It's not uncommon for these appliances to start causing unexpected problems after just a few years, including various breakdowns. For example, it's not uncommon for a Candy brand washing machine to fill with water and then immediately drain, preventing a scheduled wash cycle from starting. Today, we'll explore the possible causes of this problem and how to fix it.

The nature of this problem

When a Candy washing machine fills with water but immediately empties the drum, it's immediately noticeable. This can be detected primarily by a cycle that doesn't complete on time. Additionally, a constant drain noise is heard from the machine. And perhaps the most annoying symptom is that laundry remains dirty after loading the machine. This situation can occur as a result of:

• incorrect installation of the drain hose;
• sewer blockage;
• valve malfunction;
• malfunctions in the pressure switch;
• failed control board.

It is noteworthy that modern Candy models automatically turn off the cycle and display an error if there is a problem with the water intake!

It's best to fix this problem immediately, as uncontrolled drainage will have a severe negative impact on all system components. This, in turn, can lead to damage to pipes, valves, and the pump. Furthermore, there's a risk of leakage, short circuits, and even flooding.

Incorrect hose placement

If you've recently installed or moved your washing machine, be sure to check the condition of the drain hose. This component is often installed incorrectly, causing problems with water intake and drainage. There are two ways to determine if everything is in good condition.

The first involves a thorough inspection of the corrugated pipe. According to the instructions, it should be secured slightly above the unit's tank, approximately 50-60 cm from the floor. This balance triggers a "siphon effect," preventing liquid from escaping from the drum. If this balance is disrupted, water will begin to back up into the drain, and the pressure switch will respond by resuming its filling. This cycle will continue until intervention or a power outage.

If the hose is difficult to reach, you can check its installation another way. To do this, run a quick wash and monitor the machine's performance. If water starts leaking immediately, the problem is a misadjusted hose.

Fixing the problem with the corrugated hose being positioned incorrectly is quite simple. Simply adjust the hose level according to the instructions and find the special plastic loop included with any machine of this brand. Next, attach the "hook" to the designated location and thread the rubber through it.

Self-draining is caused by a blockage

The drainage system can also malfunction due to blockages. For example, if dirt accumulates in the pipes, impeller, or pump, the pump will operate erratically, resulting in unscheduled water draining from the drum. To fix this problem, you'll need to clean the debris filter and other filter elements of your Candy washing machine. To do this, you'll need:

• disconnect the unit from communications;
• find the technical hatch in the lower right part of the body, pry it up and remove it;
• grab the protruding part of the debris filter (located on the right edge) and unscrew it by turning it counterclockwise;
• clean the coil under water.

Armed with a flashlight, you can shine a light into the cleared hole and check how dirty the snails, pipes, and impellers are. If the debris filter is covered with a thick layer of scale, soak it in a warm citric acid solution and wait 30-40 minutes. If you still can't open the hatch, try checking the drain another way. You'll need to disconnect the appliance from all utilities and move it to the center of the room. Then, carefully turn your "home helper" onto its right side and peer inside through the bottom. The pressure switch is clogged or not adjusted

It also happens that a previously functioning unit suddenly starts filling continuously. In this case, you should definitely check the pressure switch, as this sensor is responsible for monitoring the drum's filling level and must transmit a stop signal to the control board when a certain water level is reached. When it fails, the machine stops responding to excess liquid, which, in turn, leads to overflow, to which the Candy washing machine's safety system responds by automatically draining. This creates a vicious cycle that only a person can interrupt. The pressure switch can fail for the following reasons:

• due to oxidation;
• due to the contacts coming loose or not closing correctly;
• due to a problem with membrane sealing;
• due to blockage or damage to the sensor tube.

In this case, there's no time to waste, as there's a high risk of a leak and a full-blown flood. First, unplug the washing machine, turn off the water supply, and begin troubleshooting the pressure switch. Next, you'll need to:

• unscrew the bolts holding the cover on the back wall;
• push the cover away from you, wait until the latches engage and then remove the panel;
• find the level sensor and disconnect it from the housing;
• inspect the tube and washer for damage or blockages.

If contamination is found in the fitting, it is necessary to rinse it under the tap, and if the contacts are oxidized, it is enough to simply clean them. If the tube or the device itself is damaged, it is better to purchase a new sensor rather than attempt repairs yourself. A pressure switch is inexpensive, but a new part guarantees a solution. To install this element, you need to lower it down, connect all the terminals, and secure it to the housing.

At the end of this entire process, we perform a test wash. Run the shortest cycle without any laundry and observe how the Candy washing machine performs. If the error doesn't reoccur, you can replace the top cover and continue using your "home helper."
