Review of a washing machine for socks and underwear
Running a 5-7 kg load in a washing machine for just a few pairs of underwear and 5-10 pairs of socks is both uneconomical and dangerous. Firstly, it's wasteful to use so much water and electricity for a modest load of laundry, and secondly, underloading will cause an imbalance with all the unpleasant consequences. But there is a solution: hand washing or purchasing a mini-washing machine. If you're too lazy to wash by hand, consider a special washing machine for socks and underwear. There's a wide selection of such products on the market.
Japanese mini-car
Japanese manufacturers have already thought about saving water and electricity by developing and releasing a washing machine for socks and underwear – the Petit Laundry Swoosh. This miniature washing machine measures 44 cm in height and 29 cm in depth and width. Weighing approximately 4 kg, it is often referred to as a gadget.
The machine is so compact that it fits easily on a table or chair. It performs only one function: washing and rinsing. It doesn't work automatically, but human intervention is kept to a minimum, making washing with the gadget much easier and faster than manual cleaning.
The mini washing machine has the following advantages:
- economical water consumption – up to 5 liters per cycle;
- accelerated wash – the program lasts 18 minutes, 3 of which are spent on rinsing;
- economical energy consumption;
- compactness, which allows you to place the machine in any apartment or room.

The Petit Laundry Swoosh washes up to 250 grams of dry laundry at a time, enough for 3-4 pairs of socks. The mini machine can also refresh underwear, tights, handkerchiefs, dishcloths, and towels.
Miniature washing machines wash 0.25-2 kg of dry laundry in one cycle.
The Petit Laundry's design resembles a Soviet-era washing machine, albeit a fifth of its size. There's no drum as such; laundry rotates in a plastic tank thanks to an actuator underneath. There's no need to connect the "little one" to the sewer or water supply—everything is done manually. The lid secures the machine to the top, the detergent is added directly to the water, and the drain is done through a specially designed hose. Ideally, use a low-sudsing detergent, but regular detergent will do.
Elite Korean car
Korean manufacturers also offer their own version of a washing machine for socks and underwear. Specifically, the LG brand, which launched the compact Twin Wash machine, offers a unique solution. Its unique feature is that despite its compact size, it features two drums: an upper drum for all items, and a smaller lower drum for smaller items.
The Twin Wash's main drum is similar to standard drums: it can accommodate any laundry and offers a variety of functions and modes. Below is a "pedestal," which conceals a second tank dedicated to mini-loads. It features wash, rinse, and spin cycles.
Interestingly, the Twin Wash, like any LG washing machine, is equipped with all the latest technologies. Despite its compact size, it boasts a smoothing option, a delicate cycle, a continuous wash cycle, remote start, and Wi-Fi support.
Mini-equipment from foreign manufacturers
There are other unusual mini washing machines on the market. A striking example is the Shaking Washer, which resembles a bar shaker in both name and appearance. This machine is very compact, runs on batteries or electricity, and is often used on camping trips and business trips. Simply fill the "capsule," add gel, load your clothes, shake, and start the cycle. It also offers automatic drying, although you'll have to dry your socks in several batches.
The Shaking Washer mini washing machine can be powered by batteries.
Another option is the Dual Washer. This is a washing machine with two drums, allowing you to wash smaller loads. Furthermore, having separate drums allows you to wash colors and whites simultaneously, significantly saving time and effort.
Cheap Russian analogues
Russian manufacturers also produce miniature washing machines. The advantage of domestic manufacturers is that they have focused on simplicity of design, reducing production costs and setting a low price. Thanks to this, the technology became accessible and easy to operate.
VolTek Company offers two models of compact washing machines.
- VolTek Princess SM-1. A freestanding, top-loading machine with an activator-type system. Its dimensions are 34 cm wide, 30 cm deep, and 45 cm high. It is mechanically controlled and washes up to 1 kg of laundry at a time, enough for a small load. Functionally, the Princess is similar to the Soviet-era Malutka, offering only a wash and a single rinse, without a spin cycle. The machine costs approximately $35.

- VolTek Raduga SM-2. This model is larger than the Princess, but has similar features. It's larger: 42 cm wide, 35 cm deep, and 62 cm high. It washes up to 2 kg of laundry per cycle, and the drum holds 23 liters. The Raduga has mechanical controls, a timer, and a counter-rotating drum. It costs approximately $39.
A miniature washing machine can help refresh a small load of socks and underwear. It eliminates the need to fold items, wash them by hand, or run a full-size washing machine, wasting water and electricity.
