Error F43 in a Bosch washing machine
Once a Bosch washing machine displays an error, it will no longer function properly. To restore your appliance to working order, you need to know what the codes mean and how to troubleshoot them. For example, what should you do if you see error code F43 on your Bosch washing machine?
Where did the code come from?
Typically, this error occurs when the machine is experiencing difficulty rotating the drum or the motor. Incidentally, this type of malfunction isn't necessarily accompanied by a code; sometimes the machine's behavior reveals problems—the machine literally struggles to rotate the drum, bouncing around in place. There could be several possible causes.
- Failure or malfunction of the tachometer sensor. This element's function is to notify the electronic module of its operating characteristics.
Engine. When something goes wrong, the car's brain simply doesn't understand what's happening with the engine. The solution is to replace the tachogenerator. - A faulty control unit. It's difficult to fix this yourself; only a qualified technician can diagnose and fix it. It's possible the motor and drum are fine, but the machine just doesn't recognize it.
- The bearings are worn out. Bearings are metal rings that act as a connecting link between the spider and the drum. With heavy use, they are the first to fail. If the problem continues unchecked, the spider will be next, and then the drum won't be far behind. This part can easily be replaced to prevent further problems.
- A foreign object has blocked the drum. Even if you empty your pockets, fasten the locks, etc., this doesn't guarantee the drum is safe. There have been cases where a bra underwire has blocked the washing machine and then completely punctured the drum. This problem is not immune, so it needs to be addressed promptly; then, perhaps, costly, time-consuming repairs may be avoided.
Important! Remember that overloading the drum can also cause error F43. A single overload won't cause any problems, but if you do this regularly, defects will inevitably appear.
We remove a dangerous object without disassembling it
The error usually appears during a wash cycle. To diagnose the error, stop the program, open the door, remove some laundry, and try restarting the cycle. If the error code disappears, the problem was overloaded and has been resolved. Note the volume of laundry that caused the error and keep this in mind for future reference.
If the drum is jammed by a foreign object, an error code may not appear. However, you'll definitely know something's wrong by the unusual noise and knocking sounds. The cause of the problem can range from obvious items like buttons and coins to completely unpredictable ones like socks or tights. An item can get stuck in three places:
- at the bottom of the drum or at the bottom of the tank;
- between the walls of the tank and the drum;
- wound around the drum.
Finding the problem isn't difficult. Stop the washing machine and unplug it. Hold a flashlight in one hand and slowly rotate the drum with the other. If the object is hard, you'll notice it by the distinctive knocking sound. If not, inspect all possible locations with a flashlight.
Removing an item with disassembly
The problem isn't always so easy to solve; sometimes you have to disassemble the machine to find the source of the problem. The best way to do this is through the rear panel of the washing machine. Remove it by unscrewing the bolts. Check the heating element to see if it's clogged with scale or deposits; who knows, that might be the problem. If everything is fine, remove the heating element.
Now you need to remove the pulley. This can only be done by removing the mounting bolt. However, after removing the pulley, the fastener should be replaced, but not screwed in all the way. To access the stuck item, move the drum and shaft toward the tub, creating some space. To move the shaft, use a hammer with a hard tip and tap on the cut.
Important! After completing all steps, you can reassemble the machine, plug it in, and run a test wash. If the F43 code persists, contact a technician. Only they can properly diagnose the problem and help fix it.
After this, spin the drum again. If you hear a knocking sound, try reaching the object through the hole from the heating element. If you're unable to reach it, use a wire or other thin, longitudinal tool.
