 35 cm. Moreover, in recent years they have been increasingly offering these models on the market, which indirectly indicates a stable demand for them. What are the advantages of super-narrow washing machine models?

1. The super-narrow model can be built-in or simply placed where a standard-sized machine won't fit.
2. Narrow models fit very well against the wall in a small room, saving space.
3. Thanks to the compact arrangement of its components, the super-narrow machine has decent technical characteristics that allow it to be used normally.

These washing machines also have their drawbacks: lack of full protection against leaks, limited drum capacity, no drying function, etc. But these drawbacks rarely stop potential buyers, so super-narrow washing machines will only continue to gain popularity, actively displacing full-size "home helpers."

In conclusion, it's worth noting that super-narrow washing machines, like their slim counterparts, are rapidly capturing the washing machine market worldwide. In the near future, the vast majority of washing machines will either have limited depth or be completely compact, although who knows what will happen in a few years?
