How much do dishwashers cost?
For most consumers, the price of a dishwasher—whether it's a Bosch, Indesit, Candy, or other brand—is its most important feature. Of course, this doesn't mean everyone is willing to buy anything just because the price is low, as long as it can wash dishes, but it's certainly the first thing most buyers look at. A dishwasher can cost $100, $600, or even $2,500; the price range is vast. But what determines the price of a dishwasher? Which models are the cheapest and which are the most expensive, and is it worth the extra cost? We'll discuss all this below.
What makes up the price of a dishwasher?
At first glance, the answer to this question seems simple: materials, technology, equipment and its depreciation, labor, taxes, advertising, transportation costs, and many other things that the manufacturer includes in the cost of the final product—this is the basis for the future cost of a dishwasher. In reality, things are much more complex. Well-known companies with large turnover spend only up to 30% of their actual cost on the production of their dishwashers.
According to experts, the well-known company Bosch spends only about 20-28% of the market value of a dishwasher on its production, while advertising alone costs about 17%.However, the manufacturer itself ensures that the price of Bosch dishwashers does not exceed the limits set by marketers, but then there are the middlemen. Most consumers purchase dishwashers from middlemen, and they are not shy about setting prices. Here are some examples.
- A small Candy CDCF6 dishwasher in Moscow costs $154.30 at one store and $180.80 at another. We won't name these stores to avoid advertising them, but these offers are easily found online.
- A small Bosch SKS51E01 dishwasher in Moscow costs $221.57 in one shopping center, and $349.90 in another.
- The narrow Whirlpool ADPF872 dishwasher in Moscow costs $221.16 in one store and $324.90 in another.
- A full-size non-built-in dishwasher Hansa ZWM646 in Moscow costs $228.31 in one store, and $334.60 in another.

The list of examples is practically endless, but it immediately raises the logical question: where do the middlemen get such prices? Why can the same dishwasher cost almost twice as much in different stores in the same city?
Please note! Often, middlemen inflate dishwasher prices due to high rental fees, which they are forced to factor into the cost of the product. Be careful.
There are many reasons for this, including objective ones. We, for our part, urge consumers to be more careful when purchasing dishwashers. Before making a final decision on a particular brand and model of dishwasher (Bosch, Indesit, Candy, Ariston, or another), compare prices in at least several stores. It would be a shame to buy an appliance for twice its actual cost, and it's not always about money—it's about principle!
