Candy washing machine program failure
Automatic washing machines produced under the Candy brand are sometimes prone to washing cycle errors. This is due to unreliable firmware and weak electronics.
Candy washing machine program failures are a major concern for users. They often fail to activate their favorite, frequently used modes. Let's look at what to do in this case and what might be causing these problems.
Universal solutions to the problem
What should you do if your most frequently used wash cycle has malfunctioned? Don't immediately call a service technician or try to disassemble the machine and access the control module yourself. First, try restoring the machine's functionality using the most harmless method.
Often, a simple reboot of the washing machine can help solve the problem of software failure.
To reboot your hardware, follow these steps:
- turn off the machine by pressing the power button;
- de-energize the circuit breaker;
- Wait 20-30 minutes. During this time, the system will "update" itself;
- Turn on the machine and try to run the desired washing program again.
If this method doesn't help, you can try running a self-diagnosis. Almost all modern washing machines are equipped with this feature. The intelligent system checks one system element after another, identifying weak points. In 10 percent of cases, the machine can even fix the problem. In the remaining 90% of cases, it will indicate the malfunction, which will also save you time and give you a clear direction on how to proceed.
To activate diagnostic mode, you must:
- move the program selector knob to position 1 and press the “On” key;
- turn the programmer to position 2, turn off the washing machine;
- put the selector back into the first position and turn on the automatic transmission;
- then quickly scroll to position 3, turn off the equipment again;
- move the handle to position 1 and start the equipment;
- Turn to the "Drain" mode. This activates the diagnostic mode.

Everything must be done quickly, so that the pause between switching programs is no more than three seconds, otherwise it will not be possible to start diagnostics. When the test is complete, the machine will display a fault code. By decoding the error using the instructions, you can determine what kind of system failure has occurred. Washing machines without a display will notify you of a malfunction by flashing an indicator light on the control panel. After this, a repair plan is outlined.
Electronic module malfunctions
If the failure persists even after rebooting the equipment, and the self-diagnostic system can't figure out why, you'll need to check the machine's "brain." Diagnosing the control module without sufficient experience and knowledge is impossible. It's recommended to call a technician for this purpose.
If you have some electronics skills, you can try to diagnose the problem yourself. The procedure for accessing the control board is as follows:
- remove the top cover of the machine by unscrewing the screws that secure it;
- remove the powder receptacle;
- Remove the bolts holding the control panel.
Once the control module is visible, it's necessary to check all its contacts and wires one by one. The start button is tested first. If any component on the board is suspect, it's best to replace it.
If neither a visual inspection of the control board nor a full diagnostic reveal any issues with the module, you need to take things further. You'll need to check the machine's internal components to see if a malfunctioning one of them is causing the wash programs to malfunction.
We're looking for an unexpected culprit
A damaged heating element is often the cause of a Candy washing machine's behavior. The system understands that it won't be able to heat the water to the user-set temperature, so it refuses to start the cycle. To fix the problem yourself, you'll need to check the heating element and, if necessary, clean or replace it.
Often a thick layer of scale interferes with the normal operation of the heating element.
Limescale impairs the heater's thermal conductivity. Therefore, if the layer is too thick and cannot be removed, it's best to replace the element.
Another possible reason for program failure is a faulty engine. It is better to entrust engine diagnostics to an experienced mechanic. A specialist will check the stator and rotor windings of the motor with a multimeter and determine whether repairs are required or whether it is better to replace the part.
A burnt-out or clogged drain pump can also be the cause of equipment malfunctions. Inspect the pump, clean it of debris, and test it with a multimeter. If the tester screen displays "0" or "1," the motor has burned out due to a short circuit and needs to be replaced immediately.
In reality, any number of things can cause a Candy washing machine to malfunction. Sometimes, these are simply minor software errors that can be resolved with a simple reboot. This situation can also be a symptom of damage to the machine's internal components.
You should start repairing the machine with the simplest step: try rebooting the system. Afterward, it's advisable to run a self-diagnosis; perhaps the machine will automatically indicate the faulty component. Then, repair the heating element, motor, pump, or control module.
